ALAIN GUIRAUDIE
CE VIEUX RÊVE QUI BOUGE
(t.l. Questo vecchio sogno che si muove)
In una fabbrica della provincia
francese che sta per chiudere, i
pochi operai rimasti aspettano
con stanchezza la fine quando
arriva un giovane tecnico a
smontare un’ultima macchina.
Il ragazzo è omosessuale.
Colpo di fulmine col responsabile
della fabbrica, mentre
un altro operaio più anziano
che ne è attratto lo mette in
guardia, dicendogli che non è
l’uomo adatto per lui. Ma non
si può decidere chi amare.
In a factory in the French suburbs
that is about to close down, a
group of workers is wearily awaiting
the end when a young technician
arrives to dismantle the last
machine. He is gay. He and the
factory supervisor are immediately
drawn to one another, while
another, older worker, who is also
attracted to him, tells the young
man to watch out because the
supervisor is not the right man
for him. But one does not decide
who to fall in love with.
Ce vieux rêve qui bouge ci porta
nelle angosce operaie – salario
minimo di disoccupazione e
futuro incerto – in quella
Francia periferica e marginale
delle multinazionali che mandano
a casa chi non serve. […]
Ma non ne parla, le lascia
venir fuori nelle parole, nei
gesti ripetuti per anni. La fabbrica
diventa il luogo del piacere
non produttivo, quel nonlavoro
rivendicato dalle menti
migliori, incontri e scambio di
seduzioni, identità maschile
che scopre incertezza e nuove
pulsioni. Gli operai vivono nelle pause: pranzo, fine giornata,
doccia, la promessa di un bicchiere al bar. Guiraudie
smantella globalizzazione e alienazione produttiva, controllo
politico e fatica, cambia segno alla rappresentazione
“vera” della fabbrica contro il sublime del massacro (il Lars
von Trier di Dancer in the Dark) per il piacere individuale,
della singola persona che vive nella collettività. (Cristina
Piccino, “il manifesto”, 18 maggio 2001)
Ce vieux rêve qui bouge reveals
to us the anxieties of the working
class – minimum wage salaries,
unemployment and an uncertain
future – in a suburban and marginal
France that sends home all
those who cannot cut it. [...] But
the film does not speak about this.
That is, it lets the ideas come out in
the words, in the gestures repeated
for years. The factory becomes a
place of unproductive pleasure, of
non-work vindicated by the best
minds, of encounters and seductions,
of a masculine identity that
discovers uncertainties and new
motivations. The workers come to life during breaks, lunch, at the
end of the day, in the shower, at the promise of a drink at the bar. This
is how Guiraudie dismantles globalisation and production-oriented
alienation, political control and labour. He changes the “real” representational
meaning of the factory as a place of sublime massacre
(like the Lars von Trier of Dancer in the Dark) into a place of individual
pleasure, of the single person living within the collective.
