La “Frankfurt junction” di
Walter è un chiosco di ristoro
con la licenza per vendere
alcolici e un forno a microonde.
31 dicembre 1999: per
Walter e i suoi clienti questo è
un giorno come tutti gli altri.
Troppo presi dalla propria
vita, non credono più ai miracoli.
Harry, per esempio,
conosce tutti i pub della zona
ma si sente a casa solo da
Walter, cosa che a quest’ultimo
non sempre fa piacere.
Mannie, di nuovo senza lavoro,
non ha fortuna neanche
con Roswita. Mr. Faltermann
cerca di sfuggire alla claustrofobia
domestica. E la dottoressa
che si avvia al turno
di notte non capisce proprio
cosa ci sia da festeggiare.
Sebbene nessuno di loro sembri
voler avere qualcosa a che
fare con la vigilia del millennio,
alla fine succede tutto – il
miracolo. Ma chiunque finisca
al “Frankfurt junction”
non sa davvero che cosa lo
aspetta.

Walter’s “Frankfurt Junction”
is a refreshment stand with an
alcohol license and microwave
cuisine. December 31st, 1999:
for Walter and his guests this is
a day like any other. Too caught
up with their own lives, they no
longer believe in miracles. Harry
for example, knows all the pubs
in the area but feels at home only
at Walter’s, which does not
always suit Walter. Mannie, out
of work again, is also out of luck
with Roswita. Mr. Faltermann
is fleeing domestic claustrophobia.
The doctor on the way to her
nightshift doesn’t really know
what there is to celebrate anyway.
Although not one of them
seems to want anything to do
with the eve of the millenium, it
does happen in the end – the miracle.
But anyone who ends up at
the “Frankfurt Junction” doesn’t
know what he is getting himself
into.
