ROMUALD KARMAKAR
DER TYRANN VON TURIN
(t.l. Il tiranno di Torino)
Der Tyrann von Turin non
consiste altro che in immagini
della Torino autunnale
dell’anno 1989. La maggior
durata/running time: 25’
origine/country: Germania 1989-1994
recitazione. (Olaf Möller, “Filmwärts”, n. 4/94)
Der Tyrann von Turin does
not exist except in images of
Turin in the autumn of 1989.
Most of the footage was shot in
places mentioned in Nietzsche’s letters to his mother. The
mother of the actor who provides Nietzsche’s voice reads some
of the letters and their replies. Unlike Eine Freundschaft in
Deutschland, there are no acted scenes. The relationship
between the two films thus illustrates the development of
recorded cinema of everyday facts to their dramatic re-enactments.
