BIOGRAFIA<br />
Otar Ioseliani (Tblisi, 1934) studia con Aleksandr<br />
Dovzenko e Michail Ciaureli al VGIK di Mosca, e lavora<br />
agli studi Gruzija-fil’m come aiuto regista, montatore e<br />
quindi nella sezione documentari. Nel 1961 si diploma in<br />
regia ma dopo che il suo primo mediometraggio non<br />
ottiene il permesso di essere distribuito nelle sale abbandona<br />
per qualche anno il <strong>cinema</strong>, ritornandovi nel 1966<br />
col suo primo lungometraggio, Girgobistve.<br />
BIOGRAPHY<br />
Otar Ioseliani (Tblisi, 1934) studied with Aleksandr Dovzenko<br />
and Michail Ciaureli at the VGIK in Moscow and worked at the<br />
Gruzija-fil’m studios as an assistant director, editor and, later,<br />
in the documentary department. He graduated in directing in<br />
1961 but after his first medium-length film was granted permission<br />
to be distributed in <strong>cinema</strong>s, he left film for a few years,<br />
returning in 1966 with his first feature, Girgobistve.<br />
