estetico legato a determinate concezioni economiche.
L’ambizione di Paris vu par… è di esserne il manifesto
autori. Ma il cinema autenticamente
moderno, quello di
domani, che noi intravediamo
e che vogliamo contribuire
a rivelarsi, non sarà
quello dei registi incapaci di
mostrare la realtà attuale e
futura, di liberarsi dal peso
delle loro ossessioni, di raccontare
una storia. […]. Quel
che pare sprigionarsi da
Paris vu par… è una nuova
estetica del realismo. Vi è, in
tutti questi episodi, malgrado
la profonda originalità di
ogni regista, una volontà
comune: restituire gli
ambienti, le classi sociali, i
personaggi, senza appesantirli
di significati prestabiliti,
vedere le cose al di là dei
preconcetti. […]. Di questo
rispetto per le cose è testimone
l’uso del suono in presa
diretta e del colore, che vorremmo
sempre più imporre
come regola. È la tecnica che
verrà, che già viene, in aiuto all’economia. Così il 16mm
(di cui la televisione ha fatto un formato professionale)
consente di risparmiare notevolmente sui costi delle
riprese (e non solo sul prezzo della pellicola, avendo
questa un peso trascurabile nel budget di un film). Esso
A kind of programmatic manifesto of the New Wave: the neighbourhoods
of Paris in six stories made by some of the leading
members of the movement.
“Les Films du Losange”, founded in 1964, is more than a production
company. It presents itself as an aesthetic movement
connected to certain economic concessions. Paris vu par’s
ambition… is to be the manifesto […]. It is the same as for publishing
companies and art galleries: what counts is choosing an
artistic course and sticking to it. We are certain that the public
will follow in the long run – a part of the public, at least, the
part that interests us. We do not want to establish a sterile
“avant-garde” kingdom (imited by theatre or painting,
detached from present-day reality), but an “avant-garde” of the
authors themselves. All of modern cinema is “auteur” cinema.
But the truly modern cinema, of
tomorrow, that we can glimpse
and want to help exhibit, will
not be a cinema created by directors
incapable of depicting contemporary
and future reality or
freeing themselves from the
weight of their obsessions, to tell
a story. […] What seems to be
emanating from Paris vu par…
is a new aesthetic of realism. In
all of these instances, and
despite each director’s profound
originality, there is a common
desire: to reclaim environments,
social classes and characters
without weighing them down
with pre-established meanings;
to see beyond the preconceptions.
[…] The respect for the
aforementioned issues can be
attested in the use of live sound
and colour, which we would like
to lay down increasingly more
often as the general rule; as well
in the technique that will come,
that is already coming, to economy’s
aid. Thus, 16mm (which
television rendered a professional format) allows one to save
tremendously on the shooting costs (and not only on the price
of film stock, which is of negligible importance in a film’s budget).
This allows for increased freedom for the camera and eliminates
all the inconveniences that hinder filming in natural
