The World's Largest Cruise Operator Partners with <strong>Italy</strong> for the<br />

Italian <strong>America</strong>n commercial relationships have been strengthened by the deal recently sealed between Miami based Carnival Corporation and the<br />
Italian company Fincantieri. The US giant <strong>of</strong> the cruising sector has acquired a 130,000-ton cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Lines brand, scheduled<br />
to start service in spring 2012. The new ship, modeled after the recently launched Carnival Dream and able to carry up to 3,690 passengers, is<br />
to <strong>of</strong>fer a water-works aqua park, an indoor/outdoor café, and a live entertainment venue called Ocean Plaza. It will also feature a wide range <strong>of</strong><br />
staterooms, including <strong>luxury</strong> staterooms such as deluxe ocean views with two bathrooms.<br />
Carnival Corporation & Plc. is the world’s largest cruise operator. The corporation comprises <strong>of</strong> 11 cruise brands, among which Costa Crociere, the<br />
historic Italian company acquired in 2000, is one <strong>of</strong> them. With the finalization <strong>of</strong> this deal, the company’s relationship with <strong>Italy</strong> seems to be for the<br />
long run. In fact, a second ship, the Carnival Magic, is already under construction at Fincantieri, and will be ready May 2011.
