Aims<br />
The aim of the course is analyse the managerial<br />
problems of industrial firms in<br />
relation to competitive contexts. A<br />
methodological frame will be defined to<br />
analyse the firm in relation to: corporate<br />
governance models, industrial evolution,<br />
competitiveness. A conceptual basis to<br />
understand the dynamics of firm processes<br />
and organizational structures will be<br />
provided.<br />
Contents<br />
The course is <strong>di</strong>vided in two parts: a general<br />
one and one based on a special topic.<br />
In the general part the focus is on:<br />
- Introduction to management <strong>stu<strong>di</strong></strong>es.<br />
- Theory of the firm: Interpretative and<br />
methodological complementarities.<br />
- Models of capitalism.<br />
- Value chain.<br />
- The functions of the firm and organizational<br />
structures.<br />
- Economies of scale and scope.<br />
- Learning and specialized economies.<br />
- Definition of industry.<br />
- Industry analysis.<br />
- Entry - exit Barriers.<br />
- Analysis of competitive advantage.<br />
- Strategies, politics and tactics.<br />
