INTERNATIONAL MONETARY POLICY Prof.ssa Patrizia Tiberi Aims To further develop the impact of Monetary Policy in relation with real and financial international markets. The role and structure of the various international institutions created after the Bretton Woods Agreement (International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organisation) are also considered in a global perspective. Contents Theoretical lectures - in particular on monetary policy in an open economy and on exchange rate policies - will be integrated with topics emerging from current issues. Students will be encouraged to write an essay of about 2000 words, to present in class, on matters of their choosing. After considering the main connections between real and financial flows in the world economy, the course considers the scope of international monetary policies and the most important instruments and methods made available by the financial institutions that emerged after the Bretton Woods Agreement (in particular the International Monetary Fund and the World bank) with a focus on recent interventions and reform proposals.
