La Storia e il futuro<br />
Intelligente, passionale, generoso, curioso e con un desiderio di innovazione, questo era il “signor Dino” come lo chiamavano tutti, un<br />
vero signore che spinto dalla passione per il lavoro fonda nel 1967 l’azienda <strong>Relco</strong>.<br />
Giuseppe Pisati con l’appoggio e l’aiuto della moglie Ernestina Donizetti, muove i primi passi nel mondo dell’elettrotecnica applicata all’illuminazione<br />
in un piccolo laboratorio a Milano in viale Lombardia, dove assieme ai suoi pochi collaboratori assembla i primi varialuce.<br />
Grazie ai preziosi suggerimenti di amici distributori di materiale elettrico e produttori di materiale elettrico dopo pochi anni amplia la<br />
gamma di varialuce introducendo nuovi modelli per le prime lampade alogene per le serie civili Biticino, Vimar, Ave e Gewiss. In mente<br />
ha però un’ambizioso progetto, poter cambiare l’intensità della luce sulle lampade incandescenti, e così che nel 1975 nasce il primo<br />
varialuce per abat jour modello RT32 da appoggiare sul bracciolo della poltrona e da tavolo, il modello RT30 spezzafilo per piantane ed<br />
il modello RT 27 per specchiere, ma anche modelli di variatori idonei a variare la velocità di aspirazione dei motori degli aspiratutto, la<br />
sfida era rivolta al mondo dei ventilatori (Vortice), bidoni aspiratutto, (i famosi Alfatec) articoli RM29, RTQ 29RC.<br />
Anche se molto efficienti i progetti rimangono ancora grossolani. Nel frattempo il figlio Giuliano fa esperienza presso l’azienda LUCI di<br />
Cinisello, dove il titolare Renato Mammani “durante la pausa pranzo” insegnerà molte cose che gli serviranno nel futuro di imprenditore.<br />
Poco dopo affina la tecnica e sopratutto introduce il “design”.<br />
Nel 1980 affida un nuovo progetto di varialuce all’Architetto Ezio Didone che firma il modello RT80 e RT81 il primo varialuce per lampade<br />
alogene, un prodotto altamente tecnologico per queste innovative sorgenti luminose, anche essendo un’ottimo prodotto fatica a farsi<br />
strada nel mercato. E’ subito un successo ed entro poco tempo si passa da una produzione di 5.000 pezzi a 50.000 pezzi dopo solo 6<br />
mesi, tanto da doversi avvalere di terzisti esterni per sopperire alla continua richiesta. Subentrano altre firme prestigiose, Achille Castiglioni<br />
disegna TOUCH un articolo particolarmente sofisticato del quale Flos ne fa un largo impiego e a ruota Artemide, Oluce, Martini,<br />
Luceplan, Fontana Arte e altre aziende di spicco.<br />
Questi articoli, erano per l’epoca talmente innovativi e di successo che li ritroviamo ancora dopo quarant’anni nei cataloghi del gruppo e<br />
a fare da completamento a moltissime lampade di marca.<br />
History and future<br />
Intelligent, passionate, generous and curious, with a desire for innovation - this sums up “Mr. Dino”, as he was called by everyone. A true gentleman,<br />
who was led by his passion for work and founded <strong>Relco</strong> in 1967.<br />
Giuseppe Pisati, with the help and support of this wife Ernestina Donizetti, started off in the world of electrical engineering in lighting applications,<br />
in a small workshop in viale Lombardia, Milan, where together with a few collaborators the first dimmers were assembled. Thanks to the invaluable<br />
advice of friends, manufacturers and distributors of electrical equipment, a few years later he expanded the range of dimmers by introducing<br />
new models for the first halogen lamps of the domestic ranges: Biticino, Vimar, Ave and Gewiss.<br />
He, however, had an ambitious project in mind: to be able to change the intensity of the light in incandescent lamps. This led to the first lampshade<br />
dimmer being created in 1975; model RT32 to be placed on the armrest of a chair or on a table; model RT30 switch for floor lamps;<br />
and model RT 27 for mirrors. But also variators that vary the extraction speed of vacuum cleaners - the challenge being aimed at fan industry<br />
(Vortice), drum vacuum cleaners, (the renowned Alfatec) RM29 and RTQ 29RC items.<br />
Even though the projects were very efficient, they had to be refined. Meanwhile, Giuliano go to work and gain experience in the company called<br />
LUCI in Cinisello, Milan, where he learnt much directly from the owner, Renato Mammani, during the “lunch break” and all this helped him in<br />
his future as an entrepreneur. Shortly after, he refined the technique applied and introduced the “design”. In 1980, he entrusted a new dimmer<br />
project to Mr. Ezio Didone (Architect), who created the RT80 and RT81 model - the first dimmer for halogen lamps, a highly technological product<br />
for these innovative light sources and even though it was an excellent product, it struggled to find its way into the market at first. It was then<br />
an instant success and after only 6 months, production soared from 5000 to 50000 items, so much so that contractors had to be outsourced in<br />
order to keep up with the continuous demand. Other prestigious firms then entered the scene: Castiglioni designs TOUCH, a particularly sophisticated<br />
item that was extensively used by Flos before being taken on by Artemide, Oluce, Martini, Luceplan, Fontana Arte and other prominent<br />
companies. These items were so innovative and successful at the time that we still find them in the Company’s catalogues forty years later and<br />
complement many lamps of well-known brands.<br />

“Il mercato mondiale dei Led vedrà una forte espansione, guidata principalmente dagli sviluppi tecnologici, questi sviluppi renderanno<br />
possibile una più ampia applicazione nel campo dell’illuminazione e saranno ulteriormente rafforzati dalle misure adottate dalle autorità<br />
per sostenere i sistemi di illuminazione efficienti dal punto di vista energetico.<br />
Allo stesso tempo, i fornitori a livello globale stanno lavorando per aumentare la qualità delle lampade a Led, migliorandone l’efficienza,<br />
la qualità della luce emessa, la resa di colore e la gestione termica”.<br />
Questa la dichiarazione di Neetha Jayanth, analista di Frost & Sullivan, società globale di consulenza per lo sviluppo economico di impresa,<br />
che ha condotto a livello europeo l’analisi intitolata “World Led lighting market”, in Italia si è assistito a una crescita immediata del<br />
mercato dell’illuminazione a Led tanto che molto presto potrebbe trasformarsi in un autentico “boom”, con l’estensione delle lampade<br />
ai settori residenziale e di strutture di ospitalità.<br />
Attualmente il nostro paese controlla il 16,3% del mercato europeo, per un totale di 12,8 milioni di euro.<br />
L’Europa, con una domanda crescente alimentata dalle politiche favorevoli all’illuminazione a risparmio energetico, rappresenta il secondo<br />
mercato a livello globale, attestandosi a quota 78,4 milioni di euro. Germania, Regno Unito e Francia seguono l’Italia in testa.<br />
Il mercato globale della tecnologia Led ha generato un volume d’affari per 343,3 milioni di euro nel 2010 e stima che questa cifra raggiungerà<br />
quota 1.325 milioni di euro nel 2017.<br />
Da una iniziale penetrazione del mercato dell’illuminotecnica pari al 3%, i diodi a emissione luminosa (LED) diventeranno la tecnologia<br />
dominante per l’illuminazione nel futuro.<br />

This is the opinion of Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Neetha Jayanth. Frost & Sullivan global consultants, whose mission is to<br />
research and analyse new market opportunities for corporate growth, have published a report entitled “World LED Lighting Market”, focusing<br />
on Europe. In Italy the LED market has grown very strongly in a very short time. This means that LEDs could soon be the dominant<br />
lighting technology with increased application indoors, i.e residential and hospitality sector accommodation.<br />
Italy currently has a 16.3% European market share, whose value is around €12.8 million.<br />
Demand for energy-efficient lighting is growing in Europe, (driven by measures which impose minimum efficiency criteria) and it now<br />
constitutes the second largest market in world, earning revenues of €78.4 million. Germany, the UK and France follow Italy, which is the<br />
market leader.<br />
The global LED market earned revenues of €343.3 million in 2010 and it is hoped that this figure will rise to €1.325 billion in 2017.<br />
From an initial lighting market share of 3%, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) will become the dominant lighting technology of the future.<br />

Sin dalla sua nascita, avvenuta nel 1983, Segno inizia il percorso verso la progettazione<br />
e la costruzione di lampade di ricerca estetica e funzionale.<br />
Per Segno far luce è questione di stile, perché la luce è fonte di vita e influisce sul<br />
nostro stato d’animo. Illuminare è trasmettere emozioni in sintonia con il vivere moderno<br />
in casa, in ufficio e negli spazi commerciali.<br />
La collaborazione con giovani designer di talento è libera creatività incanalata in<br />
una certa direzione, Adrian Peach, Marco Merendi, De-Signum, Ferrara Palladino,<br />
Giancarlo Tintori, Simone Micheli, Silvio Deponte, Roberto Paoli, Diego Vencato, Lucy<br />
Salamanca, firmano le collezioni Segno.<br />
La strada da seguire è quella tratteggiata insieme al cliente, interlocutore e partner<br />
della progettazione stessa. L’ampia collezione, caratterizzata dall’attenzione ai materiali,<br />
ai colori e all’uso a cui la lampada è destinata, interpreta il vivere quotidiano,<br />
regala sensazioni vere. Ogni lampada è una sfida, esprime idee che si materializzano<br />
nell’oggetto di design, “invenzione” di forme nuove che miscelano funzionalità<br />
ed estetica. Segno non trascura la sicurezza e l’affidabilità, sia nel contract sia<br />
nell’illuminazione degli ambienti domestici e di lavoro, resi più piacevoli da un uso<br />
appropriato della luce.<br />

For Segno, light is a matter of style because light is the source of life and affects<br />
our mood.<br />
Light conveys emotions in line with today’s modern lifestyle at home, at work and in<br />
commercial areas. Collaboration with young talented designers means free creativity<br />

and workplace environmental lighting, made more pleasant by using light<br />

Progettazione lluminotecnica<br />
I progetti illuminotecnici sviluppati da Leonardo Luce Italia e Segno mettono a disposizione dei clienti<br />
il Know-how e le soluzioni più efficaci per esigenze spesso molto complesse. La definizione di ogni<br />
Progetto determina un’autentica partnership, una relazione flessibile che amplia i possibili scenari e<br />
fornisce nuovi e reciproci spunti per entrambi. Durante la realizzazione lo Staff LTS (Lighting Technical<br />
Support) garantisce, sin dalle prime fasi, lo sviluppo idoneo a ciascuna esigenza.<br />
Leonardo Luce Italia offre tramite il suo Staff LTS e l’avanzato programma di progettazione per ambienti<br />
interni, esterni e strade, importanti soluzioni anche in fase di preanalisi, garantendo:<br />
- La possibilità di consultare le caratteristiche fotometriche dell’apparecchio per l’idonea<br />
applicazione<br />
- L’elaborazione ed il calcolo per ottenere i corretti parametri d’illuminamento, luminanza e uniformità<br />
necessari per lo specifico compito visivo.<br />
Il risultato dei calcoli eseguiti consentirà di produrre una documentazione esaustiva riguardante gli<br />
effetti ottenuti nell’ambiente considerato (valori, curve isolux, rendering tridimensionali a colori etc) di<br />
cui le immagini qui a lato ne sono un esempio.<br />
Il servizio iIlluminotecnico viene effettuato dal nostro personale altamente qualificato e, previa stima<br />
del tempo necessario per il progetto, verrà definita e concordata la valutazione economica con il<br />
nostro Staff.<br />
Il pagamento dovuto alla consulenza tecnica per lo sviluppo del progetto, in caso di vendita realizzata<br />
al cliente, verrà defalcato dall’importo della fattura di acquisto.<br />

Lighting design<br />
Leonardo Luce Italia and Segno fields its expertise and devises highly efficient illumination engineering<br />
solutions able to meet even the most exacting of its customers’ needs. We work with the customer on<br />
each project in a close and flexible manner, covering all the possibilities and aiming to benefit both<br />
parties. The Lighting Technical Support (LTS) staff places the customer’s needs first and foremost.<br />
Leonardo Luce Italia can devise quality solutions, even during the pre-analysis phase, courtesy of its<br />
LTS Staff and an advanced illumination engineering program for interior and exterior environments<br />
and roads. The company can also offer:<br />
- The option of testing the photometric properties of the device for suitable application.<br />
- A report and calculations to determine the correct lighting, luminosity and uniformity required for<br />
the specific visual purpose.<br />
Exhaustive documentation can be drawn up on the basis of the results of the calculations concerning<br />
the effects in the required environment (value, isolux curves, three-dimensional rendering in colour,<br />
etc.); the pictures provide an example.<br />
The illumination engineering service is provided by highly qualified workers who can give an estimate<br />
of the time required for your project and valuate the cost.<br />
The cost of the technical consultancy for developing a project, in the event of a purchase, shall be<br />

Quali le principali applicazioni del led<br />
Il led è estremamente versatile e si adatta a tutte le esigenze di spazio e di caratteristiche del flusso luminoso. E’ ideale<br />
in tutti quegli ambienti domestici dove si trascorrono molte ore al giorno, come la cucina, la sala da pranzo e il soggiorno.<br />
Perfetto anche per i luoghi di lavoro e nei locali di passaggio come scale e corridoi, dove frequenti cicli di accensione e<br />
spegnimento, anche temporizzati, non vanno a discapito della durata della lampada e dove è richiesta un’immediata luminosità.<br />
Il led poi è la soluzione migliore per le grandi superfici, in ambito retail, per illuminare oggetti quali abiti, calzature,<br />
gioielli, ma anche alimenti, cioè in quei contesti dove è necessario esaltare il colore garantendo basse emissioni di calore.<br />
La tecnologia led è sempre più utilizzata anche nell’hotellerie e nell’illuminazione pubblica: per parchi, strade, rotonde,<br />
centri sportivi e per dare risalto a monumenti ed edifici di pregio. Infine, poiché è resistente a qualsiasi tipo di vibrazione,<br />
ben si presta ad essere utilizzato per imbarcazioni, camper, auto e qualsiasi mezzo in movimento.<br />
Le lampade LED offrono inoltre la possibilità di scelta della temperatura di colore espressa in Kelvin<br />
(K). Se si intende creare un’atmosfera calda la scelta va orientata su prodotti che abbiano un<br />
valore di 2700/3000K. Nel caso in cui si voglia invece ottenere una luce neutra, l’ideale è scegliere<br />
lampade con un valore di 4000/4500K. Infine se si ha la necessità di creare un’atmosfera<br />
fredda si dovrà scegliere prodotti con un valore di 6000/6500K.<br />

The main applications for LED technology<br />
LEDs are extremely versatile and can adapt to any space requirements and light emission characteristics. They are ideal for<br />
illuminating the most frequently used domestic environments, such as the kitchen, dining room and living room. They also<br />
make an ideal solution for workplaces and transit areas such as stairways and corridors, where frequent on/off cycles - even<br />
timer-based - do not jeopardise the lamp’s lifespan, and where instant illumination is required. In addition, LED technology is<br />
the optimal solution for large surfaces in retail environments, for illuminating clothes, shoes, jewellery as well as foodstuffs:<br />
in other words, wherever colour needs to be enhanced while guaranteeing low heat emission.<br />
LED technology is becoming increasingly widespread in the hotel industry and for public lighting in parks, roads, roundabouts,<br />
sports centres, or for enhancing monuments and historical buildings.<br />
Lastly, as LEDs can withstand any type of vibration, they are suitable for use on boats, camper vans, cars and any moving<br />
vehicle or object.<br />
Moreover, LED lamps offer the possibility of choosing the colour temperature expressed in Kelvin (K). For creating a warm<br />
atmosphere, the choice should fall on products with 2,700/3,000K colour temperature. If, instead, neutral light is required, the<br />
ideal solution would be to select a colour temperature of 4,000/5,000K. Lastly, creating a cool environment requires products<br />

Le lampade LED emettono una luce pulita perché prive di emissioni elettromagnetiche, infrarosse ed ultraviolette, nocive per l’uomo e causa del surriscaldamento e scolorimento<br />
degli oggetti illuminati, non contengono né sostanze inquinanti o gas pericolosi né sostanze altamente tossiche come ad esempio il mercurio e sono inoltre realizzate con componenti<br />

lampade tradizionali), altissima l’efficienza con una minima necessità di manutenzione, salvaguardia dei colori, bassissima emissione di calore, resistenza a qualsiasi tipo di vibrazione<br />
(es.imbarcazioni, camper, auto, ecc.), accensione immediata (a differenza delle lampade a basso consumo), nessun effetto abbagliante. E in più massima flessibilità di utilizzo<br />

LED lamps emit clean light are they are free of electromagnetic, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, which are hazardous to human health and cause overheating and fading of illuminated<br />
objects. Moreover, they do not contain polluting substances, dangerous gases or highly toxic substances such as mercury, and are manufactured using recycled components.<br />

Sede Vlm anni 80 e attuale sede produttiva con 12.000 mq.<br />
VLM ha sempre rivestito il ruolo di leader nel mondo della componentistica elettrotecnica<br />
ed elettronica per l’illuminazione. Nasce nel Settembre del 1945, in un’Italia<br />
distrutta ma desiderosa di riscatto e sviluppo e la sua storia è scandita una serie di<br />
avvenimenti chiave.<br />
Anni ’40 l’inizio e il primo prodotto, l’interruttore a pulsante<br />
Anni ’50 i nuovi materiali e le loro applicazioni, il portalampada in backelite.<br />
Anni ’60 il design e la collaborazione con l’Architetto Achille Catiglioni, nasce il<br />
rompifilo 450.<br />
Anni ’70 La termoplastica e i nuovi portalampada, il cablaggio si automatizza.<br />
Anni ’80 l’elettronica, i primi approcci.<br />
Anni ’90 l’internazionalizzazione, dopo 50 trascorsi ad esportare fino al 75% della<br />
produzione inizia la creazione di filiali produttive e commerciali: Cina, Danimarca,<br />
Germania, Gran Bretagna, India, Svezia e Tunisia.<br />
Il 21° secolo il mondo è rivolto al risparmio e nergetico e ad una consapevolezza<br />
della fragilità del sistema e con i LED e sistemi RGB l’avventura continua.<br />
VLM già negli anni 70 aveva iniziato alcune forme di collaborazione con <strong>Relco</strong> S.p.A.<br />
e alla fine del 2008 è entrata a far parte a pieno titolo del Gruppo <strong>Relco</strong>.<br />

’80s the first approach to electronics.<br />
’90s internationalisation - after 50 years of exporting up to 75% of production, factories<br />
and sales outlets are set up: China, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, India,<br />
Sweden and Tunisia.<br />
The 21st Century the world aims at saving energy and creating awareness of the<br />
fragility around and the adventure continues with LEDs and RGB systems.<br />
VLM had already begun a sort of collaboration with <strong>Relco</strong> S.p.A. in the ‘70s and at the<br />
end of 2008 it became a fully integrated partner in the <strong>Relco</strong> <strong>Group</strong>.<br />
