La peste, malattia_<br />
me<strong>di</strong>evale che ha causato_<br />
la morte <strong>di</strong> un terzo della_<br />
popolazione europea,_<br />
costituisce ancora una_<br />
grave minaccia._<br />
e i nostri fratelli neri che lottano tanto<br />
coraggiosamente contro le avversità,<br />
e veniamo rincorsi dai bambini della<br />
scuola <strong>di</strong> Ndrele nelle loro <strong>di</strong>vise<br />
bianche e azzurre, che fanno a gara nel<br />
correre a pie<strong>di</strong> nu<strong>di</strong> <strong>di</strong>etro la nostra<br />
macchina.<br />
Non <strong>di</strong>menticherò mai un ragazzino che<br />
sembrava il più giovane e che aveva<br />
addosso soltanto una camicia sbottonata<br />
e un grande sorriso stampato in faccia!<br />
Era l’immagine <strong>di</strong> una libertà e <strong>di</strong> una<br />
gioia così grande, che mi riesce <strong>di</strong>fficile<br />
immaginare per lui qualcosa <strong>di</strong> <strong>di</strong>verso<br />
da un futuro felice e pieno <strong>di</strong> salute.<br />
Ci auguriamo che il lavoro dell’<strong>Or<strong>di</strong>ne</strong><br />
<strong>di</strong> <strong>Malta</strong> in questa terra martoriata<br />
contribuisca alla realizzazione <strong>di</strong> questo<br />
futuro.<br />
