CHMC (Clinic for Health and Medical Care), a German outpatient clinic for Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy is located in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC). DHCC is a hub for high quality medical
services. The location in the middle of a clinical and diagnostic center allows us to use the most
sophisticated complementary diagnostics.
CHMC is directed by Dr. Gregor Kowal, a German Board certified Senior Consultant in Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy. Dr. Kowal graduated from the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and worked for
more than 20 years in different psychiatric hospitals across Germany. He possesses a deep knowledge
in all psychiatric fields and is also experienced in leadership having been for several years a Head of
Department and a Medical Director of psychiatric hospitals.
Our perception of psychiatric illnesses includes the holistic approach of the patients. We treat our
patients as partners with respect and devotion. Our top priority is to offer the best possible therapy in
an intimate atmosphere under strict observation of medical confidentiality.
We treat those psychiatric diseases which can be handle din an outpatient setting. We support our
patients in difficult life circumstances treating mood disorders like depressions, mania and bipolar
disorders, all kinds of anxiety disorders (panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder), obsessive
compulsive disorders (OCD), burnouts, sleeplessness, dementias, attention deficit-hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD), psychosis, alcohol dependence, personality disorders, somatoform disorders, stress
related disorders, eating disorders (bulimia and anorexia nervosa)and sexual disorders.
The diagnostics includes an in-depth psychiatric and psychological evaluation, physical and
neurological examination as well as psychological testing. We provide in our clinic or through our
partners the complex laboratory testing, ECG, EEG, CT scan, MRl and other imaging procedures.
The treatment in our clinic proceeds in accordance with individual patient concept which means
understanding and open-mindedness towards different cultural, religious and personal backgrounds
of our clients. The evaluation process is followed by the elaboration of a treatment plan which
includes psychopharmacology and/or counseling (psychotherapy) followed by a psychiatric and
somatic monitoring. Our patients are involved in the treatment according to personal and illness
related aspects.
The CHMC team works altogether professionally to deliver the highest quality services for all of our
patients working with high consideration of patients welfare. Our team participates in weekly
seminars and trainings to ensure a continuous process of quality improvement.
The internal clinic organization and therapeutic procedures comply with proven German standards in
the healthcare sector and the standards of CPQ (Center for Healthcare Planning & Quality), the
regulatory body of Dubai Healthcare City. The implementation of guidelines and quality standards
allow us not only to create a constant standard of our services but also their further improvement.
CHMC cooperates with the two leading hospitals of Dubai: The Medicine City Hospital and American
Hospital. Both hospitals are holders of the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.
The laboratory services are delivered by The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) operated by
Laboratory Corporation of America (Lab Corp), one of the world’s largest and most experienced
clinical laboratory operators. NRL Dubai is CAP (College of American Pathologists) and ISO 15189
accredited.

Dr. Kowal studied human medicine at the
medical school of the Ruprechts-Karl-
University in Heidelberg (Germany). He
also aquired a doctors degree at the same
university. After his studies he specialised
in the disciplines Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy. He is experienced in all
fields of adult psychiatry and has depth -
psychology based psychotherapeutical
qualification. Over the past five years Dr.
Kowal has worked in Germany as a Senior
Consultant in the function as Head of
Department in clinics for psychiatry and
psychotherapy. In this function he was
responsible for the treatment of patients
and also for the supervision and education
of registrars and psychologists entrusted to
his care. In November 2010 Dr. Kowal
relocated his residence to Dubai (UAE) and
since then directs the Clinic for Health and
Medical Care (CHMC) a Clinic for
Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. The clinic is
located in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
