Capire chi si ha di fronte rispettando e seguendo i suoi bisogni. In positivo c’è da dire che, per lo meno, rispetto al passato, molti argomenti tabù sono stati sdoganati (si vedano ad esempio gli spot inerenti a prodotti per “problemi“ della terza età). Vi è in corso un processo di “naturalizzazione” e “accettazione” del senior che, nonostante qualche “acciacco” naturale dovuto all’avanzare dell’età, è desideroso di apparire in salute, vestirsi bene, creare dei progetti, darsi degli obiettivi. I senior e Internet Un altro interessante punto che rileva la ricerca GfK Eurisko riguarda la presenza di questo target sul web: i senior, infatti, rappresentano l’11% sul totale degli internauti; più uomini che donne, anche se queste ultime sono le predominanti nei forum. Non è un caso dunque che sia anche nato un portale dedicato agli over 50: Grey-Panthers.it, testata giornalistica registrata e diretta da Vitalba Paesano, è un contenitore di tantissimi argomenti di sicuro interesse per i senior. «Oggi il 77% degli ultra 64enni afferma di “non aver bisogno di Internet”; invece sarà proprio attraverso il web che i senior conquisteranno qualità di vita, tempo e risparmio di fatica» dichiara Vitalba Paesano, Interessi dei Senior in rete nel mese di aprile 2011 38 % 45 % 31 % 37 % 24 % Ottenere info in ambito turistico che di www.grey-panthers.it intende fare punto d’incontro e di servizio per i senior che accedono al web, cassa di risonanza di tutto le iniziative a loro riservate. «Posta e spesa online, home banking, prenotazione visite mediche e analisi, acquisto biglietti aerei e ferroviari, posti a teatro e al cinema… e poi, ancora, utilizzo di Skype e altri servizi Voip per mantenere contatti con amici e parenti lontani. Insomma, se la generazione precedente ha vissuto davanti alla Tv, la nostra resterà attiva e protagonista fino all’ultimo, proprio grazie al web». Insomma, gli over 55 rappresentano un appetibile fetta di mercato, e tra 10 anni lo saranno ancora di più. Non è facile elaborare una strategia vincente, come in tutti i casi dove si parte con qualcosa di nuovo. Però c’è ampio spazio in cui agire, e i competitor sono ancora pochi. Anche in fatto di licenze non è facile capire come muoversi. Se sui trenta/ quarantenni di oggi si fa leva sull’effetto “memoria” e su properties vintage, non vuol dire che la stessa cosa può funzionare con i senior (non crediamo che una t-shirt con il logo del Carosello potrebbe essere molto appealing). Bisogna puntare più sui valori, sulla discrezione, su una comunicazione ad hoc. La strada è ancora tutta da percorrere. In neither case is it doing much for their real needs and preferences. Perhaps the best starting point is to study them and their needs to understand who they are and what they want and change the way we communicate with this group. Seniors and the Web Another interesting point the GfK Eurisko research revealed was this category’s relationship with the web: seniors make up 11% of net users; with more men than women, although the latter are more vociferous in the forums. So it is hardly surprising that there is now a portal dedicated to the over 50s: www.grey-panthers.it, a webzine owned and run by Vitalba Paesano. The content is full of goodies for this age group, ranging from technology to wellness, culture, free time and current affairs. All things considered the over-55s obviously represent an attractive slice of the market, and in 10 years’ time they’ll be even more appetising. The problem is finding the right strategy, just as it is for every new target. The good news is that there is plenty of room to manoeuvre because so far there are few competitors. Meshing them into the licensing matrix could be even more complex. Today’s 30 and 40 year-olds are attracted to vintage properties from their childhood. It’s hard to see how the same approach could work for their seniors, who might not find a Magic Roundabout t-shirt particularly appealing. The way forward is probably through an appeal to values, through being discreet and developing specific communication strategies.
