7 Monumento alla Vicinìa
A poca distanza dal borgo di Canale, lungo la vecchia strada che
conduce a Calvola, è collocato il monumento alla Vicinìa. Si tratta
di quattro persone intente a discutere i problemi del villaggio, così
da richiamare la tradizionale gestione dei beni collettivi di molte
piccole comunità.
Nicht weit entfernt von Canale, an der alten Straße, die nach Calvola führt,
befindet sich das Monument „alla Vicinìa“, das vier Personen darstellt, im
eifrigen Gespräch bezüglich der Ortschaft. Ein Denkmal, dessen Motiv die
Probleme der gemeinschaftlichen Güter der vielen kleinen Dörfer sind.
A short distance from Canale, along the old road that leads to Calvola, is
the monument to the Vicinìa, or medieval Common. Four people are intent
on discussing the problems of the village, and the monument recalls the
traditional management of collective goods by many small communities.
8 Calvola
È una delle cosiddette ville del
Monte, le quattro frazioni poste
sulle pendici del Calino.
Con Canale è fra i borghi meglio
conservati. Merita una visita la
chiesa di San Giovanni Battista,
ricordata in un documento del
1537, ma sorta in epoca più
antica, come del resto attestano
gli affreschi interni.
Sulla facciata fanno bella
mostra una Madonna
cinquecentesca e un altare
utilizzato per le celebrazioni
nel cimitero che un tempo
circondava l'edificio.
Ist einer der winzigen vier Vororte,
die sich an den Hang von Calino
schmiegen. Zusammen mit
Canale zählt es zu den
besterhaltenen Dörfern.
Empfehlenswert ist ein Besuch in
der Kirche San Giovanni Battista,
erstmals 1537 erwähnt, aber aus
früherer Zeit stammend, wie die
Fresken im Kircheninneren
bezeugen. Die Kirchenfassade
schmückt eine Madonnenfigur aus
dem 16. Jh. Des Weiteren blieb ein
Altar erhalten, der zu Messen im
Friedhof verwendet wurde, der
einst das Gebäude umgab.
This is one of the so-called ville del Monte, the four hamlets on the slopes
of Calino. Along with Canale, this is one of the best preserved medieval
towns. It is well worth visiting the church of San Giovanni Battista,
dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, recorded in a document in 1537, but
built much earlier, as can be seen from the frescos in the interior. The

facade is decorated with a lovely 16 century Madonna and an altar used
for celebrations in the cemetery which once surrounded the building.
