Arte & cultura: due passi tra la storia
Diese, auf der Hügelkuppe, die das
Tal und die Straße dominiert, wird in
Dokumenten ab dem 12. Jh. erwähnt,
ist aber sicherlich wesentlich älter. Ihr
Merkmal ist der viereckige Turm, der
in der Mitte der Burgmauern 25 m
gen Himmel strebt, die das, was von
der Kirche San Martino und von
verschiedenen Wohntrakten erhalten
blieb bewahren. Die Burg war
jahrhundertelang Besitz der Grafen
von Arco und überstand u.a. die
Gewalt des Generals Vendôme, der
sie 1703 verminte und in Brand
steckte. Restaurierungsarbeiten
haben die Sanierung von einigen der
Räumlichkeiten des freiherrlichen
Palais ermöglicht, in dem ein kleines,
interessantes Burgmuseum
untergebracht ist. Tagungen,
Ausstellungen und Darbietungen
finden hier statt.

The fortress perched on the top of the hill which dominates the valley and
th
the road is mentioned as far back as the 12 century but is certainly far
older. It features a square tower which rises twenty-five metres high in the
centre of a boundary wall which encloses what remains of the church of
San Martino and a number of dwellings. The castle belonged for centuries
to the Counts of Arco and had mixed fortunes over the years, feeling the
fury of General Vendôme who mined it and set fire to it in 1703. Recent
restoration work has allowed the recovery of some parts of the baronial
palace which now houses the small but fascinating castle museum. The
manor house is also used for congresses, exhibitions and performances.
