Le Marocche di Dro sono considerate la più vasta frana dell'arco
alpino. Sono costituite da un deposito detritico di tredici chilometri
quadrati formato dal materiale staccatosi dalle pareti delle
montagne al ritiro dei ghiacci che occupavano la valle. I primi
eventi franosi risalgono probabilmente a oltre centomila anni fa,
mentre gli ultimi sembrano databili in epoca storica. Le Marocche
sono tutelate come importante biotopo.
Die Marocche von Dro sind vermutlich der größte
Bergsturz im Alpenraum. Sie bestehen aus 13
qkm Moränenablagerungen, die sich von den
Bergwänden beim Rückzug der im Tal
befindlichen Gletscher lösten. Die ersten
Steinlawinen gingen aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach
vor über 100.000 Jahren ab, während die letzten
aus historischen Zeiten stammen könnten. Die
Marocche stehen als Biotop unter Naturschutz.
The Marocche of Dro are considered the most large
scale landslide of the entire Alps. Consisting of a
detrital deposit measuring thirteen square kilometres,
this material broke off the mountain sides during the
retreat of the glacier which occupied the valley. The
first landslides probably took place over a hundred
thousand years ago, while the latest seem to be
traceable to the historic period. Le Marocche is
protected as an important biotope.
5 Pietramurata e la Torre Guaita
Il toponimo Pietramurata sta praticamente a connotare un masso
fortificato da mura, come del resto testimonia l'antica Torre Guaita,
ovvero il fortilizio costruito a guardia del territorio e della campagna
ai confini della contea d'Arco. Con il trascorrere dei secoli, e grazie
alle opere di bonifica, attorno alla torre che si eleva sulla modesta
roccia è sorto il paese omonimo, oggi assai rinomato per i suoi
vigneti e la produzione del tradizionale Vino Santo.
Der Ortsname Pietramurata deutet praktisch auf
eine aus Stein gemauerte Befestigung hin, wie
auch der uralte Turm Guaita bezeugt, d. h. auf
eine Befestigung zur Überwachung des Gebiets
und der Ländereien an den Grenzen zur
Grafschaft Arco. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte und
dank der Sanierungsarbeiten um den Turm, der
sich auf einer Felsnase erhebt, entstand dort der
gleichnamige Ort, heute besonders renommiert
wegen seiner Weingärten und der Erzeugung des
bodenständigen Vino Santo.
The place name Pietramurata, or walled stone,
basically describes a boulder fortified by walls, as
can be seen from the ancient Torre Guaita, or the
fortalice built to watch over the territory and the
countryside on the borders of the county of Arco.
With the passing of the centuries, and thanks to
restoration work around the tower which rises on
this modest rock, the town of the same name
came into being. Today it is renowned for its
vineyards and the production of the traditional
wine known as Vino Santo.
