Bzw., das, was von einem enormen Park übrig blieb, der von Erzherzog
Albert von Habsburg geschaffen wurde, um damit seinen Wohnsitz zu
verschönern. In ihm Bäume aus verschiedenen Erdteilen, die dank des
milden Klimas hier gedeihen. Zu den sehenswertesten zählen sicherlich die
Zypresse von Lawson, der Kampferbaum, die Sequoia, die Palmen aus
China, die Korkeiche, der Eukalyptusbaum, der Avocadobaum und andere
typisch mediterrane Bäume oder Sträucher.
This is all that remains of the vast park created by Archduke Albert of
Hapsburg around his residence. It is famous for the trees from the four
corners of the world which thrive here thanks to the mildness of the climate.
Among others, there is the Lawson cypress, camphor, giant redwood,
Chinese palms, cork oak, eucalyptus, avocado and other typically
Mediterranean trees and shrubs.
14 Porta Stranfora
La porta mette in comunicazione via della
Fossa con il quartiere medievale di
Stranforio e la strada che sale al castello.
Realizzata in doppio ordine, conserva
ancora gli apparati per il ponte levatoio.
Das ehemalige Stadttor verbindet die Via della
Fossa mit dem mittelalterlichen Stadtteil
Stranforio und der Straße, die hinauf zur Burg
führt. An diesem, mit zweibahnigem Durchlass,
realisierte Stadttor sind noch die Vorrichtungen
der ehemaligen Zugbrücke vorhanden.
The gate links via della Fossa with the medieval
quarter of Stranforio and the road which leads up
to the castle. A double gate, it still retains the
apparatus for the drawbridge.
15 Stranforio
Quartiere pittoresco, ricco di vicoli e
androni, attraversato dalla strada che
conduce al castello. Interessante il grande
lavatoio disposto al centro del rione e
ricordato nelle vecchie immagini.
Pregevole anche la chiesa di San
Bernardino costruita nel XVII secolo.
All'interno la statua lignea del santo
sorregge un modellino della città di Arco.
Ein malerischer Stadtteil, reich an
Gässchen und Hausfluren.
Durchzogen von der Straße, die auf
die Burg führt. Sehenswert ist der alte
Brunnen, der einst zum Wäsche
waschen diente - auf alten Postkarten
noch abgebildet -, etwa im Zentrum
des Stadtteils. Sehr interessant die
Kirche San Bernardino, im 17. Jh.
erbaut. Im Kircheninneren eine
Holzstatue des Heiligen, der ein
Modell der Stadt Arco in seinen
erhobenen Händen hält.
A picturesque quarter full of
alleyways and narrow lanes.
Running through it is the road
leading up to the castle. It is worth
visiting the big public wash house
located more or less in the dead
centre of the quarter and recorded
in old photographs. The church of

the church, a wooden statue of the
saint can be seen holding a model
of the town of Arco.
