11 Villa dell'arciduca Alberto d'Austria
Venne costruita nel 1873 come dimora
dell'arciduca Alberto d'Austria che qui era
solito trascorrere ogni anno qualche
settimana di riposo. Ha ospitato importanti
personaggi della corte e del governo
asburgico che hanno dato lustro ad Arco e
alla sua stazione di cura climatica.
Oggi è proprietà privata.
Sie wurde 1873 als Wohnsitz des Erzherzogs
Albert von Österreich erbaut, der hier alljährlich
einige Urlaubswochen verbrachte. In ihr waren
Persönlichkeiten des Habsburger Hofs und der
Regierung zu Gast, die Arco, auch als Kurort, zu
Ruhm und Ehren verhalfen. Heute ist die Villa
Privatbesitz.
Built in 1873 as residence of Archduke Albert of
Austria who was in the habit of taking a few
weeks' rest here every year. Many important
figures from the court or the Hapsburg
government stayed here and added to the fame
of Arco as a spa town. Today it is private property.
12 Via Fossa Grande
La via prende il nome dalla fossa che un tempo scorreva all'esterno
delle mura cittadine. Sul lato occidentale della strada sono visibili
l'ingresso della Villa Arciducale e gli edifici delle scuderie. Dalla
parte opposta si possono invece notare le vecchie mura bastionate
che salgono verso Porta Stranfora, l'unica porta sopravvissuta alle
demolizioni ottocentesche.
Die Straße erhielt ihren Namen vom Wassergraben, der einst die
Stadtmauern umgab. Auf der Westseite der Straße sind die Eingänge zur
„Villa Arciducale“ und zu den Ställen erkennbar. Auf der
gegenüberliegenden Seite blieben hingegen Reste einer zinnengekrönten
Mauer erhalten, die in Richtung „Porta Stranfora”, eines anderen Stadttores
führen, das als einziges die Abrissarbeiten im 19. Jh. überlebte.
The town takes its name from the fossa or moat which once ran outside the
town walls. On the western side of the road, the entrance can be seen to
the Archduke's Villa and the stables. On the other side, the old bastion walls
of the town rise towards Porta Stranfora, the only gate to survive the

demolition in the 19 century.
13 Parco Arciducale
“Arboretum”
È ciò che rimane del vasto parco
creato dall'arciduca Alberto
d'Asburgo per abbellire la sua
dimora. È caratterizzato da specie
arboree provenienti da diversi
continenti che qui crescono
grazie al clima mite. Fra gli
esemplari più importanti vanno
segnalati il cipresso di Lawson, la
canfora, la sequoia, le palme della
Cina, il sughero, l'eucalipto,
l'avocado ed altri alberi o arbusti
tipicamente mediterranei.
