29 Monte Brione
Si eleva gradatamente ai limiti orientali del comune di Riva del
Garda. A partire dalla seconda metà dell'Ottocento era stato
fortificato dall'Austria che lungo il crinale aveva provveduto a
costruire una serie di possenti strutture difensive tuttora visibili
percorrendo uno dei tanti sentieri panoramici. Oggi è un biotopo
con varietà naturalistiche di notevole interesse.
Der Monte Brione erhebt sich ganz
allmählich an der östlichen
Stadtgrenze von Riva del Garda.
Schon in der zweiten Hälfte des 19.
Jh. errichteten die Österreicher auf
dem Bergkamm ihre Befestigungswerke,
von denen Reste erhalten
blieben, die man bei Wanderungen
auf den vielen und panoramareichen
Wegen erkennen kann. Heute ist der
Berg ein Biotop mit einer
interessanten Pflanzenvielfalt.
Monte Brione rises gradually at the
eastern end of the municipal district
of Riva del Garda. From the second

half of the 19 century onwards, it
was fortified by the Austrians who
built a series of impressive defensive
structures along the ridge which can
still be seen walking along one of
the many panoramic trails. Today it is
a biotope of considerable interest.
30 Chiesa di San Tomaso
Nell’agglomerato di San Tomaso
si può ammirare l’antica chiesetta
dedicata a San Tomaso Becket.
Venne fatta costruire alla fine del
XII secolo assieme all'attiguo
lebbrosario dal conte Odorico
d'Arco. L'aula quadrangolare e
l'abside affrescata conservano
intatte le caratteristiche del
romanico minore. Semplice e
slanciato il campanile.
Dieses kleine San Tomaso Becket
geweihte Kirchlein wurde im Auftrag
von Conte Odorico d'Arco gegen
Ende des 12. Jh. erbaut, zusammen
mit dem angrenzenden Leprosorium.
Sein viereckiger Kirchenraum und die
freskenverzierte Altarnische
bewahrten den typischen
frühromanischen Stil. Einfacher und
schlanker Glockenturm.
The hamlet of San Tomaso boasts an old church dedicated to Saint

Thomas Becket, built at the end of the 12 century together with the
adjacent leprosarium by Count Odorico of Arco. The quadrangular
chamber and frescoed apse retain the distinctive features of the minor
Romanesque style. The bell tower is simple and slender in form.
