12 Via Fiume o Contrada Larga
L'antica Contrada Larga, fiancheggiata da
edifici storici, alcuni dei quali decorati con
affreschi, metteva in comunicazione il porto
con l'entroterra. La targa al civico numero
4 ricorda la presenza della comunità ebraica
che ha vissuto diversi secoli nelle case a
ridosso della Piazza Benacense, dando vita
a un'importante stamperia che operò verso
la metà del Cinquecento.
Die antike „Contrada Larga - Prachtstraße”, die
den Hafen mit dem Hinterland verband, ist von
historischen Bauwerken gesäumt. Einige davon
sind mit Fresken geschmückt. Bei Hausnummer
4 erinnert eine Gedenktafel an die jüdische
Gemeinschaft, die in den Häusern an der Piazza
Benacense etliche Jahrhunderte regen Anteil am
Leben der Stadt nahm und gegen Mitte des 16.
Jh. eine, für damalige Zeiten, wichtige Druckerei
eröffnete.
The old street of Contrada Larga, which linked the
harbour with the inland town, is flanked by historic
buildings, some decorated with frescos. A plaque
at number four commemorates the Jewish
community that lived for centuries in the houses
around Piazza Benacense, among other things
founding a major print works which was in

13 Porta Bruciata
Il nome sembra ricordare un incendio di cui non si hanno
comunque notizie precise. Si tratta di un antico archivolto che
congiunge l'attuale piazza 3 Novembre con piazza San Rocco.
Der Name erinnert an einen Brand, von dem jedoch keine präzisen
Informationen erhalten blieben. Eine Archivolte, die die heutige Piazza
3 Novembre mit der Piazza San Rocco verbindet.
The name, which means burned gate, seems to commemorate a fire
of which there is no exact record. It is an old Barrel vault connecting the
present day piazza 3 Novembre with piazza San Rocco.
