Eine radikale Veränderung widerfährt der Burg
Mitte des 19. Jh., als sie zur österreichischungarischen
Kaserne umfunktioniert und ihrer
strukturellen Eigenschaften aus dem Mittelalter
und der Renaissance beraubt wird. Bei kürzlich
erfolgten Restaurierungsarbeiten kamen einige
der ursprünglichen Formen wieder ans
Tageslicht. Heute ist in der Burg ein Museum
untergebracht, und der Hauptturm lädt zur
schönen Aussicht ein.
Dates back to the agreement made in 1124 with
the bishop Altemanno when the citizens of Riva
were granted the right to build a new fortress on
the lake shore. The course of history has left its
mark on la Rocca which has been altered over

time. In the early 16 century, it was refurbished to
make it a fitting temporary residence of the
bishop princes. It underwent a radical
th
transformation in the mid-19 century, when it was
turned into an Austro-Hungarian barracks and lost
all its medieval and renaissance features. Recent
restoration work has revealed some of the original
structures and made it a suitable home for the
museum. The view from the keep is truly
magnificent.
5 Museo di Riva del Garda
Raccoglie il patrimonio storico e culturale di
Riva e dell'Alto Garda. La sezione
archeologica, una della più importanti in
ambito provinciale, espone le steli neolitiche
rinvenute ad Arco, i segni della civiltà
palafitticola di Ledro, i reperti della cultura
preromana e romana provenienti dal
castelliere San Martino, epigrafi e manufatti
venuti alla luce nei diversi siti dell'Alto
Garda. La pinacoteca documenta a sua
volta un percorso artistico che va dal
Quattrocento ai nostri giorni.
Merita inoltre di essere visitata la sezione
dedicata alla storia della città.
Das Museum fungiert als Hüter der historischen
und kulturellen Güter aus Riva und dem Oberen
Gardaseegebiet. Die archäologische Abteilung,
übrigens eine der bedeutendsten des Trentino,
stellt u. a. in Arco gefundene Stele aus der
Jungsteinzeit, Reste aus der Zeit der
Pfahlbautenbevölkerung in Ledro, Fundstücke
aus der vorrömischen und der römischen Zeit -
sie stammen vom Castelliere San Martino -,
Inschriften und Handarbeiten aus, die bei
verschiedenen Ausgrabungsarbeiten im Alto
Garda ans Tageslicht kamen. Die Pinakothek
dokumentiert einen künstlerischen Werdegang,
der im 15. Jh. beginnt und bis in unsere Tage
reicht. Ein Besuch in der Abteilung, die der
Geschichte der Stadt gewidmet ist, lohnt sich.
