Riva del Garda ancora una volta si propone attraverso 

il canto corale e cioè con la più alta forma musicale, 

con la sesta edizione di “In…Canto sul Garda”. Con 

entusiasmo presentiamo questo evento, e la nostra 

città, per la sua posizione privilegiata, si fregia di un ulteriore 

flusso vitale che, di manifestazione in manifestazione, 

ne rafforza lo spirito artistico e culturale. C’è 

sogno, c’è linfa, c’è arte: il ritmo si moltiplica in una 

cosmica festa di voci. Questi eccezionali momenti ai 

quali avremo il piacere di assistere ci vengono offerti da 

cori provenienti da 16 nazioni, sia vicine sia dalle più 

lontane terre – Cina, Indonesia, Russia, Irlanda etc. La 

nostra città accoglie queste nazioni con un cordiale 

abbraccio, augurando a tutti una felice permanenza sulle 

rive del Benaco. Benvenuti quindi a Riva del Garda da 

parte di tutta la Comunità, locale e trentina, dall’Organizzazione 

e dalle Autorità, che ringraziamo per la loro 

partecipazione. Un ulteriore ringraziamento a tutti i coristi 

e loro maestri, alla giuria internazionale, al Comune 

di Riva del Garda, alla Provincia Autonoma di Trento, 

alla Regione Autonoma Trentino Alto Adige, alla Federazione 

Cori del Trentino ed alle Istituzioni pubbliche e 

private, non ultima la Förderverein INTERKULTUR. 

Noch einmal präsentiert sich Riva del Garda über den 

Chorgesang, der höchsten musikalischen Form, mit 

der sechsten Ausgabe des „In...canto sul Garda“. Mit 

Enthusiasmus stellen wir dieses Ereignis vor, und unsere 

Stadt, in ihrer privilegierten Lage, rühmt sich einer weiteren 

Bereicherung ihres Energieflusses, der mit jeder 

Veranstaltung ihren künstlerischen und kulturellen Geist 

stärkt. Traum, Lebensenergie, Kunst! Der Rhythmus 

vervielfältigt sich in einem kosmischen Fest der Stimmen. 

Diese außergewöhnlichen Momente, denen wir das 

Glück haben beizuwohnen, werden uns von Chören aus 

16 Nationen bereitet, angereist aus nah und fern: aus 

China, Indonesien, Russland, Irland und vielen anderen 

Ländern. Unsere Stadt empfängt diese Nationen 

mit offenen Armen und wünscht allen einen angenehmen 

Aufenthalt an den Ufern des Gardasees. Herzlich 

Willkommen also in Riva del Garda seitens der 

Gemeinde, der örtlichen und der des ganzen Trentino, 

im Namen der Organisatoren und der Autoritäten, denen 

wir hiermit für ihre Unterstützung danken. Ein weiteres 

Dankeschön gilt allen Chorsängern und Dirigenten, der 

internationalen Jury, der Stadtverwaltung von Riva del 

Garda, der autonomen Provinz Trento, der autonomen 

Region Trentino-Alto Adige, dem Trentiner Chorverband 

und den öffentlichen und privaten Institutionen, nicht 

zuletzt dem „Förderverein Interkultur“. 

Once again Riva del Garda represents itself by means 

of the choral music, the highest musical form, with the 

sixth version of the “In … canto sul Garda”. We present 

this event with great enthusiasm, and our town with its 

previliged location prides itself on another enrichment 

of its energy flow, which strengthens its artistic and cultural 

spirit due to each event. Dream, energy of life, art! 

The rhythm duplicates in a cosmic celebration of voices. 

These extraordinary moments, which we are lucky 

to take part in, are created for us by choirs from 16 

nations which have travelled to Riva from close and far 

away places: from China, Indonesia, Russia, Ireland and 

many other countries. Our town welcomes these nations 

with open arms and wishes all pleasant stay at the shores 

of the lake Garda. The community, the local part of 

the Trentino and the whole Trentino welcome you in the 

name of the organizers and of the authorities whereby 

we thank the latter for their support. Thank you also to 

all members of the choirs and to the conductors, the 

international jury, the municipal authority of Riva del 

Garda, the autonomous province Trento, the autonomous 

region Trentino-Alto Adige, the association of 

choirs of Trento and the public and private institutions, 

not the least the “Förderverein Interkultur”.

Im Namen aller Einwohner der Stadt Riva del Garda 

begrüße ich herzlich die große Zahl der Chorsängerinnen 

und Chorsänger, die sich aufgemacht haben, 

In...canto sul Garda“ mit Leben zu erfüllen. Diese sechste 

Ausgabe bestätigt das Bild eines kulturellen Ereignisses, 

welches Riva del Garda bereichert und auf 

intelligente Weise die Begegnung zwischen verschiedenen 

musikalischen Traditionen und künstlerischen 

Herangehensweisen fördert. 

Der Erfahrungsaustausch auf internationaler Bühne ist 

eine besondere und außergewöhnliche Gelegenheit für 

die verschiedenen teilnehmenden Gruppen. 

Ich denke, dass für jeden einzelnen Teilnehmer diese drei 

Tage anregend und motivierend sein werden. Die Stadt 

Riva del Garda und mit ihr das ganze Trentino, eine 

Region mit großer Tradition volkstümlichen Chorgesanges, 

nimmt Euch mit Freude und Enthusiasmus auf 

und wünscht Euch guten Erfolg für den Wettbewerb, aber 

vor allem einen angenehmen Aufenthalt im Kreise vieler 

Freunde. 

Mein besonderer Dank gilt den Organisatoren und den 

Jurymitgliedern, den künstlerischen Verantwortlichen 

und allen Leitern der teilnehmenden Chöre.

le centinaia di coriste e coristi che si accingono a dar 

vita a “in …canto sul Garda”. Questa sesta edizione 

rafforza l’immagine di un evento culturale, che arricchisce 

Riva del Garda e che promuove con intelligenza 

l’incontro fra sensibilità artistiche e musicali diverse. Le 

esperienze che si confrontano rappresentano, come è 

evidente, una opportunità straordinaria per le diverse 

compagini in concorso, su una ribalta internazionale. 

Credo che anche per i singoli partecipanti l’esito di 

questi tre giorni possa essere veramente stimolante. 

La città di Riva del Garda, e con essa tutto il Trentino 

(terra della coralità popolare), accoglie con simpatia ed 

entusiasmo tutti voi, augurandovi un felice esito del concorso, 

ma anzitutto un buon soggiorno in compagnia 

di tanti amici. 

Esprimo un particolare apprezzamento agli organizzatori 

ed un complimento ai componenti della giuria, ai 

responsabili artistici, a tutti i direttori dei gruppi partecipanti. 

I warmly welcome the large number of members of the 

choirs who have set out to fill “In…canto sul Garda” with 

life. This sixth version confirms the image of a cultural 

event which enriches Riva del Garda and which promotes 

the meeting of different musical traditions and of 

artistic approaches in an intelligent way. 

The exchange of experiences on an international platform 

is a special and extraordinary opportunity for the different 

participating groups. 

I believe that these three days will be stimulating and 

motivating for each individual participant. 

The city of Riva del Garda and the whole Trentino - a 

region with a large tradition of traditional choral music 

- welcome you with delight and enthusiasm und wishes 

you a lot of luck for the competition but above all a pleasant 

stay among many friends.

Cari Amici, 

a nome della Förderverein INTERKULTUR sono lieto di 

darvi il benvenuto alla sesta edizione del concorso 

corale internazionale „In...canto sul Garda“. Anche questa 

volta nella splendida città di Riva del Garda si sono 

dati appuntamento 45 cori provenienti da ben 16 

nazioni: una molteplicità impressionante di culture 

diverse, un viaggio per poter cantare insieme, stringere 

amicizie, proprio in sintonia con il nostro pensiero: 

costruire un ponte su cui incontrarsi. 

In un mondo mai così terribilmente minacciato dal terrorismo, 

oggi più che mai siamo convinti che la comprensione 

tra i popoli non prescinda dal rispetto 

reciproco che presuppone l’interesse e l’accettazione 

delle culture diverse dalle nostra. In questo intento, 

pensiamo che le manifestazioni di MUSICA MUNDI 

offrano un valido contributo. 

Il prossimo anno si svolgeranno i World Choir Games 

nella città di Xiamen, Cina. Siamo felici di assistere al 

continuo straordinario sviluppo del nostro ideale „corolimpico“ 

e che già per la quarta volta migliaia di coristi 

giugeranno al rintocco della campana “corolimpica” 

per celebrare il più grande concorso corale del 

mondo. 

Anche se il 6° Festival „In...canto sul Garda“ non è un’Olimpiade 

corale si ispira comunque all’ideale olimpico 

poiché anche qui vale il principio: „Esserci è il traguardo 

più importante“ ed con questo spirito olimpico 

sia rinnovato il mio cordiale benvenuto qui a Riva del 

Garda. Questo concorso si rivolge principalmente al folklore, 

alla musica sacra, al jazz, gospel e al pop 

moderno, generi e stili che fanno di questo festival un 

appuntamento particolarmente suggestivo, unico nel suo 

genere in tutta la serie di Musica Mundi. 

Vorrei ringraziare tutti i collaboratori che hanno contribuito 

alla riuscita del concorso e che instancabili anche 

in questi giorni si prodigano affinché questa nostra 

festa corale possa essere ancora una volta un avvenimento 

eccezionale insieme ai tutti gli amici di INTERKUL- 

TUR. 

Liebe Freunde, 

Im Namen der Foundation INTERKULTUR heiße ich Sie 

sehr herzlich zum 6. Internationalen Chorwettbewerb 

„In...canto sul Garda“ willkommen. Wiederum können 

wir 45 Chöre aus 16 Ländern im herrlichen Riva del 

Garda begrüßen. Die Vielfalt der Länder aus denen Sie 

angereist sind um gemeinsam zu singen, Freundschaften 

zu schließen und ganz im Sinne unseres Stiftungsgedankens 

„Brücken der Begegnung zu bauen“, 

ist beeindruckend. Gerade in einer Welt, die wie nie 

zuvor durch terroristiche und andere Gefahren bedroht 

ist, halten wir an dem Grundsatz fest, dass die Verständigung 

zwischen den Völkern nur durch Verständnis 

füreinander geschehen kann. Und das setzt das 

gegenseitige Kennen lernen und die Achtung der Kultur 

des anderen voraus. Unsere MUSICA MUNDI Veranstaltungen 

leisten hierzu einen kompetenten Beitrag. 

Im nächsten Jahr finden die World Choir Games in der 

chinesischen Metropole Xiamen statt. Wir freuen uns, 

dass sich unsere chorolympische Idee so hervorragend 

entwickelt und dann bereits zum vierten Mal tausende 

Sängerinnen und Sänger durch die chorlympische 

Glocke zum größten Chorwettbewerb der Welt gerufen 

werden. 

Auch wenn das 6. Festival „In...canto sul Garda“ keine 

Chorolympiade ist, verfolgt es doch die chorolympische 

Idee, denn auch hier gilt der Grundsatz: „Dabei sein ist 

die höchste Ehre“. In diesem Sinne, begrüße ich Sie 

herzlich in Riva del Garda. Unsere Veranstaltung ist

wiederum sehr bewusst auf die Folklore, die geistliche 

Chormusik und den Jazz/Gospel/ Modern- Bereich 

ausgerichtet, ein Spannungsbogen, der den besonderen 

Reiz dieses Treffens ausmacht und der so in keinem 

anderen der MUSICA MUNDI Festivals zum Tragen 

kommt. 

Ich danke allen fleißigen Helfern, die zum Gelingen 

des Wettbewerbs beigetragen haben und in diesen 

Tagen dafür sorgen, dass unser Chorfest wiederum ein 

beeindruckendes Erlebnis im Kreise der Freunde des Fördervereins 

INTERKULTUR werden kann.

In the name of the Foundation INTERKULTUR I want to 

welcome you to the 6th International Choir Competition 

“In…canto sul Garda”. 45 choirs from 16 countries have 

come to the beautiful town Riva del Garda. They have 

come in order to sing together, to make friends and to 

“build bridges” between this great variety of the different 

nations. 

For the very reason that the world is under such a 

threat of terrorism and similar dangers as it has never 

been before, we adhere to our principle that international 

understanding can only be realised by individuals 

in the spirit of understanding. And this requires the 

individual’s readiness to learn about and to respect the 

culture of other people. With our MUSICA MUNDI events 

we want to make our contribution to this. 

Next year the World Choir Games will be organised in 

the Chinese metropolitan City of Xiamen. We are very 

happy that our Choir-Olympic idea has been welcomed 

all over the world and at such an outstanding speed that 

the World Choir Games in China inviting thousands of 

choristers to the world’s biggests choral competition by 

means of the Choir-Olympic peace bell sound will 

already be the fourth event of its kind. 

Even if the 6th Festival “In…canto sul Garda” is no Choir 

Olympics we want to follow the Olympic idea as well, 

with the same principle “taking part is the greatest 

honour”. In the spirit of this Olympic thought, I welcome 

you to Riva del Garda, the town which has organized 

most of the MUSICA MUNDI Choir Competitions up to 

now. Intentionally, the main emphasis is put on Folk, 

Sacred Music, Jazz, Gospel and Popular Music, a mixture 

with a special charm. 

I want to thank all the hard-working assistants for their 

help making this choir festival an impressing experience 

among the friends of the Foundation INTERKUL- 

TUR.

Associazione Concorso Corale Internazionale - Riva del Garda 

È stata costituita il 17 dicembre 1991 per volontà di un gruppo di appassionati del canto corale che, su invito 

dell’allora Sindaco Enzo Bassetti, ha dato vita ad una Associazione di volontariato senza scopo di lucro, ma con 

finalità diversificate, sempre nell’ambito corale, quali ad esempio l’organizzazione di concorsi e festival, manifestazioni 

di carattere concertistico, corsi di perfezionamento musicale, seminari, laboratori, pubblicazioni e mostre. 

Dalla sua fondazione ad oggi si è assunta la responsabilità dell’organizzazione di cinque edizioni del Concorso 

Corale Internazionale e di tre edizioni del concorso “In... Canto sul Garda” (entrambi a cadenza biennale). L’Associazione 

svolge la sua attività con il contributo del Comune di Riva del Garda, della Provincia Autonoma di Trento, 

della FENIARCO e della Federazione Cori del Trentino, nonché attraverso l’opera volontaristica di un folto gruppo 

di appassionati del canto corale. E’ retta da un Consiglio Direttivo, alla cui presidenza è stato chiamato il Sig. Gian 

Carlo Boschin e si avvale della consulenza artistica di straordinari Maestri, quali il prof. Giovanni Acciai e il prof. 

Riccardo Giavina. 

Die Stiftung Concorso Corale Internazionale besteht seit dem 17. Dezember 1991 auf Wunsch einer begeisterten 

Gruppe von Liebhabern des Chorgesanges, die auf Aufforderung des ehemaligen Bürgermeisters Enzo Bassetti eine 

freiwillige Vereinigung gegründet haben. Die Vereinigung hat keine kommerzielle Absicht, sie hat unterschiedliche 

Ziele im Chorbereich wie z. B. die Organisation von Festivals, Wettbewerben, Konzerten, musikalischen Fortbildungskursen, 

Seminaren, Veröffentlichungen und Ausstellungen. Seit der Gründung hat die Vereinigung Concorso 

Corale Internazionale fünf Veranstaltungen des “Concorso Corale Internazionale” und zwei der “In...canto sul Garda” 

(beide zweijährliche Wettbewerbe) organisiert. 

Sie wird von der Gemeinde Riva, der Autonomen Provinz Trient, der FENIARCO und dem Trentiner Chorverband unterstützt, 

sowie von der Bereitschaft einer großen, begeisterten und freiwilligen Gruppe von Chorliebhabern. Die Vereinigung 

wird von einem Vorstand geleitet, dessen Präsident Her Gian Carlo Boschin ist. Künstlerische Leiter und 

Berater sind zwei berühmte Musiker, Prof. Giovanni Acciai und Prof. Riccardo Giavina. 

The Concorso Corale Internazionale Association of Riva del Garda was founded on 17th December 1991 by a group 

of choral lovers who were asked by the Mayor of the time, Enzo Bassetti, to give life to a non-profit making organization 

of volunteers with various aims, always within the choral field, for example organizing competitions, festivals, 

musical concerts, masterclasses, seminars, workshops, publications and exhibitions. From its foundation 

up until today it has organised five editions of the International Choir Competition and two editions of the competition 

“In... Canto sul Garda” (both biennial). The Association carries out its work with contributions from the Town 

Council of Riva del Garda, from the Autonomous Province of Trento, from FENIARCO and from the Trentino Choir 

Federation, as well as through the voluntary work of a large group of choral lovers. 

It is led by a board of directors with Mr Gian Carlo Boschin as President, and it also makes use of the artistic expertise 

of Professors Giovanni Acciai and Riccardo Giavina.

“IN…CANTO SUL GARDA” 

Was bedeutet es ? 

Aufgrund eines besonders glücklichen Doppelsinnes auf italienisch, haben wir unserem 

Festival diesen Namen gegeben: “incanto” bedeutet “faszinierend” und „sul Garda“ 

heißt „am Gardasee“; und dies halten wir für geographisch treffend. Außerdem 

„in...canto“ bedeutet „gemeinsam singen“ und diese „Mischung“, dieses Wortspiel, halten 

wir für unser Festival universal richtig und jederzeit anwendbar. 

“IN…CANTO SUL GARDA” 

What does it mean ? 

The reason why we gave this name to our Festival is because it has a particular lucky 

double meaning: “incanto“ means “spellbounding” and “sul Garda” means on Lake 

Garda, and we believe this geographically correct. “In canto” means “singing together” 

and we believe this play of words for our Festival universally right.

Un ponte per incontrarsi 

Il 1° Concorso Corale di Budapest la cui prima edizione risale al 1988 ha dato vita ad una delle più importanti 

serie di manifestazioni culturali d’Europa, denominata MUSICA MUNDI, che è diventato ormai un nome famoso 

in tutto il mondo grazie all’alto livello raggiunto sia sotto il profilo artistico che organizzativo nonché punto di riferimento 

della coralità internazionale. 

Il più grande successo della Fondazione INTERKULTUR, organizzatrice di questi eventi musicali, è stata l’idea di 

applicare l’antico ideale olimpico ad una con una manifestazione corale dalla quale sono nate le Olimpiadi corali 

nel 2000 a Linz (Austria) e in Corea del sud nell’ottobre del 2002, che segnano anche il momento d’inizio di un 

movimento corale olimpico. 

• L’idea 

MUSICA MUNDI è divenuto ormai sinonimo di un concetto artistico unico nell suo genere, poiché ha introdotto una 

novità rispetto al passato. Mentre importanti concorsi corali tradizionali sono riservati soltanto a cori appartenenti 

ad un’élite a livello internazionale, MUSICA MUNDI, collocandosi parallelamente alla forma tradizionale, apre le 

porte del confronto artistico a tutti i cori desiderosi di vivere l’esperienza del concorso e del festival in campo internazionale 

come momento di crescita. 

Uno dei valori ai quali il Comitato artistico di INTERKULTUR tiene maggiormente, è che all’interno delle proprie manifestazioni 

possano trovare spazio sia i migliori gruppi, sia la grande massa dei cori. Questa scelta artistica è stata 

copiata da numerosi concorsi sorti in questi ultimi anni. 

Con l’idea di organizzare le Olimpiadi corali ogni due anni, INTERKULTUR ha trovato la direzione che incoraggia 

il movimento corale internazionale verso nuovi impulsi e prospettive. 

• La funzione pedagogica 

Le manifestazioni di MUSICA MUNDI non sono però solamente concorsi e festival internazionali. Momento di grande 

interesse per i cori partecipanti costituiscono anche le numerose offerte di perfezionamento fondate su una grande 

competenza artistica e pedagogica. 

Durante la fase della consultazione per esempio, i cori hanno la possibilità di lavorare insieme a giurie internazionali 

ricevendo opinioni in merito al livello artistico nonché preziosi consigli pedagogico-artistici per affrontare 

meglio l’interpretazione del programma scelto. 

Parallelamente ai concorsi si organizzano quindi tra l’altro congressi , seminari per direttori di coro, corsi di perfezionamento, 

conferenze di compositori ed esperti della scena corale mondiale su temi specifici. I concerti e i suggestivi

Il nuovo concetto di base si concretizza nella realizzazione di concorsi che offrono più categorie divise per gradi 

di difficoltà per tutti i tipi di coro con o senza brani d’obbligo. In essi si vive un’atmosfera unica, in cui si offrono 

condizioni di partecipazione vantaggiose, dense occasioni di contatti artistici, interessanti workshops e consultazioni 

con esperti prima e dopo la prova in concorso vera e propria. Più di 200 tra esperti e direttori di coro in 

campo internazionale garantiscono la professionalità che contraddistingue le manifestazioni di MUSICA MUNDI.

I festival di MUSICA MUNDI si sono svolti in Austria, Corea del Sud, Germania, Israele, Italia, Malta, Repubblica 

Ceca, Svezia, Ungheria e negli USA. 

• I partecipanti 

2.800 cori con più di 125.000 coriste e coristi provenienti da 90 paesi hanno preso parte fino ad oggi ai concorsi 

di MUSICA MUNDI. Curiosità interessante: 

il 70% circa dei partecipanti non raggiunge i 30 anni di età.

Brücken der Begegnung 

Der 1988 ins Leben gerufene 1. Internationale Chorwettbewerb Budapest war der Ausgangspunkt zu einer der größten 

und erfolgreichsten kulturellen Veranstaltungsreihen in Europa. Der Name dieser neuartigen Chorwettbewerbe 

und Festivals, MUSICA MUNDI, ist mittlerweile in der ganzen Welt durch das hohe künstlerische und organisatorische 

Niveau bekannt und zu einem Begriff für die chororientierte Öffentlichkeit geworden. Auf der ganzen Welt finden 

sich begeistere Anhänger. Organisiert werden diese Veranstaltungen vom gemeinnützigen Förderverein 

INTERKULTUR e.V. Seinen bisher größten Erfolg konnte der Verein mit Anwendung der antiken olympischen Idee 

auf dem Gebiet der Chormusik verbuchen. Die Chorolympiaden 2000 in Linz (Österreich) und 2002 in Busan (Korea) 

waren zugleich der Beginn einer chorolympischen Bewegung. 

Die Idee 

MUSICA MUNDI ist mittlerweile zum Symbol für eine einzigartige künstlerische Idee geworden. Sie besteht in einer 

neuen Auffassung über die Durchführung von Chorwettbewerben: Während sich bei den verdienstvollen traditionellen 

Chorwettbewerben nur Chöre vergleichen, die zur internationalen Spitzenklasse gehören, stehen die MUSICA 

MUNDI Wettbewerbe neben dieser traditionellen Form erstmalig allen Chören der musikalischen Basis offen, die 

an internationaler Festival- und Wettbewerbserfahrung interessiert sind und sich auf diesem Gebiet dem Vergleich 

stellen wollen. Das künstlerische Komitee des Vereins legt Wert darauf, dass sich sowohl die Spitze wie auch die 

große Breite chorischen Musizierens in allen Wettbewerben wiederfindet. Diese neue Wettbewerbsform wurde in 

den letzten Jahren von zahlreichen neu entstandenen Wettbewerben kopiert. Mit der Idee, künftig alle zwei Jahre 

Chorolympiaden durchzuführen, hat der Förderverein INTERKULTUR e.V. ein Tor zu neuen Impulsen und Perspektiven 

der weltweiten Chorbewegung aufgestoßen. 

Das pädagogische Konzept 

Die MUSICA MUNDI Veranstaltungen sind nicht nur Wettbewerbe und internationale Chortreffen, sondern sie 

beziehen ihre Kompetenz und nachhaltige Wirkung bei den teilnehmenden Chören zunehmend aus zahlreichen 

pädagogischen Angeboten. So können sich Chöre beispielsweise in Beratungsrunden und intensiven Gesprächen 

vor dem Wettbewerb mit der internationalen Jury wertvolle Hinweise zu ihrem derzeitigen Leistungsstand geben 

lassen, fachkundige pädagogische und künstlerische Hinweise erhalten oder Ratschläge zur Interpretation bekommen. 

Weitere exklusive Möglichkeiten, dem eigenen Chorsingen neue Impulse zu verleihen, bestehen in Proben 

mit internationalen Chorfachleuten. Tangierend werden bei vielen MUSICA MUNDI Veranstaltungen außerdem 

Fachtagungen, Chorleiterseminare, Komponistenporträts und Fachvorträge angeboten. Begegnungskonzerte und 

gemeinsames Singen verstärken diese große emotionale Wirkung der internationalen Chortreffen des Fördervereins 

INTERKULTUR e. V. 

Die Wettbewerbe 

Sie werden in unterschiedlichen Kategorien für alle Chorarten und Leistungsklassen in verschiedenen Schwierigkeitsstufen 

mit und ohne Pflichtwerke durchgeführt. Sie bieten eine einzigartige Atmosphäre, gute Wettbewerbsbedingungen, 

intensive künstlerische Kontakte, unterschiedliche Beratungsprogramme und Workshops sowie 

Probemöglichkeiten mit internationalen Künstlern. Über 200 Experten und führende Chordirigenten aus aller Welt 

garantieren eine hohe fachliche Kompetenz aller MUSICA MUNDI Veranstaltungen. 

Die Wettbewerbs- und Festivalorte 

Bis jetzt haben die Veranstaltungen von MUSICA MUNDI in folgenden Ländern stattgefunden: Österreich, Korea, Deutschland, 

Israel, Italien, Malta, Tschechische Republik, Sschweden, Ungarn und in den USA. 

Die Teilnehmer 

Insgesamt 2.800 Chöre mit weit mehr als 125.000 aktiven Sängerinnen und Sängern aus 90 Ländern nahmen 

bisher an den MUSICA MUNDI Wettbewerben teil. Interessant ist, dass ca. 70% der Sängerinnen und Sänger unter 

30 Jahre alt sind.

Connecting Bridges 

The First International Choir Competition of Budapest, which was launched in 1988, was the start of one of the 

largest and most successful series of cultural events in Europe. The name of these novel choir competitions and 

festivals, MUSICA MUNDI, has meanwhile become known throughout the world for its high artistic and organisational 

standards and has become a concept for the choir-orientated public, with enthusiastic followers all over the 

world. These events are organized by the non-profit organisation INTERKULTUR Foundation. The Foundation’s biggest 

success so far, was to bring the antique Olympic idea to the choral world. The Choir Olympics 2000 in Linz 

(Austria) and the Choir Olympics 2002 in Busan (South Korea) were also the start of a Choir Olympic movement. 

The Idea 

Meanwhile MUSICA MUNDI has become the symbol for a unique artistic idea, which consists of a new interpretation 

concerning the execution of choir Festivals: In comparison to the meritorious traditional choir competitions, 

where only those choirs which belong to the international elite compete, the MUSICA MUNDI competitions are open 

for the first time to all choirs that are interested in gaining international festival and competition experience and want 

to be able to compare themselves with other choirs. The artistic committee of the foundation places emphasis on 

the presence of the highest level of choral performers as well as on the presence of the greatest diversity of choral 

performers in all competitions. This new type of competition has been copied by numerous newly launched competitions 

in the last few years. With the idea to organize the Choir Olympics biennial, INTERKULTUR Foundation 

has opened a door to new impulses and perspectives for the national and international choral movement. 

The Pedagogical Concept 

The MUSICA MUNDI events are not just competitions and international choir festivals, they gain their competence 

and lasting effect on its participants more and more by pedagogical offers. In consultation rounds, for example, 

the choirs have the chance to work together with the international jury and to get advice on their current level of 

performance, competent pedagogical and artistic information and suggestions as to how to interpret the chosen 

piece. In connection with that conventions, seminars for conductors, composer portraits and lectures are being offered 

at the MUSICA MUNDI events. Friendship and encounter concerts reinforce this big emotional effect of the international 

choir-meetings organized by INTERKULTUR Foundation. 

The Competitions 

There are various categories for all choir types and choir levels in different degrees of difficulty, with and without 

compulsory pieces. They offer a unique atmosphere, good competitive conditions, intensive artistic contacts, various 

consultation programs and workshops, as well as practice opportunities with international performers. More than 

200 experts and leading choirmasters from all over the world guarantee a high level of qualified competence in 

all MUSICA MUNDI events. 

Locations of Festivals and Competitions 

So far MUSICA MUNDI events have been taken place in Austria, Czech Republic, germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, 

Malta, Republic of Korea, Sweden and USA. 

The Participants 

In total, 2.800 choirs with 125.000 active singers from 90 countries have taken part in the MUSICA MUNDI competitions 

to date. It is interesting to note that 70% of the participants are under the age of 30.

Nato nel 1946 è titolare della cattedra di Storia della 

musica e Semiografia musicale antica presso il Conservatorio 

“G.Verdi” di Milano. Ha studiato organo, 

composizione e direzione di coro e si è specializzato 

in paleografia e filologia musicale presso l’Università 

degli studi di Pavia. Direttore della rivista di didattica e 

musica corale “La Cartellina”, ha al suo attivo numerose 

pubblicazioni e revisioni di musiche antiche, saggi 

musicologici, edizioni critiche. Già direttore della “Corale 

universitaria di Torino”, del “Coro del Teatro comunale 

di Bologna”, del “Polyphoniae studium” e maestro del 

“Coro da camera della RAI di Roma”, è attualmente direttore 

artistico e musicale dei “Solisti del madrigale” e del 

“Collegium vocale nova ars cantandi”. Per sua iniziativa 

sono sorti i corsi triennali di perfezionamento 

“Roberto Goitre”, dedicati alla direzione di coro e allo 

studio dell’interpretazione della musica vocale antica. 

Collabora con la RAI, con la Fondazione “Gioacchino 

Rossini” di Pesaro, con la Fondazione “Guido d’Arezzo” 

dell’omonima città e con l’Istituto Cherubini di 

Roma. Membro della Commissione artistica della 

FENIARCO, è presente nelle giurie dei più importanti concorsi 

nazionali e internazionali quali Arezzo, Gorizia, 

Tours, Budapest, Vittorio Veneto, Trento, Milano, 

Zwickau, ecc. e viene spesso invitato a tenere relazioni 

in convegni musicologici. Ha fatto parte della giuria alle 

scorse Olimpiadi corali di Linz (Austria, 2000), Busan 

(Corea, 2002), e Brema (2004). 

Giovanni Acciai wurde 1946 geboren. Er unterrichtet am 

Konservatorium “G.Verdi“ Musikgeschichte und Musiksemiographie 

der Alten Musik. Er studierte Orgel, Komposition 

und Chorleitung und spezialisierte sich später 

in den Fächern Musikpaleographie und Philologie an der 

Universität Pavia. Als Direktor der Zeitschrift für Chordidaktik 

und Chormusik „La Cartellina“ hat er verschiedene 

Veröffentlichungen und Revisionen von alter Musik 

sowie Essays und Kritiken verfaßt. Er war Leiter der 

„Corale Universitaria di Torino“, des „Coro del Teatro 

Comunale di Bologna“, des Kammerchores des Italienischen 

Rundfunks und des „Polyphoniae studium“. 

Giovanni Acciai leitet auch die „Solisti del Madrigale“ und 

das „Collegium Vocale Nova Ars Cantandi“. Auf eigene 

Intitiative hin sind die dreijährigen Meisterkurse „R. Goitre“ 

entstanden, die der Chorleitung und dem Studium der 

Interpretation der alten Chormusik gewidmet sind. Giovanni 

Acciai arbeitet mit der RAI, der „Fondazione G. Rossini“, 

Pesaro, mit der Fondazione G. d‘Arezzo“, Arezzo 

und dem „Istituto Cherubini“ zusammen. Er ist Mitglied 

der künstlerischen Kommission der FENIARCO (Bund Italienischer 

Chorverbände) und Juror in wichtigten nationalen 

und internationalen Chorwettbewerben (Arezzo, 

Gorizia, Tours, Budapest, Vittorio Veneto, Trento, Milano, 

Zwickau, u.v.m.) und bei den Chorolympiaden in Linz

Giovanni Acciai was born in 1946. He teaches musical

Arezzo and with the “Istituto Cherubini“ in Rome. He is

Artistic Committee 

Ralf Eisenbeiß, nato nel 1952, dopo il conseguimento 

della maturità ha studiato pedagogia, filologia germanica 

ed educazione musicale alla Scuola Superiore di 

Pedagogia di Zwickau diplomandosi nel 1979. Dal 

1978 al 1981 ha studiato direzione di coro e d’orchestra 

alla Scuola Superiore di Musica Franz Liszt di Weimar. 

Nel 1987 ha iniziato l’attività di insegnante di 

canto corale e direzione di coro. È stato direttore del Coro 

della Scuola Superiore di Pedagogia di Zwickau, con il 

quale ha conseguito numerosi premi in concorsi nazionali 

e internazionali. Nel suo repertorio, accanto alla letteratura 

a cappella dei diversi secoli troviamo anche 

opere di compositori contemporanei –e grandi lavori 

sinfonico corali. È stato docente al seminario centrale 

per direttori di coro di Berlino e ha tenuto numerosi corsi 

di perfezionamento. É spesso direttore ospite in patria 

e all’estero, tra gli altri ha diretto il Coro della Trinity 

Western University a Vancouver in Canada. È direttore 

artistico del Concorso Corale Internazionale Robert 

Schumann di Zwickau, inoltre è membro del Comitato 

artistico della Förderverein Interkultur e.V. e di Musica 

Mundi nonché direttore artistico delle Olimpiadi Corali. 

Ralf Eisenbeiß wurde 1952 geboren. Nach dem Abitur 

studierte er an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Zwickau 

Pädagogik und die Fächer Germanistik und Musikerziehung. 

Er promovierte 1979 zur Geschichte der jüngeren 

Chormusik zum Dr. phil. Von 1978-1981 studierte 

er an der Musikhochschule “Franz Liszt” in Weimar 

Chor- und Orchesterdirigieren. Als Inhaber des Lehrstuhles 

Chorleitung und Chorgesang wurde Ralf Eisenbeiß 

1987 zum Professor berufen. Er war Leiter des 

Chores der Pädagogischen Hochschule Zwickau, der im 

In- und Ausland bekannt war und bei nationalen und 

internationalen Wettbewerben zahlreiche Preise gewann. 

Neben einem umfangreichen Repertoire an a-cappella- 

Literatur verschiedenster Jahrhunderte, vor allem auch 

moderner Komponisten, standen die großen chorsinfonischen 

Werke auf dem Programm. Ralf Eisenbeiß 

war Dozent beim Zentralen Chorleiterseminar in Berlin 

und leitete selbst zahlreiche Seminare. Er ist häufig 

Gastdirigent im In- und Ausland, so unter anderem 

beim Chor der Trinity Western University in Vancouver 

(Kanada). Er ist Leiter des Internationalen Robert-Schumann-Chorwettbewerbes, 

der seit 1992 in der Geburtsstadt 

des Komponisten, Zwickau, mit großem Erfolg 

durchgeführt wird, und Mitglied im künstlerischen Komitee 

des Förderverein Interkultur und gleichzeitig ist er künstlerischer 

Leiter der Chorolympiade. 

Ralf Eisenbeiß was born in 1952. He studied pedagogy, 

German philology and musical education and received 

his doctorate in 1979. From 1978 to 1981, he studied 

choir and orchestra conducting at the Franz Liszt Conservatory 

in Weimar and was appointed professor in 

1987. He was conductor of the renowned Pedagogical 

University Zwickau Choir with which he won numerous 

prizes at national and international choir competitions 

with an extensive repertoire ranging from a cappella literature 

from different centuries, modern composers as 

well as great choral symphonic works. He was lecturer 

at the central seminar for choral conductors in Berlin. 

He often appears as guest conductor at home and 

abroad, i.e., with the choir of the Trinity Western University 

in Vancouver (Canada). Ralf Eisenbeiß is the artistic 

director of the International Robert Schumann Choir 

Competition in Zwickau, and member of the Artistic 

Committee of the Interkultur Foundation as well as artistic 

director of the Choir Olympics.

Artistic Committee 

Gábor Hollerung è nato nel 1954 a Budapest, ha studiato 

all’Accademia musicale “F.Liszt”, diplomandosi in 

direzione di coro e d’orchestra completando in seguito 

gli studi ai corsi di perfezionamento di László Somogyi, 

Eric Ericson e Kurt Masur. Dal 1980 è direttore della 

Società corale dell’Accademia di Budapest, con la quale 

in vent’anni di attività ha vinto in quasi tutti i più importanti 

concorsi corali europei tra cui il Gran Premio al 

Béla Bartók International Choir Competition di Debrecen 

e il titolo di “Choir of the World” a Llangollen. Dal 1989 

è direttore dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Dohnányi Budafok, 

di cui è dal 2001 anche Direttore Musicale. Nel 1995 

ha tenuto corsi di perfezionamento al Simposio Internazionale 

della IFCM (International Federation for Choral 

Music) a Ljubljana. È spesso invitato a tenere 

concerti o come docente in master class per direttori di 

coro. Dal 2001 è direttore musicale dell’ Ensemble 

Honvéd. Dal 2002 è primo direttore ospite della Jerusalem 

Symphony Orchestra e consulente artistico della 

“Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv”. Accanto agli impegni 

europei, viene spesso invitato quale direttore ospite in 

Israele, Taiwan e negli Stati Uniti. Dal 1996 è stato invitato 

con il suo coro al 4° Simposio Mondiale della 

IFCM che si è tenuto a Sidney. È uno dei direttori artistici 

della Förderverein INTERKULTUR e delle Olimpiadi 

Corali. Nel 2002 gli è stata conferita la Croce al Merito 

delle Repubblica d’Ungheria. Nel 2004 ha vinto il Premio 

Liszt. 

Gábor Hollerung wurde 1954 in Budapest geboren, 

studierte Chor- und Orchesterleitung an der Franz-Liszt- 

Musikakademie und besuchte später die Meisterkurse 

von László Somogyi, Eric Ericson und Kurt Masur. Seit 

1980 ist er Leiter der Budapester Akademischen Chorgemeinschaft. 

In den vergangenen 20 Jahren ist er mit 

seinem Chor bei fast allen angesehenen europäischen 

Chorwettbewerben als Sieger hervorgegangen. So wurde 

seinem Chor z.B. der Großpreis beim Internationalen 

Béla Bartók Chorwettbewerb in Debrecen und der Titel 

„Chor der Welt“ in Llangollen verliehen. Seit 1989 ist er 

der Dirigent, seit 2001 der Musikdirektor des Dohnányi 

Sinfonieorchesters von Budafok. Seit 2001 ist Gábor 

Hollerung Musikdirektor des „Honvéd-Ensembles“. Er 

wird weltweit als Gastdirigent eingeladen und leitet 

regelmäßig Kurse für Dirigenten. Seit 2002 ist er Erster 

Gastdirigent beim Jerusalem Sinfonieorchester und künstlerischer 

Berater der Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. 

1995 hielt er einen Meisterkurs beim IFCM Europäischen 

Symposium in Ljubljana und 1996 wurde er mit seinem 

Chor zum IV. Weltsymposium nach Sydney eingeladen. 

Er ist mitbegründer der MUSICA MUNDI Festivalreihe, 

einer ihrer künstlerischen Leiter sowie künstlerischer 

Direktor der Chorolympiaden. 2002 erhielt er das Ritterkreuz 

des Verdienstordens der Ungarischen Republik. 

2004 wurde er mit dem Liszt Preis ausgezeichnet. 

Gábor Hollerung was born in 1954 in Budapest, studied 

choral and orchestral conducting at the Liszt Academy 

of Music and later attended the master classes of László 

Somogyi, Eric Ericson and Kurt Masur. He has been the 

choral director of the Budapest Academic Choral Society 

since 1980. During the past 20 years his choir was the 

winner of almost all reputed European choir competitions. 

The Grand Prize at the Béla Bartók International Choir 

Competition in Debrecen and the title “Choir of the World” 

in Llangollenwas awarded to his choir. Since 1989 he 

has been principal conductor, since 2001 Music Director 

of the Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra Budafok. In 

1995 he held a conducting class at the IFCM European 

Symposium in Ljubljana. He is sought after as guest conductor 

throughout the world and he regularly holds courses 

for choral conductors. Since 2001 he has been 

Music Director of “Honvéd-Ensemble”. He has been 

Principal Guest Conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony 

Orchestra since 2002, and Musical advisor of the 

Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. In 1996 he was invited 

with his choir to the IFCM 4th World Symposium on Choral 

Music in Sydney. He is one of the artistic directors of 

the MUSICA MUNDI festival series and the Choir Olympics. 

In 2002 he was awarded the Knights’ Cross Order 

of the Hungarian Republic and in 2004 the Liszt Prize.

Roberto Beccaria 

Italia - Italien - Italy 

Roberto Beccaria si è diplomato in Organo, Composizione 

organistica, Musica corale e Direzione di coro al 

Conservatorio “G. Verdi” di Torino. In seguito ha studiato 

clavicembalo e musica afroamericana. Si è perfezionato 

in repertorio corale e direzione di coro agli stages di Giovanni 

Acciai, Marco Berrini, Peter Erdei, Kurt Suttner, 

Gary Graden, Robert Ray, Neemiah Brown, Jonathan 

Rathbone, Scott Stroman, Simon Carrington. Ha al suo 

attivo un’intensa attività concertistica con formazioni jazzistiche 

e con artisti di fama internazionale nonché 

una collaborazione con l’orchestra nazionale della RAI 

di Torino. È inoltre autore di una vasta produzione di 

armonizzazioni e arrangiamenti di opere spirituals e 

gospels nonché direttore artistico e co-produttore di 

vari lavori discografici. È stato maestro di numerosi cori 

ed ensemble di musica rinascimentale, Gospel e negro 

spirituals con i quali ha ottenuto importanti riconoscimenti 

in concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. Attualmente 

dirige i gruppi vocali Trust in Jesus Gospel Choir 

e - dalla sua fondazione avvenuta nel 1989 - Cantus 

Firmus. È stato docente di vari corsi di perfezionamento 

e stages tra cui quello sulla musica gospel 

tenuto a Pescara con Maria Teresa Milano con la quale 

insegna musica afroamericana all’Istituto Musicale di 

Fossano (CN), dove è inoltre assistente del M° Giovanni 

Acciai al corso di perfezionamento di polifonia rinascimentale. 

È stato membro della giuria al Concorso 

Roberto Beccaria studierte am Nationalen Konservatorium 

in Turin (Italien). Er erhielt seinen Diplomabschluss 

in den Fächern Orgel und Komposition sowie in 

Chormusik und Chordirigieren. Später studierte er Generalbaß 

und afroamerikanische Musik. Er nahm an vielen 

Workshops über Chormusik und Dirigieren teil, zum 

Beispiel bei Giovanni Acciai, Marco Berrini, Peter Erdei, 

Kurt Suttner, Gary Graden, Robert Ray, Neemiah Brown, 

Jonathan Rathbone, Scott Stroman und Simon Carrington. 

Roberto Beccaria gab viele Konzerte mit Jazzbesetzungen 

und mit namhaften Künstlern und führte 

Produktionen mit dem Nationalen Italienischen Rundfunk- 

und Fernsehorchester durch (RAI, Turin) und 

arbeitete als künstlerischer Berater und Co-produzent. 

Außrdem arrangierte er zahlreiche Spirituals und 

Gospels. Als Dirigent leitete er mehrere Chöre und 

Ensembles mit verschiedenem Repertoire (Renaissancemusik, 

Gospel, Spiritual), mit denen er zahlreiche 

Preise bei nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben 

gewann. Zur Zeit dirigiert er die Gruppen Trust in Jesus 

Gospel Choir und seit seiner Gründung 1989 Cantus Firmus. 

Er war Leiter unzähliger Meisterkurse. Zum Beispiel 

führte er einen Kurs über Gospelmusik in Zusammenarbeit 

mit Maria Teresa Milano durch mit der er afroamerikanische 

Musik an der Musikschule in Fossano 

lehrt. An der gleichen Musikschule ist er ebenfalls Assistent 

von Giovanni Acciai in einem Kurs über Aufführungspraxis 

von Renaissancemusik. Roberto Beccaria 

war Juror am Nationalen Chorwettbewerb in Quartiano 

(Italien 2000 und 2002) und Künstlerischer Sekretär im 

Chorverband Piedmontesischer Chöre vom 1998-2000. 

Seit 1998 ist er Künstlerischer Leiter der “Manifestazioni 

Incontri Corali di Mondovì (Italien). 

Roberto Beccaria studied Organ and Composition and 

Choral Music and Choral Conducting at the National 

Conservatory of Turin (Italy). He also studied throughbass 

performance on harpsichord and Afroamerican 

music. He followed the master classes leaded by Giovanni 

Acciai and the workshops on choral music and 

choir conducting by Marco Berrini, Peter Erdei, Kurt 

Suttner, Gary Graden, Robert Ray, Neemiah Brown, 

Jonathan Rathbone, Scott Stroman, Simon Carrington. 

He held a lot of concerts with jazz, gospel and spiritual 

ensembles and worked with vocalists of international

fame. He collaborated with the Rai Orchestra of Turin, 

the Italian Radio Television National Orchestra. Further, 

he is author of many arrangements of spirituals and 

gospels works and has produced many recordings. 

As conductor he led many choirs, with with which he 

has won many first prizes at national and international 

contests. Presently he is the conductor of the vocal 

groups Trust in Jesus Gospel Choir and - since its 

foundation of Cantus Firmus. He taught many master 

classes and stages, among which the stage on Gospel 

music in collaboration with Maria Teresa Milano with 

whom he also teaches Afroamerican music at Civic 

School of Music in Fossano, where he’s also assistant 

of Giovanni Acciai in a course of renaissance choral 

performing improvement. He was juror at the Quartiano 

Choir Contest in 2000 and 2002 and from 1998- 

2000 he was artistic advisor of the Association Choirs 

of Piedmont. Since 1998 he has been Artistic Director 

of the Manifestazioni Incontri Corali di Mondovì (Cuneo, 

Italy).

Sandro Filippi 

Italia - Italien - Italy 

Nato a Trento, ha studiato con Renato Dionisi, Bruno 

Zanolini, Carlo Pirola, diplomandosi presso il Conservatorio 

di Milano in "Composizione polifonica vocale” e 

"Strumentazione per banda " e presso il Conservatorio di 

Verona in "Musica corale e direzione di coro". E' stato direttore 

de "I Musici cantori" di Trento con i quali ha svolto una 

intensissima attività concertistica vincendo in concorsi 

nazionali e internazionali. Fa parte della Commissione artistica 

della Fondazione coro SAT. Viene regolarmente invitato 

membro di giuria in concorsi corali che di 

composizione sia nazionali che internazionali. È risultato 

vincitore del Il Premio all’ 11° Concorso internazionale di 

composizione "Ivan Spassov " a Plovdiv (Bulgaria), ha 

inoltre vinto la quinta edizione del Concorso di composizione 

" Paolo Valenti- Musica e Sport " a Roma e la prima 

edizione del Concorso nazionale Città di Pontremoli 2001 

per la didattica. Oltre a composizioni per coro ed elaborazioni 

di canti popolari, ha scritto per organo e pianoforte 

ottenendo diversi premi e segnalazioni in concorsi nazionali 

ed internazionali. Sue opere sono state scelte come 

brani d'obbligo in concorsi corali nazionali ed internazionali. 

Dal 2004 è direttore artistico dell'Accademia Musicale 

S. Giorgio di Verona e direttore del coro da camera 

annesso alla stessa. E' docente di Direzione di coro e repertorio 

corale per Didattica della musica presso il Conservatorio 

“Monteverdi" di Bolzano. 

Sandro Filippi wurde in Trento geboren. Er hat bei Renato 

Dionisi, Bruno Zanolini und Carlo Pirola studiert und am 

Konservatorium von Mailand in polyphoner Vokal komposition 

und Blasorchesterinstrumentation, sowie am Konservatorium 

von Verona in Chormusik und Chordirigat 

diplomiert. Er war Leiter der „I Musici Cantori“ aus Trento, 

mit denen er zahlreiche Konzerte gab und nationale sowie 

internationale Wettbewerbe gewann. Er ist Mitglied des Künstlerischen 

Komitees der „Fondazione coro SAT“. Sandro 

Filippi wird regelmäßig als Jurymitglied bei nationalen 

und internationalen Chor- und Kompositionswettbewerben 

eingeladen. Vom 11. Internationalen Kompositionswettbewerb 

„Ivan Spassov“ in Plovdiv, Bulgarien, ist er als 

Träger des zweiten Preises zurückgekehrt, darüber hinaus 

hat er Preise beim Kompositionswettbewerb „Paolo Valenti- 

Musica e Sport“ in Rom, und dem ersten Nationalen Wettbewerb 

für Musikdidaktik der Stadt Pontremoli 2001 

gewonnen. Außer Kompositionen für Chor und Volksmusikbearbeitungen, 

hat er Werke für Orgel und Klavier geschrieben, 

die ebenfalls preisgekrönt wurden. Seine 

Kompositionen wurden als Pflichtwerke bei nationalen 

und internationalen Chorwettbewerben ausgewählt. Seit 

2004 ist er Künstlerischer Direktor der „Accademia Musicale 

San Giorgio“ in Verona und Leiter dessen Kammerchores. 

Er ist Dozent für Chordirigieren und Repertoire für 

Musikdidaktik am Konservatorium „Monteverdi“ in Bozen. 

Sandro Filippi was born in Trento. He was taught by

in Rome as well as the 1st national competition for music 

didactics of the city of Pontremoli in 2001. In addition to 

choir compositions and folk music arrangements he wrote 

works for organ and piano for which he won many prizes 

and awards at national and international competitions. His 

competitions have been selected as compulsory pieces at 

national and international choir competitions. Since 2004 

Sandro Filippi has been art director of “Accademia Musicale 

San Giorgio” in Verona and conductor of their chamber 

choir. Moreover, he works as lecturer for choral 

conducting and repertoire for music didactics at the conservatory 

“Monteverdi” in Bozen.

Peter Habermann war Mitglied des Dresdner Kreuzchores 

und studierte in Dresden im Hauptfach Gesang. 

Seit 1984 ist er künstlerische Lehrkraft am heutigen Landesgymnasium 

für Musik Wernigerode. Er war viele 

Jahre Assistent und stellvertretender künstlerischer Leiter 

bem Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode (Prof. Dr. 

Friedrich Krell) und leitete mehrere Jahre den Kinderchor 

dieser Einrichtung. Von 1996 bis 2004 war er Leiter des 

Rundfunk-Jugendchores Wernigerode. 2003 gründete 

er aus dessen ehemaligen Mitgliedern den Kammerchor 

Wernigerode. Bei verschiedensten nationalen und internationalen 

Wettbewerben konnte er mit seinen Chören 

stets erste Plätze belegen. Neben seiner hauptamtlichen 

Tätigkeit als Gesanglehrer am Landesmusikgymnasium 

in Wernigerode ist er bisher außerdem als Leiter 

weiterer Chorformationen sowie als Gesangssolist, Sprecher 

und Moderator, Komponist und als Dozent für 

Stimmbildung tätig gewesen. 

Peter Habermann 

Germania - Deutschland - Germany 

Peter Habermann è stato membro del prestigioso coro 

di voci bianche Dresdner Kreuzchor. Diplomatosi in 

canto a Dresda, dal 1984 insegna al Liceo Musicale di 

Wernigerode. Per molti anni è stato maestro sostituto 

di Friedrich Krell e vice direttore artistico del Rundfunk 

Jugendchor Wernigerode (Coro Giovanile della Radio 

di Wernigerode), di cui ha diretto per anni la formazione 

di voci bianche. Dal 1996 al 2004, è stato il maestro 

ufficiale del Rundfunk Jugendchor Wernigerode, dai 

cui ex componenti ha fondato nel 2003 il coro da 

camera Kammerchor Wernigerode. Con questo coro ha 

vinto numerosi primi premi in concorsi nazionali ed 

internazionali. Oltre alla professione di insegnante di 

canto al Liceo Musicale di Wernigerode, ha svolto 

un’intensa attività collaborando con formazioni corali, 

come cantante solista, oratore, compositore e docente 

di educazione della voce. 

Peter Haberman took courses in singing at the University 

of Dresden. He has been a member of the Dresdner 

Choir of the Holy Cross. Since 1984, he has taught 

at the State Grammar School for Music in Wernigerode. 

Many years he has been assistant and vice artistic 

director with Friedrich Krell for the Radio Youth 

Choir Wernigerode, whose children choir was conducted 

by him for many years. From 1986 to 1996 he was 

deputy head, and from 1996 to 2004 artistic head of 

the Wernigerode Radio Youth Choir, with whose past 

members he founded in 2003 the Chamber Choir Wernigerode. 

With this choir he has won first prizes in 

several national and international choir contests. He continues 

to be active as director of further choirs, as 

soloist and composer, though the teaching of voice 

training at the State Grammar School remains his primary 

focus.

Prof. Inès Reiger 

Austria - Österreich - Austria 

Diplomata in Arte drammatica, teoria jazzistica, arrangiamento 

e musicologia, vocal e pianoforte jazz presso 

il Conservatorio di Vienna, dove ha iniziato ad insegnare 

nel 1983. Dal 1994 - 1995 ha insegnato presso il Conservatorio 

di Weimar e dal 1998 è titolare della cattedra 

di pedagogia, canto corale jazz e musica d’insieme 

al Conservatorio di Graz. Dal 1983 tiene corsi di perfezionamento 

e seminari in canto e tecnica vocale pop 

e Jazz, svolgendo parallelamente un’intensa attività 

concertistica in patria e all’estero e presso festival 

nazionali ed internazionali. Ha prodotto inoltre numerose 

incisioni radiofoniche e televisive sia come solista 

e corista. Ha collaborato con numerosi artistici jazz in 

campo internazionale fra cui la WDR Big Band, Peter 

Herbolzheimer, Wayne Darling, Ellis Marsalis, Stepko 

Gut e Richard Oesterreicher, l’ultimo CD „Blue Moon“, 

la vede in quintetto con Thomas Huber. 

Prof. Inès Reiger absolvierte ein Studium in den Fächern 

Musical und Schauspiel am Konservatorium der Stadt 

Wien. Es schlossen sich Studien der Jazztheorie, Arrangement, 

der Theaterwissenschaft und der Musikwissenschaft 

Jazzgesang und Jazzklavier an. Ihre 

Lehrtätigkeit begann sie 1983 am Franz-Schubert-Konservatorium 

in Wien. 1994 - 1995 nahm sie eine 

Gastprofessur an der Musikhochschule Weimar an. 

Seit 1998 arbeitet Inès Reiger als Professorin an der 

Musikhochschule Graz in den Fächern Pädagogik, 

Jazzgesang, Repertoireensemble und Jazzchor und 

unterrichtet seit 1983 bei zahlreichen Workshops und 

Seminaren im In- und Ausland Gesangs- und Sprechtechnik, 

Pop und Jazz. Eine umfangreiche Konzerttätigkeit 

führte sie ins In- und Ausland Darüber hinaus 

hatte sie eigene Rundfunkproduktionen, TV Auftritte, 

Gesangs- und Sprachaufnahmen für Werbung im Funkund 

Fernsehen und zahlreiche Plattenaufnahmen als 

Solistin bzw. Backgroundsängerin. Sie arbeitete mit 

zahlreichen internationalen Jazzkünstlern zusammen, 

unter anderem mit der WDR Big Band, Peter Herbolzheimer, 

Wayne Darling, Ellis Marsalis, Stepko Gut 

und Richard Oesterreicher. Gegenwärtiges Projekt ist die 

Quintett CD „Blue Moon“, die Ines Reiger gemeinsam mit 

Thomas Huber realisiert. 

Prof. Inès Reiger studied music and drama at the Vienna 

conservatory, then she decided to take up further studies 

and chose Jazz Theory, Arrangement, Drama 

Science and Musicology. Additionally Inès Reiger acquired 

teaching qualification for Jazz Singing and Jazz 

Piano. She began teaching at the Franz Schubert Conservatory 

in Vienna in 1983 and from 1994 to 1995 

she was appointed to a guest professorship at the Conservatory 

of Weimar. Since 1998 Ines Reiger has been 

working at the Conservatory of Graz teaching Pedagogic, 

Jazz Singing, Repertoire Ensemble and Jazz Choir. 

Due to considerable concert activities she went to 

various places and countries, she participated in international 

festivals, she had her own broadcast productions, 

TV appearances, recordings for radio and TV 

commercials. Furthermore she did a lot of recording as 

soloist or background singer. She worked together with 

numerous international jazz artists, among them the 

WDR BIG Band, Peter Herbolzheimer, Wayne Darling, 

Ellis Marsalis, Stepko Gut and Richard Oesterreicher. Her 

current project is the Blue Moon CD which she is realizing 

together with Thomas Huber.

Johan Rooze

Johan Rooze ha studiato pianoforte e direzione di coro al 

Conservatorio di Utrecht. Malgrado la sua formazione

director of the Vocal Jazz ensembles at the Conservatory 

of Rotterdam. He directs the Utrecht Bach Cantata Society 

and the professional “Dudok” Ensemble in Hilversum. He 

is a member of the artistic committee of the Royal Christian 

Singers Society (KCZB) and is the artistic manager for the 

International Choir Festival 2005 in Arnhem (the Netherlands). 

He taught at workshops in France,

conductor for the National Radio Choir (Groot Omroepkoor). 

He arranges for Vocal ensembles and composed the music

Matthias Schmidt

Matthias Schmidt è nato nel 1972, ha studiato a Francoforte 

diplomandosi in direzione di coro, pianoforte, 

organo armonia e canto. È inoltre diplomato in musicologia 

e pedagogia musicale. Attualmente dirige con 

successo ben 10 cori nelle città di Limburg, Wetzlar e 

Gießen. Già dall’inizio della professione di maestro di 

coro ha ottenuto importanti premi e riconoscimenti partecipando 

con i suoi cori a concorsi nazionali tra i 

quali ricordiamo Lindenholzausen (1993) e il Concorso 

Nazionale dell’Assia (2001 e 2005). A livello internazionale 

è stato vincitore di numerosi primi premi con 

diplomi d’oro (Budapest, 1993, Pohlheim, 1998 e 

Riva del Garda, 1999). Matthias Schmidt ha potuto bissare 

i precedenti successi in occasione della terza edizione 

delle Olimpiadi Corali svoltasi a Brema nel 2004, 

con il coro „Cäcilia Lindenholzhausen“, proclamato 

vincitore di categoria. Svolge inoltre intensa attività in 

seminari, come critico e giurato. 

Matthias Schmidt wurde 1972 geboren. Nach dem 

Abitur studierte er Chorleitung in Frankfurt sowie Klavier, 

Orgel, Harmonielehre und Gesang. Er ist unter anderem 

Magister der Musikwissenschaft und Musikpädagogik. 

Zurzeit arbeitet er als freischaffender Chordirigent sehr 

erfolgreich mit 10 Chören im Großraum Limburg/Wetzlar-Gießen. 

Bereits seit dem Beginn seiner Tätigkeit als 

Chordirigent konnte er mit seinen Chören nationale 

Erfolge aufweisen, so 1993 in Lindenholzhausen, 2001 

und 2005 beim Hessischen Chorwettbewerb. Im internationalen 

Wettbewerbsgeschehen erhielt er goldene 

Diplome beziehungsweise wurde Kategoriesieger unter 

anderem 1993 in Budapest, 1998 in Pohlheim und 

1999 in Riva del Garda. Seinen bisher größten Erfolg 

konnte Matthias Schmidt bei der 3. Chorolympiade 

2005 in Bremen verbuchen, wo er mit dem Chor 

„Cäcilia Lindenholzhausen“ Chorolympiadesieger wurde. 

Matthias Schmidt ist auch sehr intensiv als Workshopund 

Seminarleiter sowie als Kritiker und Juror tätig. 

Matthias Schmidt was born 1972. After having finished 

school he studied choral conducting as well as 

piano, organ, harmony and singing. Amongst others he 

has a master’s degree in musicology and music pedagogics. 

He is currently working very successfully as a 

freelance conductor with 10 choirs in the region of 

Limburg/Wetzlar – Giessen. Starting his work as a conductor 

he soon had great success within Germany, for 

example in Lindenholzhausen in 1993 as well as at the 

Hessian Choir Competition (“Hessischer Chorwettbewerb”) 

in 2001 and 2005. Receiving golden diplomas 

and becoming category winner he also showed 

great achievements in international competitions, 

amonst others in Budapest (Hungary) in 1993, in 

Pohlheim (Germany) in 1998 and in Riva del Garda 

(Italy) in 1999. At the 3rd Choir Olympics in Bremen 

(Germany) in 2005 Matthias Schmidt was awarded 

Choir Olympic Winner with his choir “Cäcilia Lindenholzhausen”, 

which has been his greatest success 

so far. Matthias Schmidt regularly gives workshops 

and often works as critic and juror.

Igor Tsilin 

Russia - Russland - Russia 

Igor Michailovich Tsilin è nato nel 1959, si è diplomato 

in musica corale frequentando la Scuola di Musica di 

Lipetsk e il Conservatorio di Kazan. Dopo il diploma ha 

iniziato a dirigere il coro “Chors of Boys of the Regional 

Palace of Culture”, in seguito ha diretto il coro 

accademico „Academic Chorus“. Dal 1994 è direttore 

artistico e maestro del coro cittadino da camera “Lipetsk” 

con il quale ha ottenuto numerosi successi tra cui ricordiamo 

il concorso di Torrevieja nel 2002 (Spagna) 

(dove gli è stato assegnato inoltre il premio per la 

migliore direzione), il diploma d’oro al Concorso Corale 

Internazionale di Budapest nel 2003 e due gran premi 

vinti ai concorsi internazionali “Johannes Brahms” a 

Wernigerode (Germania) e al Concorso Corale Internazionale 

di Riva del Garda. Nel 2004 il coro ha vinto 

ha vinto il diploma d’oro durante la scorsa edizione delle 

Olimpiadi Corali svoltesi a a Brema (Germania). In 

patria Igor Michailovich Tsilin è stato insignito di onorificenze 

importanti da parte dell’amministrazione cittadina 

e regionale e da parte dell’assessorato alla 

cultura locale e regionale. Nel 1999 gli è stata conferita 

la Medaglia del Ministero della Cultura e nel 2004 

il titolo „Illustre Artista di Russia“ dal Presidente Putin. 

Igor Michailovich Tsilin insegna canto corale all’Università 

di Lipetsk. 

Igor Michailovich Tsilin wurde am 15. Februar 1959 

geboren. Er studierte Chormusik an der Musikschule 

Lipetsk und an der Staatlichen Musikhochschule von 

Kazan. Nach seinem Abschluss an der Musikhochschule 

leitete er den Knabenchor des Kulturpalastes, 

später dirigierte er dort den Akademischen Chor. Seit 

1994 ist Igor Michailovich Tsilin künstlerischer Leiter und 

Chefdirigent des städtischen Kammerchores Lipetsk. 

Im Sommer 2002 gewann der Chor den Chorwettbewerb 

in Torrevieja (Spanien) wo er auch einen Preis 

als bester Dirigent bekam. Im April 2003 errang der Chor 

ein goldenes Diplom beim Internationalen Chorwettbewerb 

Budapest (Ungarn) und wurde Großpreisgewinner 

des „Internationalen Johannes - Brahms - 

Chorfestivals & Wettbewerbs Wernigerode“ (Deutschland) 

sowie des Wettbewerbs „Concorso Corale Internazionale“ 

in Riva del Garda (Italien). Bei der 

Chorolympiade im Juli 2004 in Bremen (Deutschland) 

erhielt der Chor ein goldenes Diplom. Igor Michailovich 

Tsilin wurde ausgezeichnet mit Dankesbriefen, mit 

Diplomen der Stadt und der Regionalverwaltung sowie 

des städtischen und regionalen Kultusministeriums. Im 

Jahr 1999 wurde Tsilin eine Medaille „Für kulturelle Leistungen“ 

des russischen Kultusministeriums, 2004 der 

Titel „The honoured artist of Russia“ von Präsident Putin 

verliehen. Igor Michailovich Tsilin ist darüber hinaus als 

Dozent für Gesang an der Universität von Lipetsk tätig. 

Igor Michailovich Tsilin was born in 1959. He graduated 

in choral music from the Lipetsk musical school and 

from the Kazan State Conservatoire. After graduating he 

conducted the Chorus of Boys of the regional Palace of 

Culture, later on he conducted the Academic Chorus of 

the Palace. Since 1994 he has been the art director and 

the chief conductor of the Lipetsk Municipal Chamber 

Chorus. With this choir he won many important prizes 

at various international contests such as Torrevieja in 

Spain (2002), where he also received the prize as 

“Best Conductor”, at the Budapest Choir Competition in 

2003 (Hungary), and two grand prizes at the Brahms 

competition in Germany (Wernigerode) and in Riva del 

Garda (Italy). Also during the International Choir Olympics 

in 2004 in Bremen (Germany), the chorus has 

received a Golden Medal. Igor Tsilin is awarded with the 

letters of thanks, diplomas by city and regional administration, 

by city and regional Department of Culture. 

In 1999 Tsilin was awarded the medal "For achievements 

in Culture" established by the Ministry of Culture 

of Russia. In 2004 the rank "The honored artist of Russia" 

is appropriated by president Putin. Igor Tsilin also 

teaches choral singing at the Lipetsk State University.

Alexander Vatsek è nato nel 1955, ha studiato direzione 

corale e direzione d’orchestra diplomandosi nel 1982 

al Conservatorio di Odessa. Nel 1986 ha fondato il coro 

cittadino "Oreya" che sotto la sua direzione ha ottenuto 

grandi successi iniziando dal primo premio del 1989 

al concorso nazionale “Leontovich” e a seguire nei 

concorsi internazionali di Debrecen (1990), Varna, 

(1991), Tolosa (1992, 1999), Marktoberdorf (1993), 

Zwickau (1995), Tours (1995), in ognuno dei quali il 

suo coro è risultato o vincitore di categoria o di un premio 

speciale o dei cinque gran premi vinti a Meinhausen 

(1993), Limburg (1996), Montreux (1998), e 

Wernigerode (1999), ai quali sono da aggiungere 3 

diplomi d’oro e svariati premi come vincitore di categoria. 

Nel 1991 Alexander Vacek ha diretto a Tallin 

(Estlonia) un coro di 15.000 coristi al festival internazionale 

"Ponti di canto". Nel 1996 ha fondato a Brno 

(Repubblica Ceca) il coro "Gaudeamus", dell’Università 

di Masaryk, dove insegna, e con il quale ha vinto primi 

premi ed un gran premio. Con quest’ultimo coro nel 

luglio 2000 è stato invitato dall’Associazione "A Coeur 

Joie International“ al 25 anniversario del festival "Musique 

en Morvan" a tenere un workshop cui parteciparono 

cori e solisti di tutto il mondo. 

Alexander Vatsek wurde 1955 geboren. Er studierte 

Chorleitung und Dirigieren. 1982 schloss er seine Studien 

erfolgreich am Staatlichen Konservatorium in 

Odessa ab. 1986 gründete er die ukrainische städtische 

Chorkapelle "Oreya". Die 15 Jahre alte Geschichte dieses 

Chores war unter seiner Leitung sehr erfolgreich. 

1989 erhielt er beim "Nationalen Leontovich Wettbewerb" 

den 1. Preis. Es folgte die Teilnahme an weiteren internationalen 

Chorwettbewerben, so zum Beispiel in Debrecen 

(1990), Varna, (1991), Tolosa (1992, 1999), 

Marktoberdorf (1993), Zwickau (1995), Tours (1995). 

Praktisch in jedem dieser Wettbewerbe war "Oreya" 

Gewinner oder Preisträger eines Spezialpreises. Fünf 

Großpreise errang der Chor in Meinhausen 1993, Limburg 

1996, Montreux 1998, und Wernigerode 1999, er 

errang außerdem 3 goldene Diplome, 13 mal war er 

bester Chor in verschiedenen Kategorien. 1991 dirigierte 

Alexander Vacek in Tallin (Estland) einen Chor von 

15.000 Sängern beim internationalen Chorfest "Brücken 

aus Liedern". 1996 gründete er in Brno (Tschechische 

Republik) den Chor "Gaudeamus", der an der Masaryk 

Universität beheimatet ist, an der er nun auch unterrichtet. 

Mit dem Chor Gaudeamus hat er viele erste Plätze erreicht 

und einen Großspreis gewonnen. Im Juli 2000 

wurde er mit diesem Chor von der Assoziation "A Coeur 

Joie International“ zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum des Festivals 

"Musique en Morvan" zur Leitung eines Workshops 

mit internationalen Chören und Solisten eingeladen.

Diplomas, 13 times it was the best choir in different categories. 

In 1991 in Tallinn (Estonia) Alexander Vacek 

conducted a mass choir (15 thousand singers) at the 

International Fest " Bridges of song ". In 1996 in Brno, 

( Czech Republic) he founded the GAUDEAMUS choir of 

the Masaryk University where he now teaches, and 

with which he won numerous first prizes and one grand 

prize. In July 2000 Alexander Vacek with GAUDEAMUS 

were invited by the Association "A Coeur Joie International“ 

to the 25th Festival "Musique en Morvan" 

(France) to hold a workshop with international choirs 

and soloists.
