oltre lo sci Concorso dei Volti lignei a FORNESIGHE DI ZOLDO Sabato 2 e domenica 3 febbraio, si svolgerà a Fornesighe di Zoldo la XVII edizione del concorso dei volti lignei, una delle più note manifestazioni nell’ambito dei carnevali di montagna. La manifestazione, che si svolge nell’arco di due giorni, inizierà sabato 2 con la dimostrazione di intaglio delle maschere effettuata da artigiani locali; nello stesso giorno si riunirà la giuria che decreterà il vincitore della rassegna. Il clou dell’evento si avrà domenica 3 febbraio, giornata nella quale, prima della premiazione dei vincitori del concorso dei volti lignei, si svolgerà tra le caratteristiche vie del paese la sfi lata del corteo mascherato che prende il nome dalla maschera più importante dello stesso, la “Gnaga”. La “Gnaga” è una maschera doppia raffi gurante una donna con enormi zoccoli di legno che porta il marito nella gerla: una rappresentazione satirica della condizione © Agenzia Obiettivo della donna nella società tradizionale. Domenica 3, tra i vicoli del pittoresco paese, verranno anche allestite numerose bancarelle, dove si potranno acquistare i tipici prodotti dell’artigianato locale e degustare le tradizionali specialità gastronomiche. Massimo Mosena Wooden mask competition in FORNESIGHE DI ZOLDO In Fornesighe di Zoldo, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd February see the 27th edition of the wooden masks competition, one of the best-known events on the local mountain Carnival calendar. The competition, which takes place over two days, begins on Saturday 2nd, when local craftsmen will provide a demonstration of how the masks are carved; later that day the Jury will meet to decide on the winner of the contest. The high point of the event, however, is on Sunday 3rd, when, before the award ceremony, visitors can watch the masked parade through the typical little local streets. The parade is known as La Gnaga, and it takes its name from the most important of the masked fi gures which take part. La Gnaga fi gure represents a woman with huge wooden clogs carrying her husband in her pannier, and is a parody of the condition of womenfolk in traditional society. On the Sunday a wide range of stalls will also be set up around the charming little village, where visitors will have the opportunity to purchase typical local craft objects and sample traditional food specialities. Plonia a DOSOLEDO DI COMELICO SUPERIORE Un tipico esempio di come le antiche tradizioni si siano mantenute nel tempo è senz’altro costituito dalla Mascherata di S.Plonia, in programma quest’anno per il giorno 3 febbraio 2008. Ogni anno splendidi colori, profumi d’altri tempi, suoni e musiche straordinarie, ritornano per rallegrare il paese di Dosoledo (Comelico Superiore). Le due fi gure principali, il Lachè e il Matažin, vestiti di splendidi nastri, sontuosi fazzoletti e preziose calotte decorate da luccicanti spille e velluto sul capo, aprono il corteo accompagnati dai fedeli pagliacci e dai suonatori. Sono previste due sfi late, con arrivo alle 10.15 e alle 14.00 in piazza, dove grandi e piccini potranno gustare dei gustosi dolci fatti in casa. Sarà inoltre possibile visitare una mostra sul carnevale, aperta dal 18/01 al 05/02 nella Casa della Regola. La festa continuerà con la serata danzante presso l’Albergo Bellavista. Tomas De Martin Deppo Vanda Baldissarutti © Archivio Gruppo Ricerche Culturali Comelico Santa Plonia Masked Parade in DOSOLEDO DI COMELICO SUPERIORE A typical example of how ancient traditions have managed to survive through the centuries is the Santa Plonia Masked Parade, scheduled this year for the 3rd of February 2008. Year after year, colourful costumes, aromas of yesteryear and extraordinary music and sounds return to fi ll the village streets of Dosoledo (Comelico Superiore). The two principal Carnival fi gures, Lachè and Matažin, wearing costumes adorned with splendid ribbons and elegant kerchiefs and stunning velvet headpieces with sparkling decorations, open the parade, accompanied by their faithful clown fi gures and by the musicians. Two parades are planned, one arriving in the village square at 10.15 and the other at 14.00. In the square, there will be plenty of tasty home-made sweets for all to sample, and from 18/01 to 05/02 in the Casa della Regola building you can visit an exhibition about the Carnival. © Archivio Dolomiti Turismo – foto Luca Gusso PLODAR VOSENOCHT/THE SAPPADA CARNIVAL PLODAR VOSENOCHT/ CARNEVALE SAPPADINO more than just skiing Il Carnevale (Plodar Vosenocht) rappresenta la più nota usanza di Sappada, e si svolge in un lungo arco di tempo scandito da alcuni appuntamenti chiave nei quali spiccano le tre domeniche dedicate a tre diversi strati sociali. Nella Domenica dei Poveri o “Pettlar Suntag”, 20 gennaio 2008, le maschere improvvisano scherzi e scenette che simulano le tristi situazioni e le misere astuzie, che i poveri devono da sempre inventare per campare. Poi è la volta di “Paurn Suntag”, 27 gennaio 2008, un’allegra rappresentazione del mondo contadino, che consente, in pieno inverno, di vedere circolare nelle vie innevate carri e attrezzi agricoli, animali e cumuli di fi eno. Infi ne è la volta dei Signori, i ricchi, o “Hearn Suntag”, 3 febbraio 2008, con l’esibizione delle maschere più raffi nate, antichi costumi di pregio, pazientemente cuciti o rimessi a nuovo. Ma il protagonista assoluto del Carnevale sappadino è il Rollate, la maschera tipica per eccellenza: il nome deriva dalle pesanti sfere di bronzo, le “Rollen”, ed il suo aspetto di uomo-orso incute timore a grandi e bambini. Martina Boccingher Carnival (Plodar Vosenocht in the local German dialect) is the most characteristic of popular traditional celebrations in Sappada. It takes place over an extended period of time, with a number of key dates, the most important of which are the three Sundays, dedicated to three different social classes. On Poor Sunday (Pettlar Suntag), the 20th of January 2008, the masked fi gures improvise little sketches which mimic the sad situations and the crafty tricks the poor have always had to come up with in order to survive. The following weekend there is Paurn Suntag, on the 27th of January 2008, a cheerful, lively representation of the traditional activities of the local countryfolk. The last Sunday, Hearn Suntag, on the 3rd of February 2008, is Masters’ Sunday, dedicated to the upper classes, and it is on this day that you can admire the fi nest traditional costumes, patiently sewn or repaired. The real star of the Sappada Carnival, however, is the Rollate, whose name derives from the heavy bronze spheres around his waist; half-man and half-bear, the Rollate traditionally scares both young and old. Domenica 27 gennaio dalle 14.00 tanta allegria e divertimento per il Carnevale dei Bambini, con la sfi lata dei carri e delle mascherine e spettacoli di burattini e giocoleria. Tante inoltre le iniziative collaterali: spettacoli teatrali, animazione per bambini, serate gastronomiche ed una grande Lotteria di Carnevale, per rivivere insieme tutta la magia del Carnevale Sedicense. Stefania Fabiano Di Gregorio The SEDICO Carnival After the more traditional Carnivals in Sappada, Fornesighe and Dosoledo, it’s the turn of the most colourful, lively, jovial celebrations in Belluno: the Sedico Carnival. On Sunday 20th January and Sunday 3rd February, at 14.00, the parade sets out through the village streets, with allegorical fl oats and groups of characters in costume, not only from the local area but also from throughout the Triveneto. On Sunday 27th January it’s the kids’ turn, with the fun Children’s Carnival parade, during which the little ones will show off their colourful costumes and fl oats and enjoy juggling displays and puppet shows. A range of collateral events are also planned, including theatre performances, entertainment for children, gastronomic evenings and the famous Carnival Lottery.
