La vacanza d’inverno in provincia di Belluno non è solo neve e
sci. Il ghiaccio da sempre affascina grandi e piccini, creando
mille occasioni di divertimento tra arte, natura e tanto sport fuori
dell’ordinario. Per i più allenati e temerari ecco l’ice climbing:
armati di piccozza, ramponi, casco ed imbragatura, vale la pena di
cimentarsi nelle arrampicate sulle cascate di ghiaccio. Adrenalina
a mille con il taxi bob sulla pista olimpica di Cortina -con curve
affrontate a 100 chilometri orari, insieme a piloti professionisti- e
il go-kart ad Auronzo, entrambi rigorosamente su ghiaccio. Meno
rischiose, ma altrettanto intense, sono le emozioni offerte dagli
stadi del ghiaccio, dove pattinare in compagnia, anche sotto le
stelle, magari a suon di musica, assistere a spettacoli di pattinaggio
artistico o ad appassionanti partite di hockey. Rilassanti,
coinvolgenti, e certamente più soft, sono il curling, sport simile
alle bocce da giocare a squadre, con pietre di granito levigato,
ed il broomball, dove squadre di sei giocatori si affrontano con
una speciale scopa, cercando di segnare nella porta avversaria.
Ed ancora, tante le emozioni che la provincia di Belluno offre a
coloro che alla pratica degli sport su ghiaccio preferiscono un più
tranquillo ruolo di spettatori: Cortina tornerà ad ospitare nel mese
di gennaio la Coppa del Mondo Maschile e Femminile di Bob; appuntamento
a febbraio invece con il Cortina Winter Polo On Snow,
nella splendida cornice del Lago di Misurina.

There’s more to a winter holiday in the province of Belluno than
snow and skiing. Since time immemorial, ice has provided both
young and old with all sorts of opportunities to have fun; there
really is something for everyone, from art and nature lovers to
those who enjoy sports which are a little out of the ordinary. The
fi ttest – and the bravest! – can opt for ice climbing: armed with
ice-axe, crampons and harness, an exciting challenge is offered
by the frozen waterfalls in the area; while a tremendous rush of
adrenalin can be experienced on Cortina’s Olympic bob track
as you sweep round the bends at 100km an hour in a taxi-bob
piloted by professionals, or in Auronzo, where you can test your
go-karting skills on ice.
The less adventurous are sure to enjoy a trip to the ice stadiums,
where you can go skating with friends – even at night, beneath
the stars, perhaps to the sound of music; or you might prefer to
watch ice-dancing shows or exciting ice-hockey matches. Other
interesting, more relaxing options are offered by curling and
broomball. If you prefer to watch sport on ice rather than actually
take part, the province of Belluno has plenty to keep you happy
this winter. In January, Cortina will once again host the Men’s and
Women’s Bobsleigh World Cup, while in February you can enjoy the
Cortina Winter Polo On Snow event, with the splendid backdrop of
Misurina Lake.
