TRANSCAVALLO 2008
Si correrà domenica 20 gennaio 2008 la XXV edizione della
Transcavallo, tradizionale gara di sci alpinismo a coppie, valida come
prima prova della Coppa Dolomiti Orientali. Saranno i monti dell’Alpago
sul Gruppo del Cavallo (m. 2250) a far da scenario alla competizione,
che anche quest’anno vedrà la partecipazione dei migliori atleti
di questa specialità (tra i quali Mezzanotte, Pedrini, Giacomelli, Spini,
Eydallin) e di oltre un centinaio di coppie (anche miste). Si svolgerà
inoltre contestualmente il terzo Memorial Ernesto Mazzoran, riservato
alle categorie giovanili. Il percorso della XXV Transcavallo diverrà
il tracciato uffi ciale della importante manifestazione prevista per il
prossimo anno nel mese di febbraio, il Campionato Europeo 2009.
Grande quindi l’impegno profuso da enti, associazioni ed una folta
schiera di volontari per organizzare quest’evento fortemente voluto
dallo Sci Club Tambre, a sostegno di questa disciplina sportiva qui
iniziata sin dal lontano 1984.

TRANSCAVALLO 2008
Sunday 20th January 2008 sees the 25th edition of the
Transcavallo, the traditional ski mountaineering competition for
pairs, valid as the fi rst leg of the Dolomiti Orientali Cup. The
competition will be held on the mountains of the Alpago in the
Cavallo Group (2250 m), and once again this year the event
will attract ski mountaineers of the calibre of, amongst others,
Mezzanotte, Pedrini, Giacomelli, Spini and Eydallin, with around
100 pairs (some of them mixed) taking part. At the same time, the
third Ernesto Mazzoran Memorial event will be held, reserved
for youth categories. The Transcavallo route will become the offi cial
one for the 2009 European Championships set to take place here
next February. It requires considerable effort on the part of various
bodies, associations and a host of volunteers to organize this event,
which the Tambre Ski Club has promoted to support this sports
discipline, which started in Alpago in 1984.

Appuntamento il 7 marzo 2008 con la 14 a edizione della Sellaronda
Skimarathon, una gara internazionale notturna di sci alpinismo,
che si sviluppa nelle tre province di Belluno, Trento e Bolzano attraversando
i quattro passi del giro sciistico del Sellaronda: Pordoi,
Sella, Gardena e Campolongo. La gara, che si svolge a coppie,
presenta un tracciato lungo 42 km con 2700 m. di dislivello; data
la lunghezza e le mutevoli condizioni ambientali che la caratterizzano,
richiede ai partecipanti una grande preparazione atletica.
Ad ogni edizione una delle quattro valli ladine coinvolte nell’evento
ospita partenza ed arrivo della manifestazione; quest’anno la
gara avrà inizio alle ore 18.00 da Corvara e poco dopo vi sarà
l’entusiasmante passaggio ad Arabba. Un appuntamento da non
perdere, che come ogni anno saprà regalare ad atleti e spettatori
grandi emozioni.

Sellaronda
Skimarathon, an
international ski
mountaineering
competition
for pairs held
at night, which
takes place in
the provinces of
Belluno, Trent and
Bolzano and goes
through the four
mountain passes
of the Sellaronda
ski tour: Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and Campolongo. Because of
the length of the route – 42 km – and the unpredictable weather
conditions, the competition requires considerable training and
ski mountaineering experience. The four Ladin valleys involved
in the event take it in turns each year to host the departure and
arrival points of the event, and this year participants will start
out at 18.00 from Corvara, rapidly followed by the exciting
Arabba stretch. This is a truly unmissable event, thrilling for
both athletes and spectators.
