Customs Regulations :
Wine falls under special food and beverage category and is under the control of the Liquor
Division, Excise Department, Ministry of Finance. According to import regulation, an
importer has to apply for license to sell liquor to be able to trade in liquor at the Excise
Department.
The importer needs to apply for Vendor License Type 1. This license is valid for 1 year.
The annual fee for Vendor License is Baht 8,250+ Baht 500 if the warehouse is separated
from the office ( at the moment, 1 Euro = 49 Baht ). In addition, it is required by the Excise
Department for the importer to pay Baht 100,000 as the guaranteed deposit.
An importer also has to apply for an Import Permit which costs Baht 200 for every
importation.
To derive the Import Permit, the importer has to submit to the Liquor Division, Excise
Department, Ministry of Finance, the followings :
• The Vendor License Type 1 to sell liquor (Vendor License Type 1 : sell all types of liquor
more than 10 litres) ; and
• 2 copies of invoice or Proforma invoice ; and
• To import wine into Thailand, the importer must apply for an import licence and present
the following documents to the EXD:
