RF07.39.3 – Cognitive and behavioural indicators of conversion from mild cognitive impairment…
ter the Mental Deterioration Battery (MDB), a standardized and validated
neuropsychological battery, comprising seven neuropsychological tests from
which eight performance scores can be derived (short and long term verbal
memory, short term visual memory, logical reasoning, language, simple and
complex constructional praxis and frontal performance). To assess neuropsychiatric
diagnoses and symptoms and functional outcome we will administered
the SCID-P-DSM-IV, the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), the Beck
Depression Inventory (BDI), the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS),
the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20),
the Fatigue Rating Scale (FRS), the Apathy Rating Scale (ARS), the Medical
Outcomes Survey Short Form-36 (SF-36) for the quality of life, the basic activities
of daily living scale (BADL) and the instrumental activities of daily living
scale (IADL).
All patients will be re-assessed every 6 months and for 18 months after
the initial evaluation: during the follow-up visits the subjects will undergo the
full cognitive and behavioural battery of the first visit. A multiple logistic
regression analysis will be used to determine which neuropsychological and
behavioural tests might determine independently the conversion from MCI to
AD. The differences on the quality of life and the functional outcome between
non-converted MCI and AD will be detect by the student t test.
