These paragraphs contain all the information essential to connect the programmer to the PC, install
the software and begin to use the programmer quickly. Please read completely these paragraphs
before attempting any use of Your programmer. For more detailed information about the
technical features of each the and the software options, please refer to the specific chapters further
in this manual.
INSTALLING PROGRAMMER HARDWARE
Please refer to figure 11:
- Switch off PC and programmer.
- Insert the communication cable included with Your programmer package to a free printer port
on Your PC. If Your computer is equipped with only one printer port, substitute the
programmer cable for the printer cable.
- Connect the opposite cable end to the programmer.
- Screw on both connectors to counter-connectors. This is very important.
- Connect the power supply connector to the programmer and the power supply plug to a mains
socket.
- Turn on PC and programmer.
- You will see the green LED of power supply turning on and then switching off, while the three
status LEDs turn on and off in sequence. On all other programmers the green LED of power
supply simply turns on and remains on.
It may be uncomfortable to switch between printer cable and programmer cable, but it is not possible
to operate the programmer through a mechanical or an electronic. However You can install a second
multi-I/O in your computer, thus obtaining a supplementary printer port, say LPT2. So your printer
may remain on LPT1 while the programmer on LPT2.
! CAUTION !
If You don’t want to switch off your PC when connecting the programmer, proceed as follows:
- When connecting the programmer to the PC: FIRST insert the communications cable and
THEN the power-supply connector.
- When disconnecting the programmer from the PC: FIRST disconnect the power-supply
connector and THEN the communication cable.
