Cleaning ≠
Protective gloves must be worn at all times
W during cleaning work.
Remove all dirt and grass directly after mowing.
Close the petrol tap, turn the mower over onto its
right side (in the direction of travel) and use a brush
or cloth to clean. Do not rotate the cutter
bar since otherwise motor oil is pumped into
the carburettor/air filter.
Never clean the mower with water since this may
damage the ignition system and carburettor.
Take off the belt cover and remove any earth and
grass found behind it (do not use water) at least
once per mowing season or more frequently if the
application ist particularly demanding. Check that
the swing arm can move freely. If grass residue is not
removed at regular intervals, the regulated drive will
become clogged.
Storage
Always store the lawn-mower in a clean condition in
a closed, dry room.
Collapsing the handle
– To save room while storing, loosen the four knurled
nuts to a point where the guide spar can be folded
up without resistance into a Z-shape above
the engine.
– Be careful not to bend or crush the Bowden pull wires.
– If the appliance is to be carried, do not touch the
ejection flap! Grasp it at the front on the left and
at the carrying bar at the rear.
10. Servicing your mower
Protective gloves must be worn at all times
W during maintenance work.
Checking operating safety
Retighten all screws and nuts after the first few operating
hours and from time to time thereafter.
Check the condition and correct attachment of
the cutter prior to each mowing in order to avoid
accidents.
IIf the cutter is blocked, e.g. by driving over an obstacle,
have a check by your JOHN DEERE dealer whether part
of the mower are damaged or defomed. All required
repairs should only be done by the JOHN DEERE dealer.
Replacing and sharpening the blade = + “ +
Switch off engine and disconnect spark plug
W connector, put on safety gloves!
– Close the petrol tap (4) =.
– Turn the mower over onto its right side.
– Insert a screwdriver* into the previously cleaned
blade fastening screw (1) and unscrew whilst
holding the blade.
Remove the blade fastening screw (1),
curved washer (2), washer (3), sliding washer (4),
blade (5) and sliding washer (6) in sequence.
WARNING
The sliding washers may not come into contact with
cleaning agent (e.g. cold cleaner) or oil and must
be replaced from time to time.
GB NL
– A blunt cutter bar should be sharpened using a
grinder as shown in the sketch since it will otherwise
fall out of balance.
It is recommended that re-sharpening of the
blade be performed by at a specialised service
station. We also recommend that after sharpening
your dealer carry out measurements to check for
imbalance. The blade cutting edges may only
be ground until the value (see the picture “) or
the mark on the blade (ring), has been reached.
– Only use original JOHN DEERE blades for replacement
purposes. Order no. SA33214
– Blades must be marked permanently with
name and /or trademark of the manufacturer
or suplier and with the parts number. Blades may
only be fitted according to the appropriate operating
instructions of the respective mower.
– Reassemble in reverse order, if necessary fit the
curved washer and blower wheel with flange
onto the shaft first. Ensure that the revolving edge
of the sliding washer faces away from the blade
bar. The raised ends of the blade should face the
housing.
– Tighten the blade fixing screw with a torque wrench
to 40-45 Nm. Do not use an impact screwdriver.
ATTENTION
Do not leave any tools in the mower!
W Before starting the mower check that
all tools have been removed!
* not supplied
Servicing the wheels
Front wheels
Oil the bearings of the wheels once a year or every
20 operating hours.
– Remove wheel covers.
- Loosen the hexagon head nuts using a socket
spanner and remove the wheels.
- After dribbling oil into the bearings, push on the
wheels and retighten so that they are still able to
rotate easily.
Servicing the rear wheel drive
– Remove the transporter wheels from the wheel
axle after removal of the wheel cover and
loosening of the fixing nut.
– Remove dirt and any grease from the wheel cover,
from the free wheel pinion on the gear shaft
and the drive pinion on the inside of the wheel.
NOTE
Do not remove the free wheel pinion from gear
shaft.
– Grease the pinion pair (free wheel pinion and drive
pinion in the wheel) with a plastics-compatible
multipurpose grease, e.g. FINA MARSON so that the
toothed intermediate spaces are completely filled.
– When pushing on the transporter wheel make sure
that the pinions engage; it may be necessary to
turn the wheel on the axle slightly.
Oiling the Bowden cable for gear actuation ¢
– It is absolutely essential that the Bowden cable is
easy running for switching on and off, so that the
control drive works perfectly.
