Causes of faults and their remedy Fault Engine does not start Engine performance decreases Engine runs irregulary Mower will not move forward Drive speed cannot be regulated Strong vibrations Possible cause – Switch handle not pressed down. – No petrol. – Spark plug connector loose. – Spark plug defective or dirty or electrode burnt out. – Engine getting too much petrol (spark plug wet). – Air filter dirty. – Ignition defective. – Battery is not charged. – Connection cable between ignition key, battery and engine loose or without contact. – Loose cable lug at ignition lock. – Air filter dirty. – Spark plug foul. – Petrol tank dirty. – Carburettor blocked. – Cooling air paths blocked. – Carburettor. – Ignition system. – Governor rods. – Drive V-belt loose or torn. – Bowden cable torn or disconnected. – Excessive grass residue under the belt cover – Engine fixing loose. – Blade loose. – Blade coupling run in eccentrically. – Blade not balanced during sharpening.
