INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS ON THE
PREPARATION OF DATA FOR SUPPLEMENTS
Data submitted for publication in the supplements on "Cancer Chemotherapy Screen
ing Data" should be sent to Dr. Joseph Leiter, National Cancer Institute, Bethesda 14,
Maryland.
Deadlines.—The deadlines for the receipt of papers are February 1, June 1, and October
1 of each year; the supplements will appear about four months later.
All papers must be typed, single-spaced throughout, with ample margins, on bond pa
per. The original and two carbon copies must be submitted. Manuscript pages, including
all tables, should be numbered consecutively with a draftsman's nonphotographic blue
pencil. Prompt publication of papers will be facilitated if the original copy of the manu
script can be used, as submitted, for photo-offset reproduction. Specific instructions on the
preparation of such copy may be obtained by writing to Dr. Leiter at the above address.
Authors planning to submit extensive tabular material are urged to obtain these instruc
tions before preparing the final typed version of the data.
Each paper should include a brief but specific section on Materials and Methods, in
cluding such information as how the compounds were administered, what solvents were
used, what dose schedules were followed, the source of the compounds, diet of the animals,
etc. In particular, the authors should indicate the basis upon which they judge the sig
nificance of their finding. Any abbreviations used should be clearly defined in footnotes.
The tables should follow the general style of the present supplement, and every column
should be supplied with an appropriate heading.
Since the major objective of these supplements is to provide a medium for adequate
presentation of tabular data, summaries, when included, should be brief and restricted to
a résumé of the significant results presented.
When used, references to the literature should be listed according to the style used in
Cancer Research.
One hundred reprints of each article, if desired, will be furnished without charge to
authors.
