A NOTE FROM FR. WAYNE
Last week, I received a letter from one of our parishioners
and would like to share it with you. I
was asked to withhold the name of the person.
Why I give to the Grand Annual Collection . . .
I know that we have buildings that need ongoing
maintenance and upkeep, but I give to the
Grand Annual Collection because Sacred Heart
is so much more than bricks and mortar. It’s
where I encounter Jesus Christ; not simply at Sunday
Mass, but in the hundreds of ways and in the
hundreds of people who constitute the daily life
of this parish. Sacred Heart is St. Vincent de
Paul and the giving tree at Christmas; the Rosary
group on Tuesday evenings, Bible study and
RCIA, and Youth Group on Friday nights. We’re
those who came out on cold nights in March to
deepen their relationship with Christ, and the Parish
Council who worked tirelessly to organize that
Mission. We’re a congregation that in the candlelight
of Christmas Mass, sings ―Silent Night‖ so
softly, so gently, so beautifully that it is though we
are in the barn with Joseph and Mary, singing the
baby Jesus to sleep. We bring the Eucharist to the
home bound and the hospitalized. We stand in
line to receive God’s mercy through the sacrament
of Confession. Our babies and adults are
baptized and our dying anointed. We receive Jesus
Christ with respect, reverence and devotion.
We live the profound sadness of Good Friday
and joy of Easter morning. We don’t simply
support our seminarians, we embrace them, and
they in turn become integral parts of our community.
Sacred Heart is young and old interacting
together. We’re the warm smiles of our staff, and
the small gatherings that take place after Mass as
friends greet each other. We’re East Boston Central
Catholic School, where our children receive a
true Catholic education, and we’re The Holy
Family Religious Education Center, where our
children are taught by faith filled and devoted parishioners.
We’re volunteers who decorate at the
holidays, tend to the spiritual needs of the parish
family, maintain the altar and Church grounds,
oversee the finances. We’re the 8:00 daily Mass
where attendees pray and receive Jesus’ Body in
the Eucharist. We’re the group that meets each
Saturday morning for Eucharistic Adoration and
pray to the Virgin Mary for an increase in vocations.

We’re the quiet peace of our Adoration Chapel,
where parishioners come to share their joys, fears and
worries with the Lord. We’re Father Wayne, Fr.
Chris, Deacon A.J., and the hundreds that make up
the parish family. We are so very much more than
bricks and mortar, and that’s why I give to the Grand
Annual.
Many thanks for those words and to all those who
have contributed to the Grand Annual. To date we
have collected $12, 521.00. We still need $22,479.00
to meet our goal. If you have not yet given please
consider doing so today. We need your help and
support so desperately.
FROM THE DEACON’S DESK
Here was my challenge; I was asked, ―What was the process
for the new translation of the Third Edition of the Roman
Missal?‖
The Process of Translation
First off the work of translation was not an isolated work of
an individual, rather is was an intensive process involving
hundreds of individuals and consultations. The original
Latin text was sent to The International Commission on
English in the Liturgy (ICEL). This commission is comprised
of bishops from the 11 English speaking Episcopal
conferences. While the commission itself is comprised of
the bishops, they have a staff of liturgical experts from
around the world. The staff together with the bishops composed
the first draft which was sent to English speaking
bishops from around the world, for their review and commentary.
The ICEL took all the ―feedback― and produced
a second draft. They then resent the text for review and
approval. Once all of the English speaking conferences
agreed on the texts, they were sent to The Congregation for
Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in
Rome for final approval (known as the recognitio).
As you can see, this was an extensive and time consuming
process. Liturgical experts, theological and pastoral experts
both ordained and lay were consulted along the way, from
local bishops and their staffs to national conferences up to
The International Commission on English in the Liturgy
and The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline
of the Sacraments. The NEW Roman Missal truly is
the work of the entire Church!
Mark your calendar
On Friday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. We will pray the
twenty decades of The Holy Rosary as we close the month
of October. We prayed this Rosary last May and I have
had several requests to offer this prayer again. Immediately
after The Rosary, we will have coffee and a sweet!

Bisogna allontanarsi dagli uomini per trovare Dio? E
chi ha trovato Dio può ancora ritornare verso gli uomini
e vivere con loro, interessarsi di loro e lavorare
con loro e per loro? In altre parole, l’amore di Dio e
l’amore degli uomini sono compatibili o, al contrario,
l’uno esclude l’altro in modo che bisogna assolutamente
operare una scelta?

al suo grido, la mia ira si accenderà e vi farò morire di

Dalla prima lettera di san Paolo apostolo ai
Tessalonicési
Fratelli, ben sapete come ci siamo comportati in
mezzo a voi per il vostro bene.
E voi avete seguito il nostro esempio e quello del
Signore, avendo accolto la Parola in mezzo a grandi
prove, con la gioia dello Spirito Santo, così da diventare
modello per tutti i credenti della Macedònia e
dell’Acàia. Infatti per mezzo vostro la parola del
Signore risuona non soltanto in Macedònia e in
Acàia, ma la vostra fede in Dio si è diffusa dappertutto,
tanto che non abbiamo bisogno di parlarne.
Sono essi infatti a raccontare come noi siamo venuti
in mezzo a voi e come vi siete convertiti dagli idoli a
Dio, per servire il Dio vivo e vero e attendere dai
cieli il suo Figlio, che egli ha risuscitato dai morti,
Gesù, il quale ci libera dall’ira che viene.

poi è simile a quello: ―Amerai il tuo prossimo
come te stesso‖. Da questi due comandamenti
dipendono tutta la Legge e i Profeti».

CREDO
Credo in un solo Dio, Padre onnipotente, creatore
del cielo e della terra, di tutte le cose visibili e
invisibili.
Credo in un solo Signore, Gesù Cristo, unigenito
Figlio di Dio, nato dal Padre prima di tutti i secoli.
Dio da Dio, Luce da Luce, Dio vero da Dio vero;
generato, non creato; della stessa sostanza del Padre;
per mezzo di lui tutte le cose sono state create. Per
noi uomini e per la nostra salvezza discese dal cielo;
e per opera dello Spirito Santo si é incarnato nel
seno della Vergine Maria e si é fatto uomo. Fu
crocifisso per noi sotto Ponzio Pilato, morì e fu
sepolto. Il terzo giorno é risuscitato, secondo le
Scritture; é salito al cielo, siede alla destra del Padre.
E di nuovo verrà, nella gloria, per giudicare i vivi e i
morti, e il suo regno non avrà fine.
Credo nello Spirito Santo, che é Signore e dà la vita,
e procede dal Padre e dal Figlio e con il Padre e il
Figlio é adorato e glorificato e ha parlato per mezzo
dei profeti. Credo la Chiesa, una, santa, cattolica e
apostolica. Professo un solo battesimo per il
perdono dei peccati. Aspetto la risurrezione dei
morti e la vita del mondo che verrà. Amen.

Gran Colletta Annuale
Per favore, siete generosi ai bisogni della nostra
parrocchia. Non posso sottolinerare l’importanza di
questa colletta per questa nostra famiglia. Vi
ringrazio per la vostra passata generosità. Ogni
settimana, date in un modo generoso ai bisogni della
nostra parrocchia. Quanto ho detto sopra sono al di
là dei bisogni settimanali. Vorrei dire grazie per la
vostra attenzione e genorosità per la nostra Gran
Colletta Annuale.
Domenica e’ la celebrazione del giorno
che ha fatto dal Signore. Come una famiglia,
celebriamo questo sacramento con rispetto ed amore.
