I costumi
particolarmente elaborati e variopinti: ricchi e a
influenze romane, orientali, ispano-moreschi
si avvicendarono nel controllo della regione;
questo è il motivo principale dell’eterogeneità
dei costumi sardi, soprattutto di quelli femminili,
attraverso i quali è possibile ripercorrere il
lungo cammino compiuto dagli isolani dalle
origini fino ad oggi.
Sardinia is a land rich in history and tradition.
As well as its natural beauty, which renders it
famous throughout the world, it boasts many
folkloristic features whose roots lie in distant
centuries. One of the most characteristic elements
of the island’s traditions is the variety of
local costumes, which vary from town to town.
Sardinian costumes are particularly elaborate
and multicoloured: those of the women are
lively and richly coloured, while those of the
men are more sombre. As well as bearing witness
to local culture, these garments are also
representative of the island’s history, deriving
influence from Roman, Oriental and Hispanic-
Moorish sources, and in doing so reminding us
of the different civilisations which have exercised
control over the region; this is the principal
reason for the heterogeneity of Sardinian
costumes, especially the female ones, through
which it is possible to trace the long march the
islanders have undertaken from their origins
through to the present day.
Gli ornamenti
Sardinian ornaments are designed to form an
integral part of clothing, whose features they
help to bring out in the best possible light:
gold and silver buttons, rings, bracelets, necklaces,
pendant chains, amulets and watches,
brooches, buckles; the ornaments are often
realised in filigree and in the past gave a huge
impulse to the still renowned local craftsmanship:
the goldsmith’s tradition is still very much
alive in different parts of the island where
jewels are still patiently beaten by hammer
and engraved by hand. Also very worthy of
mention is the work realised in coral, the red
gold of Sardinia, reputed by the experts to be
amongst the finest in the world.
12
contribuiscono a dargli maggior risalto: bottoni
d’oro e d’argento, anelli, braccialetti, collane,
catene ciondoli, amuleti ed orologi, spille,
fibbie; gli ornamenti sono spesso realizzati in
filigrana e diedero già in passato un notevole
impulso all’artigianato locale che ancora
oggi è piuttosto rinomato: la tradizione orafa
è vivissima in parecchi centri dell’isola dove i
gioielli sono ancora incisi a bulino e pazientemente
battuti a martello. Un posto di rilievo
meritano i lavori realizzati in corallo, l’oro rosso
stoffe, tovaglie, arazzi e tappeti, è realizzata seguendo procedure e canoni collaudati e tramandati
Weaving and embroidery
Weaving, embroidery and the manufacturing
of traditional Sardinian clothing represent
only some of the best-known and authentic
expressions of the island’s popular
soul. Practiced almost exclusively by women,
these crafts constituted one of the most
important economic features of the region’s
rural life, as well as one of its richest forms of
expression. To be able to understand these
arts and appreciate their special language
it is necessary to become acquainted with
their principal characteristics and to know
how to pick out the individual elements
which constitute them. The traditional production
of blankets, fabrics, tablecloths, tapestries
and carpets follows procedures and
rules tried-and-tested then handed down
from generation to generation. Decoration
follows geometric and floral motifs, and also
features figures from the animal kingdom
and archaic symbols. The technique usually
adopted at Samugheo and in the province
of Cagliari is that known as a grani or pibiones,
which involves using a horizontal loom
to produce carpets, blankets, curtains and
cushions. The arts of weaving and embroidery
are also widespread thanks to the continued
existence of over a hundred varieties
and models of traditional costumes. The
male costume, simple and austere, in most
cases is made in only two colours: black and
16
white; the female costume, instead, is much
livelier and lighter, always made with good
taste and a sense of harmony. The clothing
industry developed in the southern part of
the island, with one of its most interesting
centres at Teulada. The shawl, a typical textile
production of Oliena, is an extraordinary
example of how manufacturing and the art
of weaving are brought together unforgettably
to create the traditional costumes
worn by women on feast days. It has a triangular
form and is made from a fine woolen
fabric; on two sides it is adorned with long
fringes, which at times are plaited together.
Made from wool, silk or linen in dark colours,
these shawls display floral patterns, and are
interwoven with gold and silver threads, and
enhanced by the insertion of hard stones.
In the Campidano and Sarcidano regions a
tradition lives on of fine needle embroidery
called a specchietti while at Mandrolisai
(Samugheo) the old square, cross and herringbone
stitches are used on silk or linen
in rust-brown, indigo or yellow to produce
tablecloths and tapestries with matching
designs.

Cagliari. Manifestazioni popolari
La Sagra di
Sant’Efisio
Seguono
i gruppi folk provenienti dalle otto province sarde, i cavalieri e i miliziani.
Confraternita in abito penitenziale.
20
osse, rosa e gialle avvolgono i lastroni di
granito della Via Roma con la caratteristica
“ramadura”.
Cagliari. Popoular festivals
La Sagra di
Sant’Efisio
The Sagra di Sant’Efisio festival represents one of the most important religious and
folkloristic events of Sardinia. Each year, since three and half centuries ago, events are held
to honour a vow made by the administration of Cagliari in 1656 in thanksgiving to this saint
for having saved the city from a violent outbreak of plague. The celebrations, organised by
the Sant’Efisio confraternity, supported by the Comune of Cagliari, begin with a procession
accompanying the simulacrum of the saint from its home church at Stampace to the saint’s
place of martyrdom, at Nora. The cortege is led by characteristic traccas, ox-drawn carriages
decorated with rugs, flowers and utensils. These are followed by folk groups drawn from
all eight Sardinian provinces, as well as horsemen and militiamen. Next follows the ‘third
guardian’, the Alternos, originally representing the Viceroy, but now present on behalf of
the mayor, and the Guardiania. The golden carriage carrying the statue of Sant’Efisio is
22
preceded by members of the confraternity
in penitential garb. A multitude of colours
form the background to a morning of intense
participation animated by a profound faith.
The unique sounds of launeddas, a traditional
Sardinian musical instrument, accompany
the slow and rhythmic procession, while
petals of red, pink and yellow roses are
strewn over the granite slabs of the Via
Roma. After the procession through the
town itself, the cortege leaves the city in
the early afternoon and, after pausing at the
chapel dedicated to Sant’Efisio in the village
of Giorgino, the pilgrims discard their festive
clothes for the more humble clothes of the
countryside. Several other stops are made
before reaching the place of this saint’s
martyrdom: pauses are made at Capoterra,
24
Sarroch, Villa San Pietro and Pula, before
arriving at Nora where a festive crowd of
devotees welcome the procession singing
traditional goccius. Once it has arrived at
Nora the simulacrum of the saint is kept on
display to receive the devotion of the faithful
in a beach-side chapel where numerous
masses are celebrated. On the 3rd of May
the saint is brought in a long procession
along the seashore to revisit the place of his
martyrdom. Finally, on the 4th, the carriage
carrying the simulacrum sets out once again
on the road back to Cagliari. At Giorgino,
the rich festive garments are once again
put on before the procession makes its way
back into the city by lantern-light after dark.
Once the cortege arrives at the chapel of
Stampace a brief religious rite is celebrated
in Latin, and once again goccius are sung in
honour of the saint.
Manifestazioni popolari
S’Ardia
nell’omonimo Santuario a pochi passi
e coinvolgente. S’Ardia inizia con la
consegna, di fronte alla casa parrocchiale, di
“Sas pandelas” (i vessilli) e de “Sas iscortas”
(le scorte); queste ultime non sono altro
che dei robusti vessilli rossi che vengono
utilizzate dalle scorte per proteggere “Sas
pandelas” dai tentativi di sorpasso da parte
26
degli altri cavalieri. Le quattro scorte come
le due “Pandeleddas” sono nominate dal
capocorsa chiamato “Sa pandela madzore”
in base a rapporti di amicizia, di parentela
e sopratutto in base all’abilità dei cavalieri.
i momenti salienti dell’Ardia, percorrono
luogo viene chiamato “Su fronte mannu”
dove è eretta una croce in pietra e recentemente
è stata innalzata una statua in onore
del Santo. Dopo un momento di preghiera
sottolineato dai colpi a salve esplosi dai fucilieri,
croce. Anche qui, dopo un momento di preghiera
vengono compiuti tre giri in senso
all’alba dell’indomani. Alcuni danno un’in-
27
terpretazione di questa corsa come un atto
religioso dovuto all’imperatore Costantino
magno per commemorare la sua vittoria sul
ponte Milvio contro Massenzio e l’editto
Sedilo
S’Ardia
The ‘Ardia of San Costantino’ is one of the most important festivals in
Sardinia, taking place at the Santuario di San Costantino, only a stone’s
throw from the town of Sedilo, on the evening of the sixth of July, and
lasting until first light the following dawn. This truly fascinating and
absorbing event involves the horsemen of Sedilo racing between two
lines of crowds, defying the dangers that lie in wait from beginning
to end. The Ardia begins with the delivery, in front of the parochial
house, of sas pandelas (banners) and sas iscortas (escorts); these lat-
30
ter objects are nothing other than robust
red banners that are used by their carriers
to prevent other horsemen from overtaking
them. The four escort-carriers and the
two banner-carriers are nominated by a
head official known as sa pandela madzore;
he chooses them on grounds of friendship,
kinship, and, above all, horsemanship. Once
the delivery ritual is complete, the cortege of
horsemen, accompanied by the mayor and
the parish priest (he too going on horseback),
along with a group of riflemen whose
role is to underscore the most salient moments
of the event, rides along the town’s
main street until their first stopping place.
This pause takes place at the crossroads with
the road leading to the Santuario, which can
be seen in the distance; this point is known
as su fronte mannu: there is a stone cross
there, as well as a recently-installed statue
in honour of Saint Constantine. After a moment
of prayer marked by a barrage of gunfire
from the riflemen, the procession follows
the road down towards Sedilo’s most sacred
spot. Tension is high by the time the cortege
reaches a steep hill near the sanctuary,
known as su frontigheddu. Here the work
begins for the ‘escorts’, who have to keep
the other horsemen at a distance from the
head official and the two banner carriers. Attention
then turns to the mayor and parish
priest, who descend this steep hill until they
reach the church and enter the sanctuary.
At this point, the tension reaches its maximum,
as the horsemen seek to force open
the barrier created by the escorts, in order to
get as close as possible to the three standard
bearers, while the head official seeks the
most favourable moment for making a surprise
start to the frenzied race through the
town. At a moment of general distraction
these three horsemen shoot off, first down
an impassable descent, then around a narrow
bend, at the end of which lies the arch of
San Costantino, which marks the entrance to
the sanctuary. This is a very dangerous point,
as only a few horses at a time can squeeze
31
through. After the arch, awaiting the horsemen
is a steep climb leading to the church.
Behind the church, there is a moment’s respite
when prayers are said, after which the
horsemen begin to race around the church.
At this point, they are supposed to gallop
for seven laps around the church, but to add
that element of surprise which characterises
the Ardia, the pandela madzore can decide
to do fewer and can take off down a steep
decline, going around a very dangerous
ninety degree bend to reach sa muredda, a
stone enclosure with a cross in the centre.
Even here the action does not stop. After
another minute of prayer the horses take
off to do three laps in a clockwise direction
then one in an anti-clockwise direction, before
going back over the entire route until
they have again reached the church. This
marks the end of the course; but it is repeated
again at dawn of the following day.
Some interpret this event as a religious act
dedicated to the Emperor Constantine in
commemoration of his victory at the Milvio
Bridge over Massenzio and the edict of 313
AD which gave liberty to the cult of Christianity.
Another hypothesis gives the event
much older origins, arguing that rather
than beginning at the time of the Emperor
Constantine, it stretches back to nuraghic
times, but that, with the coming of Christianity
to Sardinia this ancient pagan rite was
Christianised. The church building at the
centre of the festival was built in 1789 and
it contains a central aisle with one principal
entrance and two side-entrances; in front of
it is an embankment known as su forte. The
main impression that strikes a visitor to the
church is of the infinite number of votive
offerings the faithful have attached to the
walls in return for favours received from the
saint. Near the church, traces of pavement
have been discovered which probably belong
to an ancient chapel dedicated to the
Madonna, known as Sa Madonna ‘e Nordai:
this chapel takes its name from the zone in
32
which it is located, that is Nordai, which is
not far from where, in medieval times, stood
the village of Busurtei. To the left, along the
ascent to the church, and between the two
arches – that is, su portale ‘e linna (the wooden
gateway), and su portale ‘e ferru (the iron
gateway) – there are porticos called sas lozzas.
Behind the church there is also a series of
small huts, sos muristenes, which shelter the
pilgrims who still come by foot from Bono,
in the province of Sassari, on the night of the
fourth of July. Downhill from the sanctuary
there is a fountain whose water arrives underground
from an ancient well underneath
the church. In front of the church’s porticos
there is place for small stalls which sell local
sweets, handicrafts, Sardinian language poetry
books, and toys, and others which allow
people to savour roast meat and fish, whose
delicious scents, together with the music of
folk dances, float through the sanctuary during
these days of festivity.

Sassari
I Candelieri
On the 14 th of August, on the eve of the
feast of the assumption of the Virgin Mary,
the people of Sassari celebrate their most
highly anticipated festival, the spectacular
candlelit parade best known by its dialect
name of faradda della festa manna. Through
this festival the city fulfils a vow made to the
Virgin in return for salvation from a devastating
outbreak of plague. The parade, which
probably traces its origins to medieval Pisa,
seems to have taken its definitive form in the
34
sixteenth century when Sassari was afflicted
with many pestilences. The event is organised
by nine gremi, guilds of craftsmen which
date back to medieval times, each of which
marches with their own candle. Cheered on
by an enormous crowd, the gigantic multicoloured
candles leave from Piazza Castello,
then dance their way down the Corso to the
rhythm of pipes and drums, until they reach
the interior of the church of Santa Maria di
Betlem, where the vow is renewed. Among
the most appealing aspects of the event are
the displays of skill by the candle-carriers
and the rich Spanish-style costumes worn
in the procession, while much anticipated is
the performance of some well-established
customs, such as the delivery of a toast by
the mayor and the obriere maggiore (the
head of the gremi), and the popular ‘judgement’
of the mayor by the crowd, expressed
through applause or whistling. The candlelit
procession represents the most important
event of the year for Sassari. On the day of
the procession the city revives its passion
and the force of tradition through the fulfilment
of the vow to the Madonna. It was to
Our Lady of the Assumption that the people
of Sassari turned, around the middle of the
eighteenth century, pleading for the cessation
of the plagues that ravished the city.
Their prayers were heard and acted upon.
Since then, every year on the 14 th of August
the candlelit procession is re-lived. Central to
the festival are the nine large candles carried
on the backs of carriers who vault and dance
before the crowd. On the morning of the
festival, the representatives of each of the
gremi, the ancient corporations of artisans,
collect their own candle from their ‘home’
chapel. The candle is brought to the house of
the obriere di candeliere, the highest-ranking
member of the gremio, where it is decorated
with colourful ribbons, flowers and garlands.
The candles are then marched towards the
city, with their carriers offering salutations to
the authorities and receiving the traditional
blessing of zent’anni, or a hundred years,
from the mayor. Every candle is followed by
members of its respective guild, who march
in hierarchical order. The cortege finally arrives
at the church of Santa Maria di Betlem
late in the evening. The candles are left on
the altar to receive a blessing. The subsequent
festivities last all night.
Sassari
The Candelieri
36
proprio candeliere. Acclamati da un’enorme
folla, i giganteschi e variopinti ceri partono
Costituiscono
elementi di grande attrattiva l’abilità dei
portatori ed i ricchi abiti spagnoleschi dei
gremianti, mentre è particolarmente atteso
lo svolgersi di alcune usanze consolidate,
come il brindisi benaugurante del Sindaco
e dell’Obriere maggiore del gremio dei
massai, o il “giudizio” popolare espresso
dagli applausi o dai fischi della folla sullo
stesso Sindaco. I Candelieri rappresentano
antiche corporazioni artigiane, prelevano
il proprio candeliere dalla cappella sede
38
della corporazione. Nella casa dell’obriere di
candeliere, massima carica del gremio, il cero
viene addobbato con nastri colorati, fiori e
ghirlande.
Betlem dove arriverà a tarda sera. I candelieri
deposti sull’altare, ricevono la benedizione.
La festa prosegue per tutta la notte.
Cabras
La corsa degli
scalzi
e ancor oggi molto frequentate.
Cabras
A Barefoot
Running Procession
The village of San Salvatore, an ancient town near Cabras, sees an influx of crowds during the
first week of September for the celebration of the feast of the homonymous saint. The village
contains a small chapel dedicated to San Salvatore which is surrounded by novenary lodgings
used for a long time by local peasants as habitations, and still much-frequented today.
Every year in August and September this small village plays host to a running barefoot procession,
which is undertaken by pilgrims dressed in humble habits held in place by simple
cords, who run barefoot along a dusty and unaccommodating route. The origins of this procession
go back to 1619 and seem to be linked to the numerous Barbary incursions which
terrorized the local population. It was during one of these assaults that the locals rushed the
simulacrum of San Salvatore to safety by running barefoot into the countryside. According
43
to legend, when the Saracens saw the dust
that had been raised by the flight of the locals,
they believed themselves to be faced
with a powerful army, and so they fled. From
that time on, the flight is re-enacted every
year, as a sign of devotion to the saint and
in memory of this miraculous event. The
commemoration marking the saint’s feast
lasts for nine days: solemn masses are mixed
together with more profane moments, all
inspired by a profound sense of tradition.
The celebrations of the feast begin when
the statue of San Salvatore is brought from
the parish of Santa Maria Assunta of Cabras
to the chapel of San Salvatore, which hosts
a hypogeum partially excavated from the
rock with a well dedicated to the cult of water.
The simulacrum of San Salvatore, placed
on a platform, is carried in turn by hundreds
of pilgrims, who run barefoot towards the
little village. The pilgrims who choose to
undertake this course usually do so because
44
they intend to fulfil a vow to the saint. On
the first Sunday of September, the main day
for solemn festivities, several masses are celebrated
in the small chapel of the village of
San Salvatore, then, in the early afternoon
after several firecrackers are exploded, the
run is re-enacted, accompanied by sacred
songs (goccius). A white stream of men runs
through the dust carrying with it the simulacrum
of San Salvatore in order to fulfil, as
must be done every year, the oath taken in
thanksgiving to the saint for liberating them
from the Saracens. Once they reach Cabras,
the runners (called Is Curridoris) stop running
and mix in with other pilgrims in a joint
procession through the streets of the town,
culminating at the church of Santa Maria
Assunta. After the oath is fulfilled, the runners,
tired and worn-out, but united in faith,
celebrate until late at night along with tourists
there to taste the typical produce of the
region.

arcipelago.
The archipelago
of La Maddalena
The La Maddalena archipelago, made up of some sixty islands which lie off the north-western
coast of Sardinia, became the island’s first national park in 1996. The islands of the archipelago,
formed from granite and schistose, boast geo-marine conditions of great natural importance,
due largely to the scarcity of human activity in the region which would otherwise
have compromised their environmental integrity over the centuries. The park extends over
an area of 50 square kilometres, and contains some 180 kilometres of coastline. Among the
most important of its islands, other than La Maddalena – the only permanently inhabited
of the islands, since the foundation of its town in 1770 – is Caprera, which can be reached
via the Passo della Moneta bridge, and to the north, the islands of Budelli, Razzoli and Santa
Maria, and to the south, Spargi. The islands are of different dimensions and were formed
during an early geological period. On the island of Santo Stefano evidence of settlement
has been found dating from the Neolithic period (c.2500-2000 BC). It is possible to visit the
48
islands easily thanks to the large number of short cruises that are on offer for most of the
year. In any case, from the high fortifications which surround the town of La Maddalena, it is
possible to admire the entire archipelago. A long-time base for the Italian navy, La Maddalena
hosts a large population of Italian and American military personnel. Its strategic position
in the Mediterranean attracted the attentions of Napoleon Bonaparte and Admiral Nelson.
Another person strongly linked to the archipelago was Giuseppe Garibaldi: the ‘hero of two
worlds’ lived on the island of Caprera, staying there until his death in 1882. The islands can be
reached from the port of Palau, where ferries take passengers across to La Maddalena. The
crossing lasts around fifteen minutes and it is possible to bring over a car. Likewise, there are
many private companies offering enchanting excursions around the archipelago. It is also
possible to take part in sub-aqua archaeological explorations. The Centro di Educazione Ambientale
(Centre for Environmental Education), which is based at Stagnali on Caprera, offers a
range of services tailored for schools. The CEA is also in charge of an important mineralogical
museum, a centre for dolphin research, and a maritime museum. While, on La Maddalena,
there is the Nino Lamboglia naval museum and the Compendio Garibaldino museum.
Alghero
sale, ampie gallerie, laghetti, pozzi
e angusti cuniculi. Da Alghero la grotta può
essere raggiunta via mare e via terra. Via
direttamente all’ingresso della grotta, posto
alla base di un’altissima falesia. Via terra,
fino all’entrata della grotta. Il primo spettacolo
è la visione del Lago Lamarmora, che
occupa gran parte del grande salone iniziale.
Il lago con una lunghezza di 100 m. è uno dei
più grandi laghi salati d’Europa. Interamente
metri. Nelle sue acque si trovano gamberi,
stelle di mare, ricci, oloturie, qualche grongo
e molluschi. Le pareti del primo tratto di
grotta parzialmente illuminate, appaiono
colorate di un singolare verde-azzurro originato
da incrostazioni vegetali. L’attenzione
alcune piccole vaschette contenenti poca acqua
dolce.
51
fra i primi esploratori della grotta nell’800;
stalagmitica dalle pareti perfettamente
piccole colonne, nicchie e arcate naturali.
Alghero
Neptun’s Caves
Where the calcareous massif of Cappo Caccia
is most beaten by the sea-waves there
lies the marvellous Grotto di Nettuno (the
cave of Neptune), whose natural characteristics
have no equal throughout the entire
Mediterranean. 2,500 metres long, the cave
contains numerous caverns, wide tunnels,
small lakes, wells and narrow passages.
From Alghero, the cave can be reached by
land or by sea. By sea, it can be reached by
taking a special boat; the voyage will last
about an hour and will allow you to admire
the entire Corallo Riviera, passing the cliffs
52
at Capo Galera and Punta Giglio, and upon
reaching Capo Caccia leaving you right at
the entrance to the cave, which lies at the
foot of a very tall cliff. Getting to the cave
overland involves a journey of around 24
kilometers, bringing you to the headland of
Capo Caccia. From the terminal, you descend
to the entrance of the cave on the western
side via the Escala del Cabirol, a picturesque
stairway of 656 steps around 110 metres
high that was constructed in 1954. The first
spectacular vision awaiting is the Lamarmora
lake that covers most of the first cavern.
This lake is 100 metres long, making it one of
the largest salt-lakes in Europe. It is entirely
navigable with a flat-bottomed boat or a
canoe, with a maximum depth of 9 metres
and maximum width of 25 metres. In its waters
there are lobsters, starfish, sea-urchins,
holothurians, and some eels and molluscs.
The walls of the first part of the cave are partially
illuminated, coloured with an unusual
azure-green owing to encrusted vegetation.
The attention is then grabbed by an enormous
two-metre high stalagmite, the Acquasantiera,
that rises from the centre of the
cavern, before it is turned towards the lakeshore
with its small pools of soft water. The
tourist trail begins with a small stairs that
leads from the left of the first cavern, leaving
behind the sunlight for the darkness of the
millennia-old cave. After a brief descent you
arrive at the Rovina cavern with its range of
stalactites, and then, moving along the left
shore of the lake, you come to the Reggia
cavern, where nature has created the most
emotional scenery of the cave. At the centre
of the lake, to the right, there are large
calcareous columns that rise for 9 metres to
the height of the ceiling, as if holding it up;
immediately afterwards there is a break in
the roof and it rises to 18 metres, the highest
point of the tourist part of the cave. At
its end, where the Lamarmora lake finishes,
there is a large wall holding a stalagmite for-
Alghero: view of the touristic harbour
53
mation nicknamed the “Christmas tree”. Here
there is also a small sandy beach whose visibility
depends on the level of the sea. From
the Reggia cavern you follow a long ascent
up a stairway to a level above the lake, arriving
at the Smith cavern, named after an
English captain who was one of the lake’s
first explorers during the 1800s. At the centre
of this cavern is the huge Grand Organo,
an enormous column with an appearance
that brings to mind the pipes of an organ,
that measures 12 by 4 metres with a height
of 11 metres, making it the largest of the entire
cave. Immediately afterward you reach
the Cupola, a stalagmite formation on a perfectly
smooth wall, linked to the ceiling by
an overhanging column like the dome of a
church. In front of the Cupola, on the right,
the pathway leads to the interior parts of
the cave, which are not yet accessible to
tourists. The tour follows the path to the left,
climbing along the wall opposite the Smith
cavern. Here, the ceiling lowers allowing visitors
to admire the various stalactites close
up. This path brings you to the Trine e Merletti
cavern, characterised by small columns,
niches and natural arches. The tour ends at
the so-called Tribuna della Musica, a terrace
that allows you to admire from high the
Reggia zone and the Lamarmora lake.
Le Grotte del
Bue Marino
54
The caves of
Bue Marino
The Bue Marino grotto takes its name from the Sardinian-language name for the monk seal,
that pleasant and rare mammal which, until the 1980s, was a frequent visitor there. Since
the 1950s, thanks to the foresight of the administration of the comune of the time, as well
as to the entrepreneurship of certain tour operators, these underground caves have been
open to the public. These tour operators, using small boats, opened up this marvel of na-
56
ture to the first tourists of this seaside resort.
The caves can be reached by sea from the
port of Cala Gonone in a trip of about thirty
minutes by means of a modern transport
service. Along the way, you can admire the
imposing calcareous cliffs that rise from the
transparent and crystalline waters of the bay
casting a spell on even the most distracted
of visitors. Visitors are further enraptured
when they reach the majestic entrance to
the caves, at which they can disembark with
ease on to a wooden pier. Inside, the main
cavern breaks into two principal branches:
the northern branch has by this time become
fossilised as karstic activity has ceased
there, while the southern branch is still active
due to the continuing presence of an
underground stream. Of particular interest
is the graffiti which dates from the Neolithic
period; this depicts a series of human figures
dancing around bas-relief disks that have
been interpreted as representing the sun.
These days the tours concentrate on the
57
southern branch of the caves. Along the tour
route there are stalagmites and stalactites of
different shades of colour, which, because of
tricks played by the light, create chromatism
of exceptional beauty. The effect is accented
by the crystal clarity of the water of the picturesque
salt lake (which with over one kilometre
of surface area is among the biggest
in the world). Also of particular interest are
the fossils which are found along the route
to the seals’ beach: this ‘beach’ is an enchanting
tissue of sand lying in a gigantic cavern
where, until recent years, the monk seals
brought their pups into the world. In this
final part of the tour, the soft water of the
underground stream mixes with the salty
waters of the sea.

The Santu Antine
Nuraghe
61
The archaeological complex of the Santu
Antine nuraghe is found in the territory of
Torralba, in the province of Sassari, near the
centre of the large ‘Valley of the Nuraghe’; an
area rich in archaeological remains, boasting
various nuraghi, tombe di giganti (giants’
tombs) and monuments from the pre-nuraghic
period. The Santu Antine nuraghe is
one of the largest on the entire island and
is certainly the most intricate, representing
one of the most significant remains of that
era, both for its dimensions and its architectural
features. The complex, which was
constructed at the end of the 18th century
BC, during the Bronze Age, consists of a central
circular tower, now 17.5 metres high,
though originally it could have reached up
to 25 metres, as well as three lateral towers,
connected by a triangular-shaped rampart.
The tower, like the entire complex, is built
from basalt, a rock-type of volcanic origins.
No mortar at all was used in its construction;
the lower part consists of a structure of
large and irregularly-dimensioned rocks, in
the upper part the blocks used are squareshaped
and smaller sized. The principal entrance
is situated on the southern side of
the rampart, and consists of an arched passageway
which opens to the left into a small
chamber which functioned as a guard room;
this then opens into a courtyard which contains
a well which helped guarantee the water
supply of the entire complex. From the
courtyard, you pass through some doors to
reach the corridors which lead to the lateral
62
towers, the ramparts and, most importantly,
to the main tower, whose first and second
floors are entirely preserved, as well as, at
the top of the structure, the floor and part of
the elevation of the third storey; the upper
floors can be reached by means of a spiral
stairs, and once at the top of the structure
one can see clearly the excavated portion
of the village which surrounds the complex,
and behold the huge Valley of the Nuraghi
with the numerous dormant volcanic slopes
which surround it. Outside the ramparts,
between the 13th and 9th centuries BC a
vast nuraghic village developed; only a part
of this is visible, consisting of fourteen cabins
which were excavated during the 1960s
–the central structure was first excavated
during the 1930s. The structure of these cabins
is very similar to the present-day pinnette,
which are small buildings used by shepherds
throughout the Sardinian countryside
– these are built with a circular structure of
dry stone which is then covered with wood,
straw and an earth-based mortar. The site
is easy to reach, at only 1km distance from
the strada statale 131 (“Carlo Felice”): at the
point on this road marked 172km there is an
exit for Thiesi – take this exit and at the end
of the ramp leading from the main road you
turn right. The Valle dei Nuraghi museum and
the archaeological site itself are run by the
La Pintadera cooperative (tel. 079/847145)
which organises guided visits. They are open
to visitors every day from 9.00am until dusk.
Torralba
Il Nuraghe di
Santu Antine
C., in
è inoltre possibile abbracciare in uno sguardo
60’, mentre risalgono agli anni ’30 i primi interventi
sulla struttura centrale. La struttura
66
sito è facilmente raggiungibile e dista meno

vasta regione denominata “Campu Giavesu”
o più comunemente Valle dei Nuraghi; la
ricchezza di risorse naturali ha storicamente
favorito un’alta concentrazione di insediamenti
umani, documentati dalle numerose
cristiana. Nel Neolitico recente, V°-III°
millennio a. C. , venti grotticelle furono scavate
69
250 mq.. La tomba in questione è costituita
da diciotto vani, di cui tre particolarmente
vasti disposti lungo l’asse centrale e quindici
cellette più piccole, distribuite attorno
al nucleo principale. In età paleocristiana,
bizantina e medioevale questi tre ambienti
della tomba furono destinati al nuovo culto,
e le pareti furono intonacate e dipinte; infatti
nella seconda e terza stanza si conservano
bellissimi affreschi di epoca romana e bizantina,
recentemente restaurati a cura della Sovrintendenza
Archeologica di Sassari e Nuoro.
Secondo l’ideologia funeraria del tempo
la posizione sotterranea dei sepolcri garantiva
la rigenerazione dei defunti ma, una volta
persa la memoria sulla funzione originaria di
queste tombe, i sardi le chiamarono “domus
de janas” o case delle fate : nell’immaginario
collettivo si credeva infatti che fossero popolate
da esseri fantastici come streghe, fate
e gnomi.
piatti tipici come “su pane udditu” e “su pane
l’indicazione omonima. Per ulteriori informazioni
Bonorva
The Necropolis of
Sant’Andrea Priu
The underground necropolis of Sant’Andrea Priu, which lies in the territory of Bonorva,
is without doubt one of the archaeological sites of most interest in all of Sardinia. The
Sant’Andrea Priu zone is located on the plain of Santa Lucia, which lies at the most southerly
part of the vast region called Campu Giavesu, or more commonly, the Valley of the Nuraghi;
the wealth of natural resources in the area has historically favoured a high concentration of
human settlements, as is clear from the numerous remains that can still be seen today. Visiting
this site gives one the sensation of entering an ancient sacred place, created through the
intervention of man and nature, where the passing of centuries has fixed inalterably a blend
of pagan magic united with Christian spirituality. In the recent Neolithic period, from the fifth
to the third millennia BC, twenty caverns were excavated along the southern wall of a trachyte
ridge and in the surrounding rocky outcrops; the tombs are almost all pluri-cellular, that
is with more than one internal room, and they have as their principal attraction the so-called
Tomba del Capo, a tomb of 250 square metres which is the most majestic hypogeum of all of
Sardinia. This tomb consists of eighteen rooms: three of these are particularly vast and are
positioned along the central axis of the tomb; the other fifteen are smaller cells which are
70
positioned around this principal nucleus. During the Palaeo-Christian, Byzantine and Medieval
periods, the three main chambers were adapted to new religious practices, and their
walls were plastered and painted; in fact, in the second and third chambers beautiful frescos
from the Roman and Byzantine eras have been preserved, and recently have been restored
by the Sovrintendenza Archeologica of Sassari and Nuoro. According to the funereal beliefs
of long ago the underground position of the sepulchres guaranteed the regeneration of the
deceased: but once they had had forgotten these original functions, the Sardinians began to
call the tombs domus de janas, or fairy-houses; in the collective imagination it was believed
that they were populated with fantastic creatures such as witches, fairies and gnomes. A
short distance from the edge of the rocky wall which contains these domus there rises a
striking carved rock structure named il Tore (the tower) or il Campanile (the bell-tower), as
the elders of the area used to call it. Whoever intends to visit this zone during the month of
August can combine historical and archaeological curiosity with gastronomic indulgence:
during the Zichi festival, organised by the local Comune and Pro Loco organisation, one
can sample a variety of typical local dishes such as su pane udditu and su pane a fittas, both
of which have as their principal ingredient the traditional bread of Bonorva. To get to the
Sant’Andrea Priu necropoli from the strada statale 131, take the turn-off for Bonorva, and
once you have passed the town itself, take the provinciale 43 road towards Bono: after about
6 km there is a signposted turn-off to the right.
Il trenino verde
Saliti a bordo del Trenino Verde vi sembrerà
di rivivere l’atmosfera del Far West. Quando
dentro quelle vecchie caffettiere a carbone si
andava alla ricerca dei panorami più nascosti,
selvaggi e straordinari dell’Isola. Partendo
tappa nelle piccole stazioni aperte solo in
estate solo per scopi turistici. Costeggiando
74
La stazione di Arzachena
sosta. Il viaggio continua verso Calangianus,
ammirando stupendi scenari naturalistici tipici
sardo Giuseppe Biasi, raffiguranti colorate
museo nell’antica officina, dove è riproposta
l’atmosfera ferroviaria di fine ‘800. Da qui il
viaggio a ritroso proseguirà in costante discesa
bel viadotto costruito negli anni ‘50, in sostituzione
Capichera (vicina all’area archeologica di Li
Climb on board the Trenino Verde (little green train) and relive the atmosphere of the Far
West. Once you are inside this old steam engine you will be brought to see the most extraordinary
wild and hidden scenery of the whole island. Leaving from Palau, you can admire
all the beauty of a still uncontaminated natural environment, making stops at little stations
open only in the summer for tourists. Around Porto Raphaele, the train enters a narrow valley,
leaving the sea behind. By the time it reaches the stations at Arzachena and Capichera the
vegetation becomes less dense. The train then enters a tunnel before turning towards the
beautiful little station at Sant’Antonio, running alongside the shores of the Liscia lake, an immense
artificial reservoir, where it takes a stop. The journey then continues towards Calangianus,
allowing you to take in the breathtaking natural scenery characteristic of this region.
76
The train climbs amongst enormous oaks near to factories that process cork and granite,
until it reaches the station at Tempio Pausania, built in 1931 to replace an older one constructed
at the end of the nineteenth century. This station represents a very characteristic
architecture, with a waiting room decorated with the paintings of the famous Sardinian artist
Giuseppe Biasi which depict the colourful festivities of country-folk dressed in traditional
Sardinian costume, and a museum in a disused workshop that brings to life the atmosphere
of the railways at the end of the 1800s. From here the train begins a straight descent to the
sea. Passing through the station at Nuchis, just outside Tempio, you arrive at Luras, from
where until 1938 another line brought passengers across the Limbara mountains to the
Monti station which links with the FS rail network. After the stop at Calangianus, the train
runs alongside a deep gorge and passes a very curious house carved from an enormous
block of granite. After further stops at San Leonardo and Riu Piatu you pass the Liscia lake
to arrive at the charming station of Sant’Antonio, just below the town. On the way you pass
a beautiful viaduct built during the 1950s to replace an older one whose remains can be
seen a little further off. Entering another tunnel, the journey changes again: the train passes
through, in sequence, the stations of Oddastru, Capichera (near the Li Muri archaeological
zone), and Caldosa, before arriving at the station of Arzachena, not far from this famous
town-centre, capital of the Costa Smeralda. You can feel the closeness of the sea, though
it cannot yet be seen: this happens a few kilometres to the north, alongside the main road,
after a large bend. Here, an extraordinary panorama opens before you, offering you stunning
views of one of the most spectacular areas on earth: the coast of Gallura and the La Maddalena
archipelago. From here you arrive at the first station in Palau, and, later, after around a
kilometre and after an unusual changeover (the shunting rail), at the second station, which
is at the harbour from where the ferries embark.
Tradizioni
i mercatini locali
Anche una destinazione
turistica esclusiva
come la Costa
Smeralda riserva ai
suoi visitatori spazi
e momenti di una
semplicità quotidiana
inaspettata. E’ il
caso dei mercatini
(rionali) i quali, favoriti
dalla bella stagione
e dall’afflusso dei
turisti, diventano in
alcuni centri costieri
e non, un’alternativa
alla spiaggia o alla
barca.
The street markets
In spite of the exclusivity of the Costa Smeralda as a holiday resort it does also offer its visitors
unexpected moments of simplicity from daily life. This is the case where the local street
markets are concerned; taking advantage of the good weather and influx of tourists they
become a happy alternative to the beach or boat. The markets were born from the need to
exchange goods, but with the growth of mass distribution they have taken on a more ethnic
style, even if it is still possible to find stalls selling fruit and vegetables as well as lingerie.
The most sought after products are, however, those typical of the island, such as the superb
Pecorino cheese and locally produced cold cuts, and also the ‘Torrone’ (a sort of nougat)
from Tonnara, made at the foot of Gennargentu. There are also influences from Africa, Asia
and South America, with textiles, knick knacks and art that give an international flavour and
touch of colour. One of the many markets in the Gallura area which deserves special mention
is the summer market in San Pantaleo which is held on Tuesday. In this small village that
nestles among the green hills covered in Mediterranean flora and surrounded by imposing
granite formations, time seems to pass more slowly than that which we are used to nowa-
84
days. The director, Piero Livi chose this village as the setting for his film ‘I Dimenticati’ (The
Forgotten). The film was set during the second world war and Livi’s idea for aging the village
by simply covering the tarmac with mud is a good measure of the ‘suspension of time’ that
every Tuesday morning is mixed with the market stalls and the curiosity of its visitors. For
some years now Baia Sardinia has been on the circuit. Its market takes place on Sunday in
the Borgo dei Pini, instead of choosing the usual central streets as the location for the market
here it is set in the shade of pine trees. These markets make a pleasant change to a day at
the sea, and a different one can be found every morning of the week in a different location
each time.
Baja
Sardinia
Baia Sardinia, or rather Cala Battisoni, is one of the best-known and most-visited tourist
towns along the coast of Gallura. Born at the beginning of the ‘60s thanks to the intuition,
passion and entrepreneurial foresight of Domenico Gentili, in conjunction with the real
estate project of the Ragnedda family, originally owners of the surrounding land, and the
enthusiasm of some friends, it developed to the point where it assumed an identity that
was not only touristic: today in Baia Sardinia there are thirteen hotels and four hundred villas
and apartments, as well as all the amenities of a modern village. It is perhaps the one
coastal resort where the beach and the village itself merge into one, protected from behind
by granite, with the crystal waters of the sea lapping the shore, and whose inhabitants, who
are not only islanders, mingle with regular guests as well as first-time visitors. But it is the
human touch, the “people of Baia”, that gives this place the value that has made its fortune
till now: beginning with the community’s spiritual guide Father Giacomino Canu, not only
the parish priest but also painter, writer, and animal-lover, whose masses bring in a larger
crowd than the local second-division football team. By day, the beach is the pulsating centre
of the village, and the Approdo beach with its bathing facilities and restaurants is its fulcrum;
from here those who love adventure can take a dinghy and within minutes reach the islands
of the La Maddelena archipelago, while for the less brave there are organised trips aboard
more substantial vessels. After the beach, a drink in the square is a “must”, especially at the Filigheddu
brothers’ News Café. While for dinner, as an alternative to dining at the hotel, there
is the informal Sole Mare, the elegant Casablanca (recently entrusted to the director of the
Club Hotel Marco Gaggioli), Sebastiano and Gianfilippo’s Approdo (excellent for fish), or the
classic Grazia Deledda on the road to Arzachena. The mix of people that characterises the
meeting places of Baia Sardinia involves and absorbs, so that often passing tourists are so
captivated they remain and come to form an integral part of it, like in the case of Marco and
Paola Lagotto, who arrived casually more than ten years ago and by now, like many others,
have become “people of Baia”.
Palau
97
Palau
The small town of Palau is situated in one of the most spectacular parts of the northwest
coast of Sardinia. Thanks to its location, the town has achieved, in latter years, extraordinary
success in terms of attracting international tourism. Its coastlines, which seem artistically
modelled by nature, evoke surreal and unique representations of the world, with features
such as the giant rock bear who, immobile for millennia, dominates the entire area. This
coastline twists its way from Porto Liscia to Capo d’Orso, taking in Porto Pollo, Cala Trana and
Punta Sardegna, before turning towards the
south to form the bay of Mezzoschifo. The
etymological roots of Palau’s name lie in the
fourteenth century, when fishermen used
the term ‘parago’, later distorted to ‘parao’,
to indicate areas of the coast that were
more sheltered from the winds. The headland
of Palau, like the entire La Maddalena
archipelago, has been well-known since the
time of Ptolemy, who recorded the area on
his maps as ‘Arcti Promontoria’. Legend has
it that Homer, when describing the voyages
of Ulysses, thought of this area as one
of the landing places of his hero. Everyone
is free to believe as they please, but if there
is a sea where Neptune could have taunted
his adversary with alternating storms and
calm waters then this is surely it. Indeed, this
is considered one of the best-suited areas
for sailing and windsurfing. The first documented
record of settlement there is linked
to Giovan Domenico Fresi and the 1 st of August
1875. It is from that date that we can
trace the large migration from the interior
of the island occasioned by the construction
of new coastal fortifications, which replaced
the crumbling walls that had stood since the
100
eighteenth century. Many families moved
from the interior of the Gallura region to
work on the forts of Monte Altura, Capo
d’Orso and Baragge. The number of forts
dominating this stretch of coast shows the
strategic importance of this area from the
time of the conquest by Piedmont during
the late eighteenth century until the World
Wars. In 1793, the French attempted to take
the island: in fact, the command of the expedition
intended to conquer the north of
the island was entrusted to Napoleon, then a
young lieutenant, who managed to occupy
the fortress of Santo Stefano for three days.
Towards the end of the last century, the population
of the area began to grow with the
arrival of fishermen and farmers who knew
how to make the best use, in order to advance
their own socio-economic condition,
of the area’s fortunate geographical position,
almost equidistant from the La Maddalena
archipelago and the Costa Smeralda.
Palau today offers not only the attractions of
a tourist port, but also serves as a base for
large passenger ferries connecting Sardinia
with mainland Italy.

Porto Cervo
La Costa
Smeralda
104
Intorno all’anno 1960 il principe Karim Aga
costruzione dell’aeroporto Costa Smeralda
portarono all’apice l’espansione turistica del
dello stazzo, l’antica dimora pastorale gallurese.
Porto Cervo in realtà
L’ultima in ordine cronologico
The Emerald Coast
Around the year 1960, the Prince Karim Aga
Khan, while flying over the northern part of
Sardinia, discovered the beautiful coastline of
Arzachena. By the following year, the Ishmaelite
prince had acquired some five thousand
hectares of land and had founded a consortium
to transform this area into an exclusive
centre ready to receive the high-fliers of the
international jet-set. The consortium and the
coastline both took on the name of Costa
Smeralda, with the area’s boundaries being
well marked by two enormous granite boulders
alongside the road, which displayed not
only the area’s name but also a stylized symbol
of an emerald. News and images of this
coast spread through high society, as well
as images of those v.i.p.s who busied themselves
there living the dolce vita; if other famous
Italian destinations became touristic
capitals for the young, the nobles and nabobs
recognised only one name when it came to
taking a Mediterranean holiday: Costa Smeralda.
The construction of the Costa Smeralda
airport brought to its peak the expansion of
tourism on the tract of coast from Arzachena
to Olbia, bringing development to the entire
coast of the Gallura region from Santa Teresa
to San Teodoro. The land of the stazzi cottages
is now the main focus of Sardinia’s tourism,
which is in turn based on careful planning
regulations aimed at getting the best from
the most beautiful locations along the coast.
The Costa Smeralda is an enormous holiday
complex, constructed from elegant houses
that follow the style of the stazzu, the ancient
dwellings of the shepherds of Gallura. These
homes are buried amidst the granite and
vegetation of the Mediterranean maquis, and
at times their presence is only apparent because
of the visibility of their entrance gates.
Porto Cervo has by now the appearance of
a small town, equipped with all necessary
services, and in continuous expansion. A little
106
outside the town itself is the small village of
Abbiadori, from which, by taking a left turn,
you can arrive at Cala di Volpe, Capriccioli and
Romazzino. The famous beaches of Cala Liscia
Ruia, la Celvia, Capriccioli and del Principe
can all be found along this six kilometre long
road. Directly across from Capriccioli and Li
Coggi arise the islands of Mortorio and Soffi,
to the north and south respectively, which
form part of the La Maddalena Archipelago
National Park. Not far from the Cala di Volpe
hotel is to be found the Pevero Golf Club,
with a fantastic eighteen-hole course of international
repute. During the 1960s Porto
Cervo was the central reference point for
yachts in the Mediterranean, with the layout
of the town allowing yachtsmen to dock and
then walk along Porto Cervo Marina into the
heart of the town, where they could find repose
in its exclusive hotels. During the 1970s,
however, perhaps inspired by the sea there,
perhaps by having found themselves chatting
with others who shared a common passion,
the sailors in the Mediterranean became
more numerous, and inspired by a wind that
is never lacking in Sardinia, there began to be
talk of organising sailing competitions. These
began with the Sardinia Cup, which was followed
by the Swan Cup and the Veteran Boat
Rally, which featured vintage vessels from all
over the world. The last, though certainly not
the least spectacular, was to be the Maxi Yacht
Rolex Cup. The real victory, however, came in
1983, when Cino Ricci and Azzurra arrived for
the semi-finals of the America’s Cup, the most
famous competition in the world.

Porto Cervo
110
Da sempre conosciuta come la regina della
Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo continua a mantenere
inalterato il suo mito. Meta ambita dai
suoi frequentatori: dalle feste private in ville e
yachts a quelle che monopolizzano locali famosi
e hotel a cinque stelle.
Tom Barrack
in piazza Azzurra, Jazz, e concerti rock, come
a visitarla.
esclusiva.
Porto
Cervo
112
Always known as the queen of the Costa
Smeralda, Porto Cervo continues to live up
to its myth. A favoured destination for visitors
from all over the world, it hosts a range
of in-demand social occasions for its guests:
from private parties in villas or on yachts, to
those larger events that take over famous
local spots or five star hotels. Among these,
an event has just concluded at the old port
dedicated to the exhibition of luxury in all
its shades. Before this, though, there was another:
Polo, with all its popular culture and
traditions – the result of Tom Barrack’s strong
desire to establish a stage on the national circuit
of the “sport of kings”. There was also the
brilliant second edition of the Cala di Volpe
literary prize, and “Cortes Apertas”, which
helped further immerse visitors in the culture
and local flavours of the island. Still to come
are the jazz concerts at the Piazza Azzurra,
as well as rock concerts, such as those at the
Cala di Volpe hotel, which will play host to Gianni
Nannini, and twenty days later, Enrique
Iglesias. There will be unmissable nights-out
every night at the Pepero Club, the Billionaire,
the Sottovento and the Ritual. Restaurants,
clubs and night-spots keep the Costa’s guests
entertained until the early hours of the morning,
and the next day the scent of croissants
and freshly-baked bread will revive them after
the excesses of the night before. There is
more to Porto Cervo than this, though: all day
long its shores see fabulous boats, and it welcomes
cruise ships pausing on their tours of
the Mediterranean, as well as the many tourists
that come to visit the town. Its centre, with
its promenade and small squares, hosts many
shops with the most up-to-date and exclusive
fashions. For an aperitif or after dinner drink,
the piazzetta, the old port and the new marina
teem with people of all ranks, meeting
to recount the events of the day just ended
and to make arrangements for the evening.
A new adventure awaits them that night. Just
as it does the following day when they awake
from a long sleep to refresh themselves in the
splendid waters of the Costa.

Poltu
Quatu
Poltu Quatu lies on the North West coast
of Sardinia known as the Costa Smeralda. It
can be easily reached from all corners of the
Mediterranean and is the perfect base for
those that want to go round the archipelago
of La Maddalena: from the island of Caprera
to those of La Maddalena, Santa Maria,
Spargi, Spargiotto, Budelli, Lavezzi, Cavallo
to Corsica. Poltu Quatu, which means hidden
port in Sardinian, lies in the fiord that is
geographically called Stintino dell’Orso. The
village is the reproduction of an ancient
sea hamlet, built around the classic, round
square with narrow streets and castled
houses, surrounded by pink granite rocks,
some of which are rough while others ar
smooth like “clouds of stone”. The sea is
clear and it is quite common to see fish and
octopus swimming on the bottom. Poltu
Quatu was born in 1987 with the aim of
creating a port for people who love the sea
but didn’t want to give up the comforts of
life. A five stars hotel and famous restaurants
have made this little village one of the most
demanded place of Costa Smeralda.
Costa Smeralda
Poltu Quatu
internazionale: star dello spettacolo, dello sport e dell’imprenditoria,
