6 Work History.
I am employed by the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, at the IFSI Rome department,
with a permanent contract position. For the last 17 years I’ve been
working at the INFN experiment RE5 (Explorer) hosted by CERN.
6.1 Gravitational wave research and CERN.
For all the held presentations, public lectures, seminars and teaching activities,
please see section 5.
• 1992 - present: Shifts coordinator for CERN experiment RE5 (Explorer),
CERN - experiment interaction management, study and implementation
(using ROOT,C,C++) of new data analysis techniques for resonant bar
gravitational data analysis, like wavelets transforms and filtering. Non
modeled burst signal data analysis both for RE5 and Nautilus experiment
hosted in Frascati - Italy.
• 1999 - present: As member of the task force of IGEC (International Gravitational
Events Collaboration), active participation to data analysis technique
definition and data exchange protocol. Design and management of
the events data base for Explorer and Nautilus: formerly on an ORACLE
CERN server (with Java, JDBC, Java Servelets interfaces), now on a Psql
server in Rome. Control of the events congruences before collaboration
data exchange.
• 2007 - present: As member of the VIRGO interferometer collaboration,
some participation to VIRGO acquisition shifts with the duty of checking
science data quality. Study of porting of data analysis techniques from
resonant bar detectors to interferometers and vice-versa.
• 1995 - 2003: RE5 and Nautilus data filtering and validation.
6.2 Mathematical logic.
• 1992 - 1994: Original researh for a logic theory to extend in an efficient
way the application field of an existing theorem prover (SATCHMO). New
theorem demonstrations and a Prolog implementation.
6.3 Space research field and related topics.
• 1985 - 1992: Magnetic experiment TEMAG on board of the TSS spacecraft
(NASA-ASI collaboration). Experiment specifications definition in
team with the GSFC - NASA (Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in
Greenbelt, Md. USA) group and the Technical University of Braunschweig
- Germany group. Experiment - spacecraft interfaces definition. Project
scientist of the industrial contract ASI with the Gavazzi industry for the
on board experiment data handling unit. Two years in Bombay India for
a collaboration with the Geomagnetic Institute of Colaba to take magnetic
field ground measurements during TSS mission. Unfortunately, both for
the Shuttle accident that postponed the mission and for a personal car
accidents the measures weren’t taken.
