Tutti i nomi con la radice Asar sono babilonesi o Assiri, alcuni autori ortodossi li identificano come varianti di Asshur, altri li considerano divinità distinte (Asarluhi, Asaru, Asaruluddu etc). La ‘Encyclopedia Britannica’ addirittura identifica Asalluhe (Asarluhi) con Ish.kur, come leggiamo alla corrispettiva voce: In his role as god of rain and thunder, Ishkur corresponded to the Sumerian deities Asalluhe and Ninurta. He was identified by the Akkadians with their god of thunderstorms, Adad. In realtà lo stesso ‘Inno ad Asarluhi’ ci chiarisce chi è questa divinità: August sage, firstborn son of Enki, […] Asarluhi penetrates everything. Nothing […]him. Lordly son of the abzu, endowed with holy wisdom, he is Marduk, the bringer of counsel. Asarluhi è Marduk, figlio primogenito di Enki. La stessa identificazione ci viene dall’ Enuma Elish: Anshar gave him another name: ASARLUHI. At the mention of his name we shall bow down! 38
Riguardo a Damgalnuna segnaliamo che questo è un epiteto di Damkina, figlia di Alalu, e sposa di Enki. Il suo nome, in origine Damgalnuna, e successivamente Damkina, divenne Ninki in seguito al suo intervento in aiuto del marito durante la creazone dell’ uomo. Nemmeno su Damkina – Damgalnuna gli studiosi sono d’ accordo. Leggiamo infatti in ‘Encyclopedia of Gods’ di Michael Jordan: Damgalnuna was a mother goddess in Mesopotamian mythology. She first appears as a consort of Enlil in Sumerian times and, as Mesopotamian traditions progress, becomes the Akkadian Damkina consort of Ea and mother of the god Marduk Un inno dedicato alla dea (A shir-shag-hula to Damgalnunna) ci dice che: Bride of Enki who determines fates favourably, great wild cow, exceptional in appearance, pre-eminent forever! Your husband, the great lord Nudimmud who makes perfect the borders of the Land Diversamente troviamo una identificazione di Damgalnuna con Ninhursag nel testo: ‘Creation stories of the middle east’ di Ewa Wasilewska (la quale si rifà ad una analisi di Kramer del testo ‘Enki and Ninhursagga’) forse a causa del fatto che sia a Damkina che a Ninhursag venne dato l’ epiteto ‘grande mucca’: L’ errore quindi non è di Sitchin nel supporre parentele non corrette, ma degli studiosi ortodossi che non trovano accordo nell’ identificare le divinità con i vari nomi. Lawton per rinforzare la sua obiezione muove una critica che ha a dir poco dello sconcertante. Le parentele descritte da Sitchin non sarebbero credibili perché: 39
