Fulvius Fla( , ebbe già prima altre fasi di arbitrato, e più innanzi an- cora avea dato luogo a guerre tra le due città (cfr. Plut. quaest. (jr. 20; Perici. 24. Thuc. 1, 115-177. Suid. s. v. Biocvto? npi'/;v£w? îV.r,. DiOG. Laert. 1, 5, 3 p. 84). Cagione di essa fu il possesso di un territorio composto di vari distretti e posto sul continente asiatico, presso Priene, territorio che Samos possedeva da tempi imme- morabili. Le varie fasi ci son note in parte pel nostro senatoconsulto, in parte per altre iscrizioni greche, che contengono appunto giudizi arbitrali anteriori a questo dei Romani. Il primo fu pronunziato da Lysimachus re della Tracia (C. I. Gr. 2254) ; il secondo da Rhodos, che circa l'anno 514-240 a. Cr. attribuì a Priene il territorio contestato (C. I. Gr. 2005 A-E. Lk Ras-Waddinotox, Op. cit. IH n. 189-194. Cauer, Deled. iuscr. (.nor. n. 178. 17".». Ni.w ic.n-I lii ks, Op. cit. Ili n. 403), e che è anche ricordato nel nostro senatoconsulto.
