ANCHE L’IMPRONTA E’ UN FOSSILE<br />
I <strong>di</strong>nosauri carnivori, che<br />
erano bipe<strong>di</strong>, hanno lasciato<br />
impronte dei pie<strong>di</strong> a tre <strong>di</strong>ta,<br />
come quelle degli uccelli.<br />
Le impronte che lasciarono i<br />
<strong>di</strong>nosauri nel fango o nella sabbia seccarono e si<br />
fossilizzarono.<br />
Sono chiamate TRACCE FOSSILI perché non sono<br />
fossili <strong>di</strong> parti del corpo <strong>di</strong> animale.<br />
Come se fosse un detective, IL PALEONTOLOGO<br />
stu<strong>di</strong>a queste tracce per ricavare informazioni, sulle<br />
<strong>di</strong>mensioni e sul peso, sulla camminata, sulla velocità e<br />
persino sul tipo <strong>di</strong> <strong>di</strong>nosauro: se erbivoro o carnivoro.<br />
Numerose orme dello stesso tipo e nello stesso luogo,<br />
in<strong>di</strong>cano che un intero branco è passato per la<br />
medesima pista.<br />
