hall and on the two levels along the Biberatica street. Their organization
is thematic: each section includes a number of rooms,
intended for a single topic or an architectural complex belonging to
The Forum. In particular, there are the rooms devoted to the Forum
of Caesar, the halls devoted to the Forum of Augustus, the hall
called ”The Memory of the old” and the room devoted to the statue
of Colossus, while in the central rooms are placed the main findings
and the reconstructions of the porch and of the statues of the Forum
and of the temples. Within each room, the arrangement of works
of art, pieces of sculptures, archaeological pieces that are part of the
entablature, cornices, columns, and the other, also wants to present
itself as a way of inserting the fragment in its original configuration
and in its original position, for a more realistic and comprehensive
reading of the archaeological site.
To this aim, the archaeological fragments are placed at the height
and in the most appropriate position, in order to create the perception
of the object that was originally inside the archaeological
structures. For this purpose, are prepared the equipment and the
accommodation of special interest: metal trusses and metal supports
and plaster structures that elevate the level of the floor, placing
that at the center of a new and interesting visual. Is also realized a
reconstruction of the various parts making the pieces archaeological
by backgrounds and casts of plaster or resin, or through the combination
of fragments placed on a specially designed metal frame.
Is realized in this way, a fine work of restoration and reconstruction
that offers to the public the original forms of the old. One example
of that is the re-enforcement of the porch of the Forum, in the central
halls, where there are fragments of the cornice and frieze, placed
higher on a steel girder and of the column and of the capitals lower;
they are a whole who wants to reassemble and to propose in their
unity, the elements of the porch.
Other examples are: in the Great Hall, the reconstruction of the
attic of the Augustus Forum’s portico with the cast of a Caryatid
(fig. 3), or even in the section “The memory of the ancient”, the
restoration of internal order of the Mars Ultor’s Temple with the
capital and the base of the pilaster, and also of the external order of
the Mars Ultor’s Temple where the presence of the drip tray in the
shape of lion’s head, in the original, is approached to the resin casts
of the shelf and of the coffer, for to reproduce the system of the cover
and to perform the system of to drain the rainwater (fig. 4). This is
