Sex and the City,
dagli schermi
M a n h a t t a n :
quattro amiche
single, tra i 35 e
i 40 anni, e le loro avventure
romantiche e sessuali
condite con sottile e divertente
ironia conquistano e
coinvolgono le donne di
tutte le età in un mondo
raffinato, alla moda, unico
e irresistibile. Dal suo debutto sugli
schermi tv, nel 1998, “Sex and the
City” ne ha fatta di strada. Dopo sei
stagioni sul piccolo schermo, con
sette Emmy Awards e otto Golden
Globe all’attivo, la serie è arrivata
sullo schermo cinematografico nel
2008: record al box office, con 10
milioni di dollari solo in Italia. Per
non parlare degli incassi dell’home
video. Naturale che HBO abbia
pensato a sfruttarne il potenziale
comunicativo, perché la forza
evocativa e la riconoscibilità del
marchio consentono anche alle
aziende a più alto posizionamento
di sviluppare programmi di licensing
e di comunicazione creativi e
di tendenza. È un brand aspirazionale,
alla moda, sexy, spiritoso, con
forte personalità, grazie anche
all’ambiente che fa da sfondo alle
avventure delle quattro protagoniste:
club esclusivi, bar chic, ristoranti
lussuosi. Un mix perfetto per
conquistare un pubblico esigente e
attento alle tendenze moda. Tra i
primi a cavalcare
l’onda di questo
brand emergente
è proprio
un’azienda di
a b b i g l i a m e n t o
fashion, Liu Jo,
con la sua collezioneprimaveraestate
2010 che
tra poco sarà in vetrina. Le attività
di marketing a sostegno non
mancano e sono già in atto: il 30
novembre scorso è stata presentata
una pre-collezione e sono previsti
una campagna web, allestimenti
vetrina e distribuzione di flyer in
tutti i più importanti punti vendita.
E, mentre l’affascinante mondo di
“Sex and the City” fa il suo esordio
in passerella e nelle vetrine, al
cinema c’è già fervida attesa per il
sequel: l’uscita in Italia è prevista la
prossima estate.
Sex and the City hits
the high street
With the sequel to the film about to hit the screens, Liu
Jo is the first licensee to bet on HBO’s new lifestyle
brand: sexy, fun and sophisticated. Just like the four
trendsetting stars of the hugely successful Tv series
The Manhattan love affairs and sexual romps of 4
singles, all in their late thirties, have swept women of all
ages into an irresistible world of fashion, seasoned with
a welcome dash of irony. “Sex and the City” has come a
long way since its original Tv debut in 1998. With six
seasons, seven Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes
under its belt, the series spun off its first film in 2008.
Naturally it was a huge box office hit, raking in 10 million
dollars in Italy alone, not to mention the takings from the
home video. And equally naturally HBO has decided to
exploit its communicative potential, because the brand’s
evocative strength and recognisability makes it a hot
property for licensing and communication programmes
even for companies in the high end of the market. It is
undoubtedly an aspirational brand: trendy, sexy, fun,
with a strong personality and the action takes place
against an alluring background of exclusive clubs, chic
cafés and classy restaurants. The perfect mix to catch
the eye of a trend-conscious public. One of the first to
appreciate the brand has been the fashion company Liu
Jo for its 2010 spring/summer collection. The marketing
mix support machine is already up and running, with a
sneaky-peek pre-collection event held last 30
November, a web campaign in the pipeline and plans for
special window displays and leaflets for the sales
outlets. And as “Sex and the City” hits high street
boutiques its second film is due out on the big screen in
Italy next summer.
