sarà nelle sale italiane da ottobre,
mentre all’estero il debutto è previsto
tra Natale 2010 e Pasqua 2011».
K.: Quali, invece, le prospettive per
Huntik?
I.S.: «Sempre nel 2010 verrà
lanciata la seconda serie del
cartone animato Huntik Secret &
Seeker. Il cartoon, che è già stato
trasmesso con ottimi ascolti sia in
Italia che all’estero, sta riscuotendo
importanti risultati anche sul
fronte licensing, non ultimo il
lancio dei titani 3D in flow pack da
parte di Tridimensional in Italia e
Panini in altri paesi in Europa, con
vendite in Italia di oltre l’80%
rispetto al distribuito».
K.: Quali le strategie di lungo
periodo?
I.S.: «Nel 2011 prevediamo di inaugurare
il parco a tema Rainbow
Magic Land a Valmontone, appena
fuori Roma. Pur essendo un settore
molto diverso da quelli trattati
finora, è una sfida che abbiamo
deciso di intraprendere forti della
nostra esperienza in fatto di
creatività e intrattenimento. Si
tratta di un parco di 600mila
mq realizzato all’interno del
Polo Turistico Integrato di Roma–
Valmontone, che comprende il
Fashion District e diverse strutture
ricettive».
K.: Come vede il mercato del
licensing in Italia e all’estero?
I.S.: «Fino a poco tempo fa il licensing
era confinato a Stati Uniti e
Giappone, mentre oggi trova spazi
crescenti in Europa, con ampi
margini di sviluppo. Quando è partita
Rainbow, con un modello di business
che sviluppava il licensing a 360
gradi sulle properties, abbiamo
incontrato scetticismo e diffidenza.
Ma i risultati ci hanno dato ragione, e
oggi Rainbow rappresenta un
modello in Italia e in Europa».
K.: Dove vede il maggior potenziale
di crescita?
I.S.: «In paesi come la Russia e l’est
Europa, dove il licensing sta
muovendo i primi passi. Basta
vederlo dai risultati eccezionali che
Winx sta riscuotendo in Russia: la
serie Tv è in onda su CTC con ottimi
dati di ascolto e un programma di
licensing già attivo dall’abbigliamento
al giocattolo, dal back to
school alle promozioni food».
Stefania Ormazza
MipCom in Cannes. The series is being launched
complete with a licensing plan that already has two
exclusives: Ferrero for food promotion in Italy and other
European countries and Bandai as master toy licensee”.
K.: What expectations do you have for the second Winx
Club film?
I.S.: “We’re counting on equalling the success of the first
film, which took over 8 million euros at the box office in
Italy alone. We’ve got an exceptionally good distributor
for Italy, Medusa. And we’re working on plans for
licensing, co-marketing and promotions for the film too.
It’s coming out in Italy next October, and then abroad
from Christmas 2010 and Easter 2011”.
K.: What about Huntik?
I.S.: “In 2010 we’re launching the second series of the
cartoon Huntik Secret & Seeker. Huntik has been a great
success and is doing well in the licensing field, when the
3D titans were launched in flow pack by Tridimensional
in Italy and Panini in other European countries, Italian
sales notched up over 80% of the packs distributed”.
K.: What are your long-term strategies?
I.S.: “In 2011 we’re planning to open the Rainbow Magic
Land theme park at Valmontone, just outside
Rome. That’ll cover 600,000 square metres located in the
Rome–Valmontone tourism development area, with its
Fashion District and several other tourist facilities”.
K.: What's your view of the licensing market in Italy and
abroad?
I.S.: “Up until a short time ago licensing was confined to
the USA and Japan, while nowadays it’s carving a market
in Europe, with plenty of elbow room to grow. When
Rainbow was launched, with a business plan that thoroughly
exploited licensing, some people were sceptic, but
the results proved us right and today Rainbow is a model”.
K.: Where do you see most potential for growth?
I.S.: “In countries like Russia and East Europe, where
licensing is in its infancy. You only have to look at Winx’
fantastic results in Russia: the TV series was broadcast
on CTC with impressive audiences and we’ve got a
licensing programme up and running, ranging from
apparel to food promotions”.
