Fig 4 La Stanza RGB rivela motivi e
immagini in condizioni estreme di luce.
Fig 4 The RGB Room demonstrates
patterns and images in extreme lighting
conditions.
vengono chiamate “illusioni ottiche”. Possiamo
e luce.
ambienti virtuali (AV) così come problemi generali
that do not physically exist (e.g. Chevreul illusion).
We can also mix the experiences of surface colour
and light. Many of these illusions have been successfully
presented in two-dimensional form, and
the specific challenge within the VCL project has
been to demonstrate them in a spatial digital threedimensional
environment.
Problems of designing an interactive
colour demonstrator
The work with the VCL-project has revealed several
problems connected to colour reproduction in virtual
environments (VEs) as well as general problems
regarding the design of a VE. Realism; interactivity
and possibilities for spatial orientation within the
model are issues frequently discussed in research
concerning VEs, whereas the difficulties regarding
colour reproduction highlight the need for further
research in this field. These issues are the subject
of a recent doctorate dissertation by Stahre 6 .
INVITATION TO CO-OPERATE
The existing version of the VCL is a prototype which
at present is being evaluated by a number of potential
users from different professions. We hope that
we will get the possibility to continue the project
and develop the VCL into a platform for showing colour
research results from all over the world. Therefore
we invite you all to discussions about possible
future co-operation around this project.
