Nei boschi alle pendici delle Dolomiti di Brenta vivono gli ultimi
esemplari di orsi bruni delle Alpi. Fino agli anni 2000 il loro
numero si era ridotto drammaticamente. Nel 2001 ne erano
rimasti soltanto cinque. Fabio Osti, per passione e per professione,
era il più grande esperto dell’orso bruno del Trentino. Ne
seguiva gli spostamenti, sapeva riconoscerne le tracce e sapeva
dove si trovavano le tane dove i plantigradi trascorrevano, in letargo,
il lungo inverno. Il fi lm accompagna Osti lungo un anno
di lavoro attraverso boschi e ci fa conoscere l’ultimo cacciatore
di orsi: il vecchio Nene.
In the woods on the slopes of the Brenta Dolomites live the last
exemplars in the Alps of brown bears. Up until 2000, their numbers
were dramatically reduced. In 2001, only fi ve remained.
Fabio Osti, out of passion and as a profession, was the greatest
brown bear expert in the Trentino region. He followed their
movements, recognized their tracks, and knew where the lairs
where they spent the long winters in hibernation were located.
Th e fi lm follows Osti during a year of work in the forests and introduces
us to the last bear hunter, old Nene.

Josef Schwellensattl è nato in Val
d’Ultimo nel 1954. Dopo il diploma
alla Scuola d’Arte di Ortisei, si è trasferito
a Monaco di Baviera dove ha
frequentato la Hochschule für Film
und Fernsehen. Dal 1981 lavora
come autore e regista per la Bayerisches
Fernsehen.
Josef Schwellensattl was born in
the Val d’Ultimo in 1954. After a
diploma from the Scuola d’Arte in
Ortisei, he moved to Munich where
he studied at the Hochschule für
Film und Fernsehen. Since 1981 he
has worked as writer and director
for Bayerisches Fernsehen.
