Il ghiacciaio del Grossglockner è il più grande delle Alpi Austriache.
Lassù, ambiente naturale e civilizzazione convivono
strettamente l’uno accanto all’altra. Da quando fu costruita la
spettacolare Hochalpenstrasse, migliaia di turisti salgono con la
loro auto per poi camminare sulla lingua del ghiacciaio che di
anno in anno si ritira. Guide alpine, albergatori e pastori vivono
grazie a questo ghiacciaio. Il loro futuro dipende dalla sua sopravvivenza.
Th e Grossglockner glacier is the largest in the Austrian Alps. Up
there, nature and civilization coexist in close quarters. Since the
spectacular Hochalpenstrasse was built, thousands of tourists go
up by car and then walk on the strip of the glacier that retreats
each year. Alpine guides, hoteliers, and shepherds all live thanks
to this glacier. Th eir future depends on its survival.

München.
Born in 1955, he studied anthropology,
geology, and Portuguese
philology. Journalist, author, and
independent director, Bauer has directed
documentaries and fi lms for
the most important German television
broadcasters. He is a member
of the board of directors of the
Internationales Dokumentarfi lmfestival
München.
