Un villaggio buio, diroccato, ormai deserto, dove non si vede mai il sole. Per
molti anni Urs si è preso cura della sua anziana madre. Ora ha deciso che è
giunto il momento di trovare un posto migliore per entrambi. Decide quindi
di partire per un viaggio lungo e pericoloso, che lo porterà verso la vetta della
montagna, al di là della quale si intravvede splendere il sole. Ma la madre
non vuole lasciare la sua casa… Urs si trova di fronte a interrogativi comuni
a molti, forse a tutti noi: per quanto tempo possiamo rimanere in una condizione
intollerabile? è giusto tentare di cambiare le cose? e gli altri… si può
davvero decidere cos’è il meglio per qualcun altro?
A dark, crumbling village, by now deserted, that never sees the sun. For many
years, Urs has taken care of his elderly mother. Now he decides the time has
come to fi nd a better place for both of them. And so he decides to leave on a
long and dangerous voyage that will take him toward the peak of the mountain,
beyond which he can glimpse the shining sun. But his mother does not
want to leave her house… and Urs fi nds himself facing questions common to
many, perhaps all of us: for how long can we remain in an intolerable situation?
Is it right to try to change things? And the others… can one truly decide
what is best for someone else?
Mortiz Mayerhofer
Nato nel 1981, decide molto giovane di dedicarsi
al cinema. Dopo alcuni anni in un gruppo
di cinema durante il liceo, inizia a studiare
animazione alla Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
Nel 2005 è membro della giuria dello Zlín
International Filmfestival (Repubblica Ceca) e
del Roshd International Filmfestival (Iran). Per
approfondire le sue conoscenze nel campo
del cinema di animazione partecipa a un programma
di scambio con la prestigiosa École de
l’Image Le Gobelins di Parigi.
Born in 1981, he decided at a very young age
to devote his life to fi lm. After several years in a
high school fi lm group, he began to study animation
at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
In 2005 he was a member of the jury of
the Zlín International Filmfestival (Czech Republic)
and of the Roshd International Filmfestival
(Iran). To further his understanding of animation
he participated in an exchange program with
the prestigious École de l’Image Le Gobelins
in Paris.
