Sonia Spagnoli è una giovane studentessa universitaria, fragile e al tempo
stesso coraggiosa. Trascorre tutte le estati, insieme con il padre e con i fratelli,
in una malga a 2200 metri. I suoni della montagna e del lavoro, ma soprattutto
le mani dei protagonisti, nei loro gesti semplici, somma di una cultura
antica, scandiscono il racconto. Le mani di Sonia “pettinano” il burro, quelle
di Giacomo, suo padre, fanno nascere dalla caldera una acerba forma di Silter,
quelle di Giovanni, in continuo e precario equilibrio, sono alle prese con
le mammelle di una vacca, quelle del piccolo Ivan, già capace di azioni da
adulto, spaccano con sorprendente energia i ceppi di legna da ardere. Sopra
a tutti e a tutto c’è il tempo, lento nel dettare i ritmi delle azioni quotidiane
eppure così impellente nell’anticipare le tappe della vita. In montagna diventi
grande troppo presto, diventi vecchio troppo presto, ma alla fi ne della
giornata tutti hanno la consapevolezza di aver dato tutto quello che si può,
mai di meno, molto spesso di più.
Sonia Spagnoli is a young university student, fragile and at the same time
corageous. She spends every summer, with her father and brothers, in a
cheese-making hut at 2200 metres. Th e sounds of the mountains and of the
work, but above all the hands of the protagonists, with their simple gestures
that reassume an antique culture, give rhythm to this story. Sonia’s hands
“comb” the butter, while those of Giacomo, her father, pull from the “caldera”
an unripe form of Silter. Th ose of Giovanni, in continuous and precarious
equilibrium, are at work milking a cow, and those of little Ivan, already able
to do the work of an adult, chop fi rewood with amazing energy. Above all and
above everything is time, which both dictates the slow rhythms of the daily
chores, and gives a sense of urgency to the milestones of life. In the mountains,
one grows up too fast, and grows old too fast, but at the end of the day everyone
knows that they have given their all — never less, and oft en much more.
