Il patrimonio di tradizioni ludiche dei territori di montagna
è molto ampio e presenta caratteristiche particolari, spesso
dettate dalla conformazione del suolo e dalla rigidità del clima.
Perché ogni gioco tradizionale è fortemente legato al territorio
dove viene praticato, e mantiene nelle regole, nei gesti e nelle
espressioni linguistiche antiche usanze, che vivono e sono
portate nel futuro proprio dalle persone che praticano il gioco.
Spesso le comunità ludiche sono inconsapevoli del valore
culturale e sociale legato al gioco della tradizione, e da anni
Associazione Giochi Antichi si batte per la ricerca, la tutela e la
salvaguardia di un patrimonio vastissimo e vitale, al quale invece
raramente viene attribuito un valore.
Una concezione che ha moltissime affi nità con lo spirito che
anima il Film Festival della Lessinia, attento a evitare ogni retorica
sull’alpinismo e a puntare invece l’obiettivo sulle genti
di montagna, proponendo un’accurata documentazione e scegliendo
storie particolari e universali insieme.
Sono proprio gli aspetti vitali nella contemporaneità della tradizione
quelli che maggiormente ci interessano e che rappresentano
l’oggetto dei nostri studi e della nostra attività di ricerca,
sia come Associazione sia come Centro di documentazione sul
gioco tradizionale. Attività di ricerca che sono alla base di Tocatì,
Festival Internazionale dei Giochi in Strada, da noi ideato
e organizzato in collaborazione con il comune di Verona, che
porta nella nostra città numerose comunità ludiche e attrae
centinaia di migliaia di persone. Quest’anno il 23 settembre
2010 si inaugura una nuova sezione: “Tocatì & cinema”, realizzata
in collaborazione con il Film Festival della Lessinia. Occasione
migliore per cominciare non poteva esserci perché nel
2010 Tocatì vede la presenza della Svizzera come ospite d’onore
ed è dedicato ai giochi della montagna.

Th e gamut of traditional games from mountain territories is
extremely vast and has unique characteristics that are oft en dictated
by the structure of the land and the rigidity of the climate
where they are practiced. Each traditional game is strongly tied
to the territory where it is played, and maintains antique usages
in the rules, gestures, and linguistic expressions that remain alive
and are passed on to the next generation by those who play them.
More oft en than not, communities of players are unaware of the
cultural and social value inherent in traditional games and for
years the Associazione Giochi Antichi has striven to research,
protect, and preserve the extensive and vital patrimony that is
rarely given a value.
Th is mission has much affi nity with the spirit of the Film Festival
della Lessinia, which is careful to avoid any rhetoric about
Alpinism and instead focuses on the people of the mountains by
presenting careful documentation and choosing stories that are
at once singular and universal.
Th e vital aspects in the contemporary version of tradition are
what most interest us and represent the object of our studies and
research activity, both at the Association and at the Center for
the Documentation of Traditional Games. Th is research activity
is at the heart of Tocatì, the International Festival of Street
Games that we created and organize annually in collaboration
with the City of Verona; each year this event bring numerous
game-playing communities to our city and attracts hundreds of
thousands of visitors. Th is year, on September 23, 2010, we will
inaugurate a new event, “Tocatì and the Cinema”, organized
in association with the Film Festival della Lessinia. Th ere could
not have been a better occasion to begin this new collaboration,
because the guest of honour at the 2010 edition of Tocatì is Switzerland,
and it is dedicated to mountain games.
