Mediterraneo,.which was held at Palazzo Ducale from 10 th September to 7 th November 2010, and the historical-archaeological itinerary.
Riflessi.sul.Tirreno, curated by the Museo di Archeologia Ligure and by the Preservation Department of the Berio Library, exhibited traces
and tangible evidence of ancient civilizations (archaeological finds, medieval documents, ancient maps, coins, precious artefacts and items
from daily life) in combination with Studio Azzurro’s video installations, showing travel experiences through the Mediterranean Sea.
Pittura.votiva.in.Liguria (Votive painting in Liguria), by Giovanni Meriana. As a fringe to the exibition Riflessi.sul.Tirreno,.which included
a section dedicated to ex-votos, the author offers an in-depth view on sanctuaries and the ex-voto tradition in Liguria.
Sulla.corporazione.dei.chirurghi.e.barbieri:.il.caso.genovese.da.un.manoscritto.della.Biblioteca.Berio (About the guild of surgeons and
barbers: the Genoese case, based on a Berio Library manuscript), by Grazia Benvenuto. This article traces back the history of Genoese surgeons
and barbers. Between the 15 th and 16 th centuries Genoese surgeons and barbers congregated into a guild under the control of the physicians. In
the 17 th century they split. In 1694 the surgeons rewrote the Statutes of the Guild. The Berio Library still preserves a manuscript containing
the statutes of the surgeons and the barbers, as approved on 17 th September 1591, and a decree dated 1610 which established the separation
of the barbers from the surgeons.
L’editore.genovese.Anton.Donath..Aggiornamento.delle.scoperte.(The Genoese publisher Anton Donath. An update of discoveries), by
Felice Pozzo. Anton Donath, an adopted Genoese, is mainly known as the publisher of the novelist Emilio Salgari. Only one century after
their working relationship came to an end (1906-2006) was it possible to learn more about his biography. The author that made those
discoveries is now proposing an updated version of them on the occasion of the one-hundredth anniversary of Salgari’s death (1911-2011).

preserve… allow to copy”..Considerations on the copying and preservation of paintings in early nineteenth-century Genoa), by Maddalena
Vazzoler. The author deals with the custom of making copies of works of art as an alternative to their restoration, dwelling on the case of the
destruction of the frescoes in the church of St. Domenico and the role played by the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti and, particularly, by
its secretary Marcello Durazzo.

On the occasion of the 150 th anniversary of the Expedition of the Thousand, the Museo del Risorgimento has devoted a new section to the
Ligurians that took part in it: according to official estimates, 157 out of 1,089. The article contains biographical notes and information on
memories and documents regarding many of them, preserved at the Istituto Mazziniano – Museo del Risorgimento in Genoa.
