È la luce che differenzia le
stagioni.
La luce è calda e fredda, triste e
piacevole, debole e intensa. La
luce è bellezza.
La LUCE nella vita è tutto.
Each season has its own particular
light.
Light which is attenuated or intense;
communicates warmth or coldness;
makes you feel sad or uplifted.
Light is beauty.
Light is life.

L'immagine e la sua luce, la luce
e la sua immagine, sono una
«visione» leggera, impalpabile,
astratta.
Molti film mostrano una
bellissima «fotografia» che non é
«luce», e proprio questa
differenza rende così
difficile creare la giusta, vera
luce di un film.
Ma quando la luce c'é, una
sensazione intellettiva trasfigura
tutta la scena che la contiene e
la irradia.
Le immagini, all'improvviso
senza veli, galleggiano in una
specie di felicità ottica, come se
la luce fosse riuscita ad infiltrarsi
dentro le cose in tutto il loro
volume e fosse poi risalita fino
alla superfice aderendo
all'epidermide di ognuna di esse.
E questa «luce» che vorrei
ottenere illuminando le scene di
un film.
In «Donna d'Ombra», diretto da
Luigi Faccini, storia di una
solitudine che s'intreccia alla
memoria, ho rappresentato col
mio lavoro fotografico una prima
sintesi fra intenti e risultati.
Illuminando quei visi e quei
corpi nei luoghi stessi della loro
storia, ho preparato uno spazio
affettivamente luminoso che
suggerisce l'incontro fra un
desiderio di felicità e una certa
condizione psicologicamente
lacerata.
Ho cercato una luce che
toccasse, qua e là nello spazio,
secondo intensità diverse, i
movimenti e le espressioni di
quei personaggi.
Volevo che ognuno di loro
avesse la propria luce di
solitudine e che, immerso in un
ordine luminoso più generale,
non apparisse più solo.

the image, an ethereal, abstract vision.
Many films are beautifully
photographed but lack that magical

quality in the light, and it is precisely
this that is so dificult to achieve.
But when it is there, it transfers in the
whole scene, filling it, radiating from it,
communicating the most wonderful
emotion.
The images, revealed in their, essence,
seem to float in a kind of optical sea of
happiness, as if the light had succeeded
in penetrating every part of them, then
spread otuwards to the surface,
imparting a living glow.
This is the kind of light 1 try to create
in my images.
«Donne D'Ombra», directed by Luigi
Faccini, is a story of solitude
intertwined with memory, and 1 sought
with the photography to primarily
create a synthesis of intention and
result.
Lighting those faces, those people in
the settings in which their story took
place, I created a «light of the
affections», with which I tried to
communicate the terrible desire for
happiness of a psyche lacerated by
loneliness. I wanted a light that would
«catch», here and there, according to
its different intensities, the movements
and expressions of the characters. 1
wanted each of them to have their
solitary light which, seen in the general
light of the affections would make
them seem a part of living, of feeling,
instead of being isolated in their
loneliness.
