La fotografìa è una strega e pesca
a piene mani nella magia. Riesce
a rendere visibile l'invisibile,
invisibile il visibile.
Nel fotogramma qui accanto mi
sono in parte attenuto ai modelli
pittorici secenteschi, cercando
nel contempo una più originale
rivisitazione e sottolineando in
particolare con effetti cromatici
di sfondamento, di sovra e
sottoesposizione il gioco degli
sguardi, dei volumi, dell'intensità
emotiva dei personaggi.
Nel primo piano, invece, con un
attento gioco di luci, ombre e
colori, ho cercato di rendere non
solo la "fisicità" dell'uomo
Moravia, ma soprattutto la sua
complessa interiorità.
Photography is a witch who uses all
the tricks of her magic art to cast her
spells. She succeeds in rendering the
invisible visible, and vice versa.
In this photogram, I partly adhered to
the feeling in the 16th Century
paintings which were my inspiration,
but at the same time tried to
re-interpret them in an original way,
by using colour to creat depth, and
under or over-exposure of the film to
underline the interplay of mass, of
glances, and the intense emotions of
the characters.
In the foreground, however, I tried,
with the careful use of light, shadow
and colour, to not only communicate
Moravia's fierce exterior, but also the
complex inner man.
