La Luce è odio, amore,
attrazione, repulsione;
sentimenti (quello che gli
americani chiamano "feeling").
La Luce ha una sua morale; le
situazioni possono essere sfumate
e legate alla realtà di oggi. Si
cerca sempre di risolvere il
problema dell'intervento. La
Luce è ricerca, discussione e
soluzione.
La Luce è il modo più
importante ed efficace di
esprimersi in un film sia per il
regista che per il direttore della
fotografia. Il come usare questo
mezzo varia a seconda del
soggetto e del regista con cui si
collabora e possono essere mille
modi diversi che dipendono
sempre dalla sensibilità e dalla
collaborazione che si crea nel
gruppo di lavoro. Si può fare
dell'ottima fotografia con un
brutto film o una brutta
fotografia in un ottimo film. E
comunque un'incognita che
prescinde dalle proprie capacità,
ma nasce dall'incontro con altre
persone che ti danno il modo di
esprimerla in ogni sua gamma.
Light is love and hate, attraction and
repulsion — ina word: emotion (what
the Americans call "feeling").
The moral of the light is that it can
create nuances in situations and place
them in direct relationship to reality.
The main problem is always how to
use the light. It is, therefore, research,
discussion and solution.
The light is the most important and
effective means of expression for both
the Director and Director of
Photography. The way it is used varies
with every Director and story. There
are a thousand different solutions to
every problem, and finding the right
one very much depends on the
sensitivity of one's colleagues and the
rapport it is possible to establish with
them. A great film can be badly
photographed... and vice versa.
The light is, however, apart from its
obvious properties, an unknown
quantity. It is, in fact, "created" from
the exchanges with one's colleagues
who permit one to express it in its
entire dazzling spectrum.
