"Storia di rosso
cinabro"
rincorrono: pensate, si potrebbe
fare un filmato con sole
diapositive e una buona
post-produzione pagata,
s'intende, a suon di miliardi ai
nostri amici Giapponesi e il film
è fatto!
Ma, allora, gli aspetti positivi?
Naturalmente la diretta (vera!) e
le news per il TG che sono le
uniche, a mio parere, a
beneficiare di questo mezzo che
ha visto anche la nascita di due
merely with transparencies - all it would take is a good post-prodvcticm,
done by our Japanese friends naturally, for which we would pay them a
fortune!
So, what are the positive aspects?
In my opinion, the television camera can only be used to advantage on
live broadcasts (when they really are alive!) and the news. It has also
been responsible for the creation of two new employment categories: the
"Filming Specialist" and "Program Director", the former actually having
managed to take over five jobs: driver, generator operator, electrician,
sound engineer and assistant cameraman; and the latter being a strange
mixture of inability and the desire to create and who, at best, depends on
the cameraman's experience and the editor's talent
Luckily, the Film Director, a real director who learnt his profession
working with the dearly, beloved film of old, is still a creative and
capable man who can execute a reverse shot, or make a connection; but,
above all, he is able to tell a story with images, without having to use a
speaker to explain what's happening!
The big brains are developing High Definition, which is big business
worth hundreds of billions. They say it will improve both the television
and film image. Fortunately, the Cinema is able to counter the "plastic"
High Definition with 70 m/m film, which itself has a very high definition,
and the new Extended Range film, in both 35 m/m and 16 m/m, which
has an extremely high speed and pose latitude. We even have a 35 m/m
film with a speed of500 ASA for filming in poor light!
One, therefore, asks oneself who exactly is is going to benefit from High
Definition: television viewers, cinemagoers or the various Industries, the
different Markets?
Returning to the Cinema, in this era of "garbage" I'm beginning to
nuove categorie aziendali: lo
specializzato di ripresa e il
programmista regista. Il primo
si è conquistato cinque lavori:
autista, gruppista, elettricista,
fonico e assistente operatore. Il
secondo è una strana
mescolanza di incapacità e voglia
di fare che si affida, quando va
bene, all'esperienza
dell'operatore e alle capacità del
montatore.
Per fortuna il Regista nel
cinema, quello .vero fatto con la
cara, vecchia pellicola, è ancora
un uomo creativo e capace, in
grado di fare un attacco, un
controcampo ma soprattutto di
raccontare una storia con
immagini in movimento senza
che uno speaker ce le spieghi.
Grandi cervelloni stanno
inventando l'H.D. o Alta
Definizione, grande business,
affare da centinaia di miliardi. Ci
dicono per vedere meglio la TV o
per il Cinema. Fortunatamente il
Cinema contrappone alla
"Plastica" H.D. sia la pellicola
70mm. ad altissima definizione
sia, per il 35mm. ed il 16mm.,
una nuova pellicola "Extended
Range" ad altissima rapidità e
latitudine. Basti pensare che, per
riprese a bassi livelli di
illuminazione, abbiamo un
negativo 35mm. a 500 ASA!
Ci si domanda dunque a chi
serva l'H.D.: ai telespettatori, al
Cinema o piuttosto alle Industrie
e ai Mercati?
Ritornando al Cinema, in questa
era di "piattume" sto rivalutando
quello di serie B e i famosi art.
28, soprattutto nel vedere i
Giapponesi arrivare a Roma e
girare con la ARRI 35, mentre
fanno tanti sorrisi e inchini a
"noi" che passiamo con il "pezzo
di plastica" in braccio e
inchinandosi ancora ci
ringraziano.
Personalmente, e spero che non
sia pura illusione, ho fiducia
negli uomini di cultura e negli
uomini di Cinema e, in
particolare, nei nostri grandi
"Ambasciatori ecologici" V.
Storaro e G. Rotunno perché ci
difendano dall'avanzata della
"Plastica Gialla".
re-evaluate "B"films and those made with the help of a grant from the
Government (Art. 28), especially when I see the Japanese arriving in
Rome to film with their ARRI 35s, who smile and bow repeatedly to "us",
as we pass by holding our "plastic" cameras, then bow yet again,
thanking us profusely.
I, personally, have tremendous faith in our men of culture, great men of
the Cinema and our two fine ambassadors/ecologists, V. Storaro and G.
Rotunno in particular, and trust that they will defend us from the
advancing 'Yellow Plastic Peril" that threatens to invade our Cinema.: I
hope they won't let me down.
